The 'hardcore', though I'm not sure the announcement won the Wii U the goodwill Nintendo was probably hoping it would.

What did Bayonetta sell though? Is it really a game for the "hardcore" gamer or is it a game for the "hardcore" Japanophile, a significantly smaller subset.

Also, Pokemon Conquest is great! (a bit late on that one, but thanks Phil!)

"Hardcore" as in "dude who plays niche games," not "hardcore" as in "guy who only plays the giant AAA games that marketing tells him to play." In my day, they called the latter group "casuals," but they somehow became hardcore when your grandma did Wii bowling, your mom did a mom dance for Kinect, and yuppies everywhere broke out the plastic instruments.

Anyway, Bayonetta sold okay. Not Assassin's Creed, of course, but better than every single Vita game by a large margin. Like 350k in the US, over a million worldwide. Even if it sold like total crap, I don't think Nintendo picked up the sequel based on its sales potential.

Pokemon Conquest is phenomenally boring, even more so than every other SRPG.

Please. I spent my youth traveling the world in order to master the ultimate game of strategy. I don't need some watered-down version gussied up with sex, violence, and pocket monsters. The classical version of Connect Four should be enough for anyone who isn't a brute.

beep beep beep, back it up

Is there a non-classical version of Connect Four?

Electronic Connect Four. It never caught on because saying "Pretty sneaky, AI-unit alpha-oh-four-delta-seventy!" just didn't play well in the commercials.

There's also the ill-fated Connect Four Extreme where every piece is a pog, but the less said about that, the better.

You are glad someone is researching the origin and voracity of a companies Twitter followers?

This implies that you actually care about the number of Twitter followers a particular entity has.

No, verifying that what a company boasts about in press releases or advertising is true. Like this.

was this what Mike was talking about?

I knew what he was talking about straight away.

Although I was almost expecting him to confess to owning that one-handed N64 controller.

ugly but don't knock it till you've tried it. it's by far better than the default pad (which isn't saying much, I geuss)

That's the "Mako Pad" recommended in EGM's holiday guide.

Great controller. Far better than any of the third-party trash.

I think they gave it a 9.0. I don't know why I remember that. I actually really loved the gear reviews EGM used to do back in the day. the stuff they reviewed ranged from utter crap (with hilarious reviews to accompany them) to hidden gems. I remember there was this one light gun that was metal and looked pretty damn real. The review gave it a 9.5 but recommended you don't take teh gun out of the house lest you get your ass capped by the popo.

I haven't heard Bane x Eminem yet, but as far as Phil voices go:

Skitchin' dude > Milo > Smug Obi-wan > Sam Raimi > Bane > Goldblum?

Can't think of anymore.

I only started listening a little while ago... I feel like I've missed so much. =(

Are the Skitching Guy and/or Milo bits on YouTube or anything?
