The Player 1 Podcast Topic

Apparently Leigh Alexander has been somehow involved in the social justice drama around Giant Bomb hiring more white men instead of women or ethnic minorities. I really couldn't be arsed to spend the time to go through her tweets to verify this but if true at least she doesn't just shit exclusively on the small podcasts :-p

EDIT: In other news I just learned that the Greg signed up for some Patriot website. I didn't know Canadians could be patriots since they aren't even independent. Huh, weird.

I really need to listen to the latest epi-dose already. I feel like I'm going crazy having gone this long.

Hope I don't get banned for bumping a thread where I could have just edited my last post but I think people would like to know that the magical 400th episode will be recorded live in just little under three hours at this YouTube link:

Episode 400: The 'How in the...What, Really? This Many?' Special

This week! Super-fan and super-excellent host Rich Grisham takes the reins for a discussion of the Player One Podcast’s past, present and future. Plus some awesome audio shout-outs from longtime fans of the show. You might be a little confused if this is the first episode you’re listening to, so maybe go back to episode 399 instead. If you’ve been listening for a while, please enjoy!

Damn, nice guy Rich going in hard on the games media. RIP

Congrats on 400 episodes! Hopefully during the next 400 you all grow up into a big boy podcast. If this were the bombcast I'd be able to find a clip of the original bane joke with Phil's wife on youtube. Probably animated too

I've listened to dozens and dozens of podcasts for years and years, and only Dan Carlin's podcasts can compete with P1P for longevity in my feed. Everyone else died off, or has become less interesting. Hope I can stay entertained by them for another 7 years.

Thinking back on how much time has passed since I started listening to the show in 2006. I've gotten married had children, bought a house, changed career, put on weight and lost that weight.

My Monday mornings have started with PlayerOne through all that.

Rich Grisham is a great host. I wish I liked sports more so I could get more out of the Press Row Podcast.

Hopefully he'll do a racing game blowout show this fall with all the games coming out.

She forces them to read one of her pieces so they see what constitutes "games journalism." Dream over.

When did "gross" make a comeback as a common descriptor? It has to be the most frequently used word on videogame podcasts and twitter posts.

Really great job with the episode 400. Is so easy in these special episodes have a lot of guest and be a mess, but you keep focused, with good questions from the hosting. And now I going to search and listen the old episodes cited.

Thanks! Yeah Rich did an amazing hosting job.

Speaking of older episodes, I'm trying to put together a list of 'favorite' episodes - for people like yourself who may be new or even longtime listeners that want to stroll on back through memory lane. If anyone's got any particular faves, please call 'em out! So far I have:

Dormerbot
Al Lowe
Ted Woolsey
Best of the Decade
TLOU spoilercast
SlimX guests
Poop Detail, ep. 123

Sound quality on the 400 show is a little shaky, especially on Rich's side, but great show so far guys. I listen on my commute, only part of the way through at the moment.

Just thought I'd take the chance to thank you guys. I started listening at some point near the end of Dormer's run, I remember a couple of months in was the Dormerbot episode, which I remember being absolutely hilarious. Especially after it was revealed how that was actually done. You guys have been responsible for many laughing breakdowns on bus rides.

At one point I wrote for a site dedicated to podcasts and I never missed an opportunity to share my love for you guys. You guys have always managed to be on par with or even outshine podcasts from "professional" outlets, often having better discussions and always being more entertaining.

I know I'll continue to listen as long as you keep recording. Thanks to you all for the years of excellent entertainment.

Any episodes featuring birth sounds.

Congrats on the 400th episode. I've listened to every episode and started not long after you guys started and went back and listened to all the ones from ep 0.

Podcasts are my preferred entertainment. I don't watch TV, don't have the time for movies or games as much as I'd like but podcasts always for in somewhere.

And hands down, this is my favourite podcast.

There's a strange disconnect with podcasts. There must be close to 5-600 hours of content that I've spent on P1P so it feels like I know you guys, nearly as friends, but of course you don't know who we the listeners, for the large part, are, even if we do communicate in brief (unfortunately I can't engage with the hosts as much as I'd like). It's totally understandable of course. You can't be expected to know every fan!

I know one day that this podcast won't be around and that truly saddens me, so I treat every episode as a treasure. Here's hoping you are happy to do as many as you can and it lasts as long as you are happy to do it! I will be there each and every week.

Thanks so much.

Congrats on 400 episodes guys.

I've been listening since damn near the beginning, in the Dormer days, when Phil was the special guest. I need to listen to the dormerbot episode again, so fucking funny.

Still the best damn gaming podcast hands down. Keep it up.

I miss Greg Ford.

A list of recommended episodes is great, but someone or some group should make a compilation of the show's best moments. I have the habit of making a note when something funny happens.Problem is, I listen to the show when I'm walking the dog, gardening, cleaning up around the house, going for a jog, etc. As a result, my file of interesting moments on my phone is heavily biased to the times I could use my hands, which excludes any shows I listened to while cleaning out the shower, grouting tiles, walking the dog in the depths of winter, or driving to work. Hopefully, the guys at Best Of Collection end up making a compilation, but I may throw a random collection of things I found funny if I ever have the motivation.

Episode: Special guest episode with Kevin Larrabee, Bill Mudron, and Rich Grisham
Moments: Mike's reading of reviews from the future and Phil calls Pete Dodd's wife a dude

How much longer until you have Gaming Steve as a special guest?

That has to be saved for the final-final episode, where the world collapses upon itself.

As Stewy is going to be out for the next two weeks we've got some more guests lined up - Josh from Back In My Play and Jonny Metts from Radio Free Nintendo. Should be a coupla good shows there!

Wow, those are great guests. How in the world did you convince them to waste their time on such a small podcast?

Just finished the 400th. Congrats, guys! I can't believe it's been going this long without missing a week (?) and with mostly the same cast. It's pretty phenomenal.

You guys should have Rob Zacny and Troy Goodfellw on to talk about strategy games. You played Pokemon Conquest, right Phil?
