The Suicide Squad (James Gunn) - Official Cast Reveal Trailer (2021)

A bunch of those guys will die in the first 15 minutes.
Jesus they really scraped bottom of the barrel for some of these characters.
They're really outdoing themselves here, this looks like it might even be worse than the first one! But it is James Gunn the pedophile, so it may be watchable.

Amazing cast. I can't believe Marvel fucked up and let Warner get him for Suicide Squad. His vision is way more in line with those characters than with Marvels.

Looks more interesting than the first one which I found stunningly dull. I really consider it an achievement almost to make that story and those characters dull.

First movie was so bad I will not be seeing this in theaters that’s for sure.

Also I refuse to give my money to anything Pete Davidson is in. I flat out want him to die pennyless and unknown.

Also James Gunn is on my shitlist. Guardians was half decent but the whole p3do jokes thing made me rethink if this is really the best director we can come up with I’ll just abstain from his movies.

fuck everything about that trailer. couldnt even watch it. jfc.

the bits i did catch make it seem like this is going to be an everything but the kitchen sink approach to this film. which can go one of two ways: spectacularly right, or horribly wrong.

so looks like WB/DC hasnt changed a bit lol

Can't wait for this.

Folks dissing the cast are missing the point, this movie is the anti-marvel, so having James "we're firing you from your own franchise" Gunn direct it is a going to be epic, even if they did kiss and makeup after this script was written.

Marvel characters are so big, sell so much merch and have such big actors attached that they literally had to have a 6-hour mega-budget movie to justify killing just one of them off, the films had zero actual stakes. But the wish.com avengers? Most of these guys are going to get fucking wrecked, and Gunn is going to have the freedom to do whatever unpredictable shit he feels like to them, because who gives a shit about polkadot mans "cannon".

My hot-take is that this is going to be the most entertaining superhero movie.

I had to double check because there's a movie from 2016 called 'Suicide Squad' with Harley Quinn and Cpt. Boomerang et al.

But adding 'The' is cool I guess. I'm sure second time is the charm.

Yeah....his "jokes" were super offensive. I can't believe anyone would stand up for this guy.

And now for something completely different.

I know someone who had a friend at the test screening last week. Said it was fun.
I'm sure it is, but looking at this screenshot with no context, my first thought was "what the fuck is that thing?" Not a bad thing, I'm just saying it caught me off guard. I like it.

What sucks is this guy didn't go to Vegas for the screening, if he did I'd have a full scene-by-scene breakdown of the movie right now. He's kicking himself because he didn't connect the description of a "R-rated action movie" with The Suicide Squad.

Wait... the movie is complete and was screened? I thought it was still in post-production.

It's being edited. But that's when they start doing test screenings. To see if a cut works. Effects aren't done yet, but it's finished enough to test a cut in front of audiences to see if anything needs to be changed. They do it this early so they know what they might need to add with reshoots next year.

Like when Aquaman was first tested, none of the reshoots were done so none of the Randal Park scenes were in the movie yet, but it was pretty much the same movie that was released in theaters.

A lot of these characters will die. I expect toilet humour, shock value and subverted expectations. I'd like it to be R rated. This is the perfect project for Gunn if Warner let him go all in. I'm not a massive fan of his but I know this is right for the type of movies he makes.

The version test screened on Friday was R rated.

Will watch it for Flula Borg alone. Saw him as Conan O'Brian guest. He's really funny. No idea how he got the role in this movie though.

This just gives me horrible flashbacks to the first movie when they did the intros for some of the characters, then did intros for all of the characters including the ones they had just done, then introduced one more character who instantly died.

That's what happens when you hire a trailer house to edit your movie to try to make it like Guardians of the Galaxy. Thankfully those execs took their golden parachutes a while ago.

100 hundred per fuckin cent!!

The Dirty Dozen with superpowers.
Or a slasher film with superpowers.

They mostly die - that's the fuckin point! Who gives a shit?! The more the merrier!
Oh no, too many characters, how will they ever give them all screentime and tell us their history and sob story?? Who gives a fuck - they're goddamn expendable!
Jesus Christ, what's wrong with you fuckers that you need everyone to live in an action movie. They are usually the villains anyway, and they're mostly noname cannon fodder.

Bring it on!!

No he survived the first movie and Harley referenced him in Birds of Prey.

Oh it was the wrong guy I was thinking of lol. I thought he was the one who's head exploded xD.

never heard this complaint before lol. i think it's even better with so many chars. the more the merrier

If there's too many characters then you can't develop and focus on all of them and it sorta ends up feeling like they're waste of space and just detract from the ones that do get attention imo.

I'd say that depends on how they are used and what kind of movie that will be..
Obviously it won't concentrate on all of them.

Im in for Shark Man eating people.

I also think it's a good thing that it's a huge cast as I'm guessing it will allow for plenty of the cast to be killed off - they're called The Suicide Squad after all so I expect loads of them to die.
