Why is it in m4a format?

Also, congrats, hopefully I'm not too lost on this special since I started listening maybe the last 100 episodes or so

This'll be an interesting experiment-ish thing as I think initially I released the episodes in m4a as that's what Garageband wants to export in usually. There was some pushback from listeners back in the day because their Zunes/Creative Labs/SanDisk MP3 players wouldn't play it (also meant not being able to support some of the cool things you can do with m4a like chapters and swapping out art and stuff). But Rich Grisham hosted and edited the show and did it in m4a and I for one support that.

The original intro music is appreciated. That Rich dude knows what us old school listeners want. Anyways, congrats guys to 300 episodes. Also i miss Greg Ford.

I listen half my podcasts on Vita these days and while it did download it, I got a 'could not install' ...

And congrats of course! I think I've listened to most of them, but definitely haven't missed a single one since the birth of my now four year old son ... Helped me to be a good dad for sure, taking him on hour long walks teaching him to ride a bike etc with the podcast in one ear. Now that he's learnt to speak though it's not really an option anymore, and my listening is done while riding my bike to work.

Congratulation on 300 episodes! I'm a new listener, only starting 50ish episodes ago, but this podcast has quickly become one of my favorites and an integral part of my weekly routine. If the podcast isn't there Monday morning my entire week feels off.

Keep up the great work

I love this show but I can not play m4a. I use a Cowon S9 (because I care about sound quality...). I will accept almost anything because I love you so much. But m4a is impossible.

I do not accept having to manually download someone's converted episodes.

It sounds like just a one week thing (so I'll miss this week...) but thought I should "push back" at this experiment.

Happy 300th episode guys! I can't believe this shows been going on for so many years. I started listening around episode 15 or so, and I just wanted to thank you guys for all the years(!) of entertainment! I've always loved the show, and it's one of the few from the "golden" era of gaming podcast that is still kicking around.

Also, I for one support the use of m4a format... Especially if you guys divided the show into chapters... For those of you using itunes and having difficulty with the format, you can just click on the podcast and under the advance tab, you can convert it to mp3. I'm sure there's many other ways to do that as well not using itunes.

Rich did an awesome job hosting. Look out, CJ!

Also I can't wait to listen to a bootleg mp3 version of the podcast on my Oyua.

The latest show has destroyed the P1P app. First I got an eternal loading screen. Then, when it did load, it would crash within a couple of seconds.

It would be great if you could add chapters to the P1P app. This American Life's app lets you quickly jump from chapter to chapter (and each show has a description of each chapter as well). It's very convenient and would be great for spoilers. Probably too much work, though.

Congrats on the 300. I don't post comment alot but I listen to at least 50% of the episodes. Good job and keep it up!

I thought the show was kind of boring, but later I found it is actually good to have a familiar and down to earth chitchat show on my podcast rotation. I find its more important that the hosts on the show are actually friends than people just have a podcast for the sake of the audiance. Thats why I only listen to player1 and 8-4 now.

If you guys can find a way to get Shane on semi-regularly, I definitely can kickstart 20 bux. I probably will chip in 20 bux on whatever lame kickstarter project you guys come up with anyway.

I will listen on Wednesday. Do we get a 'on the NeoGAFS' in this episode?

Always cracks me up when I hear it said like that.

I remember when I first started listening to this podcast, it didn't click with me at all, and I stopped listening right before the whole Ziff Davis kerfuffle. Then once all those 1UP podcasts died, I resubscribed to Player One just to have video game podcasts to listen to. I sure glad I did though, because this podcast has become one of my favorites, video game related or otherwise.

I have to say, one of the highlights of the show is listening to the baby talk, just because I am in a serious relationship now that may end up with marriage and children, and it has been great to hear you guys talk about your families and your hobbies. It has been enlightening to me in a way that all other video game podcasts have not. It is also good to get some advice now and then, because goodness knows I'll need all the advice I can get if I ever end up having children.

Thank ya'll for 300 episodes, and I look forward to your podcast every week!

I started listening to the P1P my first semester in college. In the first episode CJ talked about lining up for an Apple product, which my guess was for the 16GB 1st gen iPhone as it was early 2008. I just recently got a iPhone and graduated college last year. Also since I started listening I've had sex. Does the P1P crew deserve credit? Maybe.

Here's to another 300 episodes and possibly 5 more conceived children!

Great job making it to 300 guys, hope to hear many more episodes from you.

Been listening since early-ish, and loved it from the start. I even wrote about you guys A LOT on CastMedium, back when that was a thing. Was always pulling for you to get Podcast of the Year but sadly I never managed to make that happen.

The way you guys all play off each other is fantastic, and I honestly can't remember an episode that didn't make me laugh out loud. Eternally grateful for the entertainment you guys have given me.

Fantastic episode. While I haven't listed to the podcast since the beginning, I have been listening to podcasts since that era and it was great hearing how Player One fit into that landscape and such. Also, right now I am downloading episode 62 so this will finally make sense :)

Here is an incomplete list of good things about the show:

1. Dormerbot. Dormerbot always comes 1st.

So, SO many great lines in this episode, but my absolute favorite:

At the end, CJ/Greg/Mike/Phil thank everyone for being a fan, listening to the show, and so on. It seems like the end of the show, only there's a brief pause, and then....

Phil: "We're deeply sorry"

And then it cuts right to the outro music.

Well, that was delightful. That episode serves as a lovely entry point to the podcast, even without dear departed gregfood. Can we get a real update on his life? I was glad to hear from Dan Hsu and the rest.

I should also add 1 thing you guys missed: thanks for being decent human beings. Publically, at least. *eyes Phil* The friendly barbs and familial background noise just reinforces that while you may, like us, be unheathily concerned with video games, you're not merely that. With the video games internet being what it is, I don't take it for granted. Good job, all.

Also, right now I am downloading episode 62 so this will finally make sense :)

The hype is justified.

Was it just me or did the audio sound really low? Especially when Rich was talking. Either way, great episode and thanks guys for the countless hours of free entertainment.

Just a fantastic show, nice and meaty for a 300th episode. Rich was such a great host, and got to hear some Player One Podcast lore that I've never heard before. I did not know that Dan Dormor had been picked out of neogaf to be on the show.

Thanks for all the laughs and weekly entertainment!

Is episode 62 on iTunes or someplace else? I don't have the P1 app, but in my defense I don't have an iPhone or Android cell phone telephone mobile device.

I remember thinking DormerBot was hilarious but I can't actually remember why, was quite a while ago.

I just finished listening to the 300th episode, and it's a great one. Rich did an excellent job with the questions and keeping things moving along and the crew was pretty funny. It was great looking back on over 300 episodes...

I have been listening on and off since day 1. Back when you guys started, I would often listen while working night shifts in the summers between school. That was a good way to pass the time. I remember the Woolsey interview along with the Trickman Terry interviews pretty clearly. The early shows could be really awkward as you guys still hadn't figured out what the show would be, but experience and then apathy turned the show into what it is today.

I hope it lasts at least another 300 episodes. I cannot listen to it at work (real job now), but I've made it a part of my week, listening to it in 10 - 15 minute chunks whenever I have some downtime. Besides the relaxed videogame discussion, which often leads me to trying out games I otherwise would ignore, I enjoy the general banter about every day life (partially because it's something everyone on the show relates to, leading to a lively discussion vs. listening to one person discuss a game only he has played) as well as the occasional Ziff Davis reference.

I read late 90s Ziff Davis magazines, EGM in particular, to the exclusion of all else. I have very fond memories of reading each EGM cover to cover the day it arrived in the mail, sometimes not going out with friends so that I could stay on my bed, reading the magazine while the warm sun poured over me. Thus, the podcast is a bit of a connection to my childhood. I may take the occasional 6 month break from the show, but it's comforting to know it is there, so I hope you guys are still at it 10 years from now.

I am pretty sure all of the episodes are available if you subscribe to P1P on itunes.

(click 'view in itunes,' subscribe, and the full 300 episodes will be available for download)

Was it just me or did the audio sound really low? Especially when Rich was talking. Either way, great episode and thanks guys for the countless hours of free entertainment.

Yeah, I get the feeling the audio was taken straight from the Skype call, so it isn't quite up to the usual quality.

Congratulations, guys! Great questions from Rich, as well.

I started listening after hearing CJ guest on EGM Live, so looking at the dates I have probably been on board since episode 22 or 23. It has been a fun ride.

I tend to find back-slapping podcasts a bit cheesy, but thinking about it, podcasts might mean more to me than I realise. I was more bummed about GFW Radio ending than any TV show or band disappearing from my life.

It will be a sad day when P1P, or Kermode, or Guardian Football Weekly end.

But I'm hoping you keep going a bit longer. You might even catch Gamers With Jobs.

Amazing show. I generally hate this navel gazey bullshit but you guys really pulled it off. I've been listening pretty much since episode one. I listen to just about everything and this is the one I bitch about the least.

Bravo.

I've been listening to the show on and off since whenever Jeremy Parish was a guest on an episode after hearing about the show when CJ and Phil where on the ep of Retronauts talking about the Dreamcast. It didn't click with me at first but I gave it another shot a few months later and have been hooked ever since. You guys are easily in my top 3 podcasts and easily the one I look forward to listening to each and every week (if only cause the others aren't as consistent). I love hearing Phils stories that seem to go no where, I love hearing the random mayhem that goes on in the background of Greg's house sometimes (the time when Greg said his son was wearing his wife shoes and stomping around the house was epic).

I've donated money in the past but I feel like I need to get around to donating much much more, you guys have provided soo much entertainment to me and made my work or bus trip or train ride just soo much more bearable then it would have been with out all. Thank you for 300 great episodes and I look forward to however many more episodes you guys do.

Damn right.

I think Phil and you (definitely not Greg or Chris, though they have excellent senses of humor) would enjoy the classic horror-comedy sketch group The League Of Gentlemen. (You may recognize 1 of them as a co-writer and actor on Sherlock.) They did 1 radio show, 1 radio special, 1 television show, 2 filmed theater shows, 2 books, 1 movie, and a spiritual successor called Psychoville.

The 1st episode is 1 of my favorite television episodes ever.

It's my favorite U.K. comedy thing, and it's right in your wheelhouses. I suggest importing them, not "finding" them. There are radio archives out there, too. I don't suggest watching more than 1 clip to see if you like it, but there's a beautiful balance between horrific black humor like enslaving multiple wives and serial killings and silly jokes like animals exploding and bad children's entertainment. Plus, sketches like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DGntH-aOlWU#t=21m22s (there's a little segment before the 2nd part) remind me a lot of the Player 1 Podcast.

Fantastic show this week. Agree 100% that the show is at its best right now with the current foursome although I've enjoyed all the iterations.

Being relatively new to GAF, I'm intrigued by the mention of the many pissing matches between Mik and 'other well known gaming podcasters' (not a direct quote).

Keep up the good work. Babycasts forever!! ;)

You ain't missing much. It's usually just me being an asshole, shooting my uneducated mouth off and subsequently being put in my place.

Fantastic username, btw.
