It depends...

If we compare about 'what could have be' and the reality, it's Microsoft, because a company with so much money should have a extremely better output, and that is not the case (not surprising if we remember how Windows feels worse since Windows 8, at least [and i was a beta tester of Windows 7, when this would represent something]). Today, only idiots still defend MS - includingo some users from NeoGaf.

If we compare about the reality and imagination world that a company is living, it's Ubisoft, and that is not even a context. This shitty company still think they show all the others about how a game is created and shields it self using polemics and politics, meanwhile, all its games are on nose-drive trajectory in quality and storytelling - hell, Salai from AC Brotherhood DLC is more charismatic than almost any one NPC form any other AC Game... (Da vinci is more charismatic than almost any other NPC form any other AC game combined!).

Warner Bros closed monolith, released switch port that were clearly cash grabs, insisted in pushing live services to all its franchises, and when they underperformed, not only they shutdown servers but also cancelled the release of stuff had already paid for.

You don't see any contradiction here ?
Nope... I dont... 4 good games in a 5 year gen is ridiculous from a publisher I considered to be the best in the two previous gens. And of this 4 games only Astrobot for me is like a 9-10 game. Demons souls is a remake, GT7 is a crossgen sequel good but nothing we didn't had before, Rise of the Ronin is a fun 7-8 game with very low production values, Helldivers 2 I cant comment, never played since MP is not my thing, but its success is undeniable. The rest ? A stream of subpar sequels, nobody asked for remasters/remakes, wokeness and failed gaas projects and decisions.

So Sony is the worst publisher this gen ? Definitely not... but its the most disappointing by a freaking mile.

Imo of course.

Edir: I forgot about returnal, its fun for like 4 hours.

It's a 50/50 between Ubi and MS for both various and similar reasons. Mostly related to politics no real interesting games closing studio's and living in an alternate reality.

EA didn't really publish anything it feels like gen. Apart from the usual sports shit. So in that sense there's no objective reason to vote for them.

Voted Microsoft. I am fine with EA and Ubisoft destroying themselves because I don't care about them.
I don't care much more about Microsoft, BUT they are also destroying others in their endless path to becoming the worst company ever.

Yes it matter, it mean devs didn't had faith in their game selling by itself and they wanted that sweet M money.

How the hell is that M fault?
It encourages consumers to not buy games, it stimulates GamePass filler (just look at Xbox own 1st party trackrecord this gen), it leads to Xbox dying which some claim is bad for competition within the industry.

Whatever business-decisions devs make is a different matter, because MS is throwing money their way as they want to make GP seem like the "best deal in gaming".

Edit:

And let's not forget that acquiring major publishers like ABK and Bethesda had everything to do with bolstering GamePass.

Monster Hunter World
Devil May Cry 5
Resident Evil 2
Resident Evil 4
Resident Evil Village
Street Fighter 6

These next 4 are some of my most anticipated games too…

Resident Evil Requiem
Onimusha Way of the Sword
Pragmata
Okami 2
+ putting Breath of Fire IV, Resident Evil 1-3, and Dino Crisis 1 & 2 on GOG

+ their re-releases have mostly been on point (various fighting collections, Ace Attorney games, Onimusha 2)

Nobody force third parties devs to take a gamepass deal, they do that because they have no trust in their game to begin with.
Well.. if you are dealing with a core audience trained to not buy games on that system you may feel kind of "obligated" to go the gamepass route... sure if your game is like asscreed or fifa this wouldn't probably matter too much... but for a indie dev it can become a real challenge to try your luck on this biased environment.

Classic internet response "well if you exclude the games, then their output is 0, which is my point"

Controversial opinion, the thing is, i don't give much of a fucks if a ubislop or ea game is shit, so ubisoft and the others failing doesn't touch me much at all, it's just par for the course.

But capcom absolutely fucking up dogma and wilds back to back was way worse than shadows being another 6\10, wilds was supposed to be my goty, maybe even gotg and many people were expecting dogma 2 to be the saviour of open world games or some shit.

So just for those 2, my vote goes to them, maybe not for the entire gen but just for the last 1-2 years.
This post is the post. I knew EA and Ubi were going to release a ton of shit, but never expected that Capcom would fuck up it latest games the way it did.

Actually tough between EA and Ubi -

EA:
  • Hasn't put out I've liked outside of Respawn and Hazelight in almost a decade
  • Still the worst PC platform/launcher
Ubi:
  • Very, very mixed bag over the last 5-10 years
  • Great: SW Outlaws, Division 2, Siege, Immortals, Breakpoint 2.0
  • Meh: Valhalla, WD Legion, FC6, Crew "We have Forza Horizon at home", Breakpoint (OG)

Naw he's back with the shitty takes again.

Amazing how obsessed some are.

Anyway, I vote WB. Ubisoft has put out some great games this gen, they just put too much MTX in their games.

EA is a close second to WB. Outside of publishing Hazelights two great games, I can't think of anything they've done besides sports rehash and Star Wars. And they're worse with MTX than Ubisoft imho.

Voted for them too.

There are bumbling publishers out there like Square Enix or Ubisoft, but I have never seen the combo of being both incompetent AND not productive.

Even sure-fire hits like MK1 didn't go correct, without Hogwarts Legacy this gen would have been an absolute loss for them.

They did the Dead Space remake which was well-received, and Tales of Kenzera, which is at least something interesting and new.

People gets delusional quick

EA still is the shittiest and I don't see any change in the future. Ubisoft got lights on them recently because of their new shitty talk. I'm not even sure if they are second place, since Warner said that won't do much outside of three franchises, and Activision Blizzard always fucks with their own IPs to later release "a fix" and then repeat this process

Don't mix things

Voted for Crapcom

what a massive fall off

I hate Biohazard and SF6 is my least fav fighting game of all time, Dante is my least fav video game character of all time this generation has
been everything I hate over and over again

They are sitting on a goldmine of IP and doing less than freaking SEGA

Where is Mega Man??? Maximo?? anything other than being an RE factory!

Last Capcom game I was impressed with was Tatsunoko vs Capcom almost 20 years ago at this point

Indie developers are not microsoft developers so people should not expect to get their games for free, this is an idiotic excuse.

Microsoft players probably also have a second console so they have familiarity with paying for games and even saying this is absolutely idiotic, are microsoft clients 4 years old that can distinguish between gamepass offer and external games they have to pay for? This is like that politician talking about black kids and computers...xboys are fucking retarded apparently and can't distinguish elementary stuff :lollipop_grinning_sweat:

No offense, but this sound stupid to me.

We can criticize microsoft for everything but gamepas fucking up third parties because their clients have zero brain is beyond hilarious.

Shocked that MS isn't first. While Ubisoft hasn't brought much (or any based on your POV) value in the past few years it hasn't actively eroded future industry value proposition potential like MS has.

IMO the damage Ubi has done is no where close to the damage MS has done and will continue to do. I'm fine with Ubisoft dropping the ball on their end, it's "just ubisoft".

Heh I actually saw that name for the first time last night when I started playing The Karate Kid: Street Rumble. It was surprisingly entertaining! Definitely simplistic but still fun. So no complaints from me, though I have no idea what else they've published.

But this thread isn't about positivity. So I'll vote on Sony simply because I hate their timed exclusivity strategy and inconsistency in how long you have to wait for their late PC releases. Since I have their consoles too FOMO hits me far too easily and I just end up paying for everything twice.

It's obviously Ubisoft, so I won't bother voting. Those cunts will not see a penny from me for a while after I Day 1'd Outlaws with the deluxe edition.

I wanted old school Han Solo and got a soccer mom banging on about women's wives and flirting with female traders… and female stormtroopers everywhere ffs 🤦🏼‍♂️

I enjoyed Valhalla and would have given Shadows a chance if not for Outlaws, but the absolute mess they made of that too.

That'd be Nintendo with all their lawsuits and legal fuckery.

Even funnier when you consider that hd2 and another one on your list are not even made by sony first parties.

Capcom got my vengeance vote after flubbing the two games this gen that I was most excited for. Dragon's Dogma 2 and MH Wilds.

Some other pubs sucked worse in general, but as far as having actual expectations and having them destroyed, Capcom was the worst for me, personally.

Capcom has been great but also disappointing.

Ubisoft has put out some good games so for me it isn't them.

I voted Xbox because of all the recent firings and closures, cancelled games, etc.
