I played through the first two chapters of Halo 1 solo and it was fine. I'm assuming all the issues are mainly online. I tried MM and it didn't work for me. Took too long. I played it for the ODST offer.

Good point, I haven't cared about playing any of the competitive multiplayer. The few matches I did play work fine. I am mainly interested in the collection for the campaign co-op with my friend, which I think I also mentioned.

For me a company loses the benefit of the doubt when they release a game as broken as MCC. Every release from whichever studio (weird that 343 wasn't so vocal about distancing themselves from that project pre-release....) shit that onto the head of the market deserves to be looked at with extreme skepticism.

Yea, seems like you guys get dropped which is pretty annoying. I was hoping for Legendary runs in coop but looks like it's a mess.

I don't disagree with that. It has been a real shit year for broken games. In that case it is tough to want to buy games from Ubisoft, 2K (NBA), Sony/Evolution Studios, etc.

Nintendo is just about the only company we can trust right now to put out fully working games.

It is why I have invested in a GameFly membership. I have little faith for publishers to put out games that don't need massive day 1 updates to finish the game or just be broken.
 
Every console studio is now on the Paradox Watch List basically, which is amusing considering Paradox got off that list itself with great releases for CK2 and EU4

Also, I hope Rich and Kevin pop up on the GOTY podcast in a few weeks. They're basically regulars at this point

I just want the term "I'd double plug it" to be regularly used when explaining your enthusiasm for stuff that is awesome.

The one game I get for Christmas is Dragon Age: Inquisition, and Mike's right. It fucking sucks. It's so goddamn boring. Why is this winning awards?

This pseudo-mmo idea was executed way better in 2010 by Xenoblade. Play that instead.

Haven't listened to the episode yet, but I like where the conversation will be heading. I traded in Dragon Age after 3 days of utter boredom, but it was my fault for trying yet another high fantasy RPG. I just can't get into those games no matter how hard I try.
 
This was an excellent episode, thanks guys. Though I did find a little weird to listen to a GOTY discussion that wasn't about trashing games and using your egos to make your opinions count more. Not even you Phil?
 
My impression from playing the game and listening to GWJ's 3 hour spoilercast is that you really need to love Dragon Age 1 and 2 to get a lot out of Inquisition. I never played the others so I'm much closer to Mike's feelings
 
I swore off Bioware games after Dragon Age 2. So disappointing. So awful.

Edit: The handheld category made me realize I've only played one handheld game all year which was quickly abandoned when a Wii U version came out.
 
Surprised to see Mik supporting LBP3 so much with how buggy it is and the issues the audience is having.

Especially after the shit I got for just discussing how I appreciate the free ODST for the issues with MCC. :)
 
Replaying DA2 was worth doing imho - first time through I was just so stunned at how fucked the mechanics were. I enjoyed the characters a LOT however, especially the second time through.
 
I just got hyrule warriors and I remember either phil or CJ mentioning something about how enemies stood around a lot. What was their solution to this? Play on hard?

I'm on normal and they seem to stand around. I'm only on the first battlefield however.

Anyway I'm only partially through latest episode of P1P, and have only heard hyrule warriors as phil's number 5. When I went shopping today there was a nintendo sale for 20 % off. I only had 5 minutes to choose and essentially passed up Mario Kart, Smash Bros, and Bayonetta2 to get Hyrule Warriors.

I know all those games are critical darlings for most, but I just felt like playing something I haven't before. Those others maybe the BEST versions of their respective series, but I feel I've played them all before.

Inside I'm secretly hoping few of them make the top 5 above HW on phil's list (because I figure HW won't make anyone else's).
 
just got around to listening to the last two podcasts. i agree with rich(?) about the broken mcc and halo 5 beta. sure, other studios worked on the ports, but ultimately 343 was in charge of the interface and online network on the mcc, which seems to be where the majority of the problems stem.

I am enjoying da:I despite to faults, but I also kind of agree with you here re: xenoblade. Even would cite FFXII in 2006 having superior combat and party AI by means of the gambit system comparatively to Bioware's 2014 epic, which is really messy with a near pointless tactical mode.

Speaking of the "tactical mode," the cursor is actually an invisible character. It can't move through low walls or off elevated areas. Great job, Bioware.
 
I get the enjoyment of Hyrule Warriors, but I got bored halfway through the game (spoiler, but I just unlocked
gannondorf
so I guess I'm not done yet), and I wish the game had more "Zelda" in it. I wish there were puzzles or something to break up the "go here, capture this area, then do it again" and I wish the areas themselves were more diverse and interesting. I will say that it is better than I've been told these types of games are, but I don't see myself ever playing another one of these.
