1- what is the difference between bleaching and dying hair? Bleach is a chemical agent to remove color right? So bleaching hair means turning it white (or does removing certain degrees of color from the hair changes it to different colors) ? Do you dye your hair blue or do you bleach your hair blue? What happens chemically?


2 - how does hardware partitioning work? Let’s say you have a 4 gig partition called G for windows. When you browse your files on windows does it show everything on the non-partitioned part? What if you have another OS? Don't they conflict?


3 - why does progressive scan only work with EDTVs or HDTVs? Isn’t just a technology to display resolution line by line in one go instead of two interlaced? Why is a higher resolution needed?




As obvious from questions 2 and 3 I don’t know anything about technology so book recommendations are welcome. ^__^

Higher resolution is not needed. There are many EDTVs that are 480P natively.

One of Destiny's Child's first singles went something like this :

"Can you pay my bills, I don't think you do, you and me are through"

Not only is this grammatically incorrect, but also, one of their biggest singles, that came later, went something like that :

"All the women are independent, raise your hand, don't touch your man's scrotum because we're all independent women, high five, now let's show nipples"

which, quite evidently, clashes vehemently with the first song's message, in that a woman slutting herself for a man's money doesn't really scream independence in the first place.


Which brings me to my question :

How is Destiny's Child still selling records and are all their fans literately disabled?

Not really THAT stupid of a question, when you think about it.

Why do video-game clearance sales never apply to any of the sotres in my area? Like, not even once. Zero times have I heard of a sale at any store that sells them and then have the employees there know what I'm talking about.

Well my hair is naturally black. So to get the best color out of the dye, I had to bleach it first. You bleach it so it becomes white, that makes the color you want to dye it stand out more. I've only done this a few times. Freshmen year of high school my hair was orange...junior year it was purple for a few weeks, and the last weeks of senior year were blue.

Well, I dye and bleach my hair regularly. Dying generally ADDS harsh shit to your hair, whereas bleaching harshly REMOVES shit from your hair.

My hair is black, naturally. I also dye it black to make it uber-black in the summer. In the fall/winter, I usually go with a brown-ish red, and I need to bleach first to do that. I typically dye my hair every 2-4 weeks. A wrong combination of dying and bleaching could leave you bald. Be afraid.

Guys are generally more forward. But don't worry too much about it. You may be hit on by more guys. Just take it as a compliment. Initially it made me feel really weird, but i learned to take it as having universal appeal. Don't worry about it until the guys outnumber the girls.

One side is coated in wax (or some wax-like substance). That is why certain foods that require aluminum foil require the foil to be facing a certain way. You wouldn't want your food to get coated in wax.

This is largely still up for psychological debate. As far as the current, popular "model" for dreaming goes, they'd likely dream in terms of whatever their predominant sense is. When you dream, do you occasionally remember a sound or a texture? I certainly, CERTAINLY do. They likely dream entirely within the other senses -- and arguably. . .emotion. This is apparently still largely up for debate, according to one of my med school buddies.

I've always wondered what that plug/hole at the grip of a vacuum cleaner is for, then I realized it's probably for putting stuff in that the cleaner couldn't suck up, like paper clips.

But I've always wondered how the eye interacts with light, on a physical level. How does the light interact with the back of the eye?

Why does it seem like meteorology hasn't advanced in the past 30yrs despite all the technological advances they tout? Seriously, they can barely fuckin' predict 12hrs in advance. :X

How do you manage to absolutely categorize yourself as either Democratic or Republican? The mere concept of one side of the coin presenting all the opinions/viewpoints/policies I'd agree with and the other having none of those qualitites instantly strikes me as illogical.

Answer: NO. If part of your HD is not a part of a partition then Windows wont see it, you can't use it. It is lost until you assign it to a partition(use partition magic).

"What if you have another OS?"
Answer: Then you need two partitions. One for each OS.

"Don't they conflict?"
Answer: Depends on the way you install them. Install windows9x first then Windows 2000/XP. Install Windows then install Linux. If you do it the other way around it won't work.

Bio isn't my strong suit, but I would imagine that it has to do with excitation of electrons, since the incoming photons are absorbed by the rods and cones in the eye. Anyone else have a more detailed answer?

Weather systems are chaotic. "Chaos," from a mathematical point of view, means that the rules which are followed are entirely predictable, but the recursive system of equations are EXTREMELY sensitive to the initial conditions. In the case of weather, we understand the general principles of physics which cause the weather...but there is simply no way to measure all the possible data to the necessary precision in order to have certainty about what will unfold.

Question 1: Just a guess, but it's probably due to a lack of oxygenation in that blood. The reason your veins look blue is that the oxygen has been transmitted to cells already, and it is returning to the heart and lungs to be refreshed.

Question 2: That question, along with many others, was tackled in Cecil Adams' classic column, "The Straight Dope." If memory serves, the reason is no more complicated than this: Bun makers and hot dog makers never bothered to synchronize their products. :)
