The Road is the best 'put me to sleep' book

I love post apocalyptic settings. I like books that are set in that. I liked the movie too, though I saw it long back and dont really remember much.
And yet.....I dont know what it is about this book that I read barely 2 pages of it and sweet mother siesta starts calling me. Its almost incredible. Maybe its the tone, maybe the fact that as of now all they are doing is walking in a drab grey world (I am not far. I keep falling asleep :p) but whatever it is, it works like magic to put me to sleep.
Anyone else had the same thing with this book or any other piece of media?

Can’t say I felt the same. I love the book. Good movie, great book imo. I felt it was a pretty easy and quick read as well.

I’m a bit of a Cormac fanboy though
I was thinking of reading this or blood meridian but started with this because of the post apocalyptic setting. Which one do you think is better?

No Country For Old Men is way better. I read it in highschool.

If a book puts me to sleep, I usually stop reading it lol. That's only happened with very academic , or very old English literature.

Happened to me with Metro 2034.
I really enjoyed 2033 but I simply found 2034 boring. The characters didn't click as much with me and IMO it lost a lot of that sense of mystery from the first one.

After like the 6th time falling asleep while reading it I decided to drop it.

Why not both? They are both great.

Also - No Country for Old Men is one of the best American novels ever written.

While Cormac McCarthy’s books translate very well to film, I find reading them to be a chore. I think it’s his structure/flow, or lack thereof. Didn’t enjoy Blood Meridian either.
