Now its on huge sales, I bought it two days ago and loving it so far. I think it's even better than the previous one.

Shame that it doesn't have VR mode for PSVR 2 cos it would be a perfect fit.

Still in the middle of Talos 1. Good to know theres a sequel to look forward to. Love the atmosphere of the game, but did find the computer parts tediuous, yes i know dos but clicking responses and reading texts gets old. It makes sense tho, merging traditional puzzles with new. And the egyptian style is great. I found the 3rd person mode way too late, and that salvaged the game for me

The DLC Road to Gehenna ramps up the difficulty. The second game adds interesting variations to the puzzles and the story. These two are criminally underrated, even if it's a niche genre.

Some puzzle logics havent been explained in Talos 2 and u can only prolly figure it out if you remember some of the first games puzzles, like
blocking the laser with ur body.
. It took me a while to figure it out as well since I played the first ages ago, incl its dlc and the second game never really reminded me I could do it.

They cleverly remind you of the mechanics of the first game in the prologue.

I started this last night and I'm really enjoying it. Only did like the first 10 puzzles of the first DLC section, but so far so good. I just can't get enough of Talos. It's honestly going to go down as one of my favorite game series of all time if Talos 3 is just as good as the first two. The music, the ambience, the perfect level of challenge. It's just so relaxing and rewarding.

Does the DLC slowly ramp up the puzzles from the start or does it dump you back into the world with all mechanics in place?
I finished the main game back in February, and I would like to ease my way back in.
DLC looks big.

It's 3 separate chapters you can pick on the main menu screen. I'm only on the first one so far, haven't had a ton of time to play, but so far it doesn't gradually work you back up, the puzzles are pretty hard right off the bat. No gimmes.

But I'm going to backtrack a bit on my previous thoughts as I've played more of the first chapter of the DLC. It started off fun and challenging, but it's honestly not as good as the main game's puzzles. In the first DLC chapter all the puzzles are laser puzzles. They don't have any of the other puzzle elements in them. Except one has blocks, but the puzzle is placing the blocks to block lasers at specific points, not actually use the blocks to place connectors on top of or whatever. Otherwise, every puzzle is just lasers. To me what makes Talos great is combining all the puzzle elements together. The fact that it's lasers only, Once I got to like puzzle room 8 I started to get a bit bored of just lasers. And all the puzzles involving the lasers started to become the worst kind of laser puzzles. Which are ones where you need to use lasers to block the path of other lasers. And one of the puzzles puts you in this setting where, I won't say too much because I don't want to spoil the puzzle, but I was starting to get motion sickness because it requires you to look up in the air the entire time and I couldn't see much of what I was doing. I mean, they're still good and challenging puzzles, and if you like only laser puzzles you'll love it. But if not, anyone probably wouldn't enjoy the first chapter of the DLC as much.

I haven't gotten to the other two chapters yet, but I hope/expect they'll offer more than just lasers and different types of challenges.

Thanks, I went ahead and bought it last night. The very first puzzle was one of those crossing the beam mechanics, I have a hard time with these as I don't understand them very well. I know they have to do with what beam gets crossed first gets priority or something, but the 5 or 6th puzzle I can't figure out, It's a line with a dozen recievers all in a row blocking the doors above them. I know I'm supposed to use the blue beam to 'cross' or split the red and blue beam but It's not working. :(

Get used to it lol almost all of the puzzles in the first chapter are those types of puzzles and they get more complicated. To me they're difficult as well to discern as well, but I figured them out. But I do wish they weren't laser only puzzles. Wish they mixed in some jammers and air lifts and clones in DLC1 as well.

Finished the Hexahedron in the 2nd DLC chapter. I saw some people online saying it was too hard, but I didn't find it all that difficult. I found it more motion sickness inducing because the entire thing has you flipping upside down to advance to different areas. It's cool though because it's really long and each time you advance through one section of it, it gives you a checkpoint. I actually thought the laser puzzles in part 1 of the DLC were more difficult, my brain has a difficult time comprehending those lasers. Maybe it's just how my brain is wired. But overall in part 2 of the DLC there are 3 sections with 10 puzzles each(8 regular, one triangle, one golden gate puzzle) plus the Hexahedron, which is a massive structure that can take over an hour or longer depending on how fast it clicks with you. And all of this is just one part of three DLC chapters you get. And, what was it $20?

The Talos base game was $40 and that game has over 100 puzzles, this adds even more. I gotta say this game is the best value I've purchased in quite a long time. You get so much bang for your buck. On to the last DLC chapter.

I finished the 1st chapter of the DLC. That final inside the sphere puzzle took me tons of trial and error before figuring it out. Very difficult to trace out.
Already started the 2nd chapter and did all but number 7 of the green puzzles. I don't see what can be done here in 7? There is nothing to connect on either side. ??
I might have to move on to the reds and come back later.

The 2nd chapter is more fun. The story with Yaqut is cute. Looking forward to the big cube, assuming I can get there.

I've been really enjoying this DLC.

I had difficulty figuring it out too. What I can say without giving too much away is above the cauldron thing you interact with to "beat" the puzzle room, there is something there they don't allow you to see for some reason that the laser pointing downward is touching that has to do with what you're supposed to do. I know that's vague, but I didn't want to give any hints for spoiler reasons.

Holy shit man, the final DLC chapter Into The Abyss is like the first chapter on steroids. Almost all laser puzzles except for a few and these are crazy enough to drive me mad. I finally did something I never did for this game. I looked up a solution online. I've gone through both games completing every single puzzle on my own, but some of these ones I just don't have the patience or focus to tolerate it. The other night I had a headache and this one puzzle was so ridiculous with the lasers. And what makes it worse is in almost all of these puzzles if you mess up, you have to hit restart from checkpoint. In almost all puzzles in Talos 2, if you messed up, the game would give you a way to "unstuck" yourself. But in these puzzles you can literally get yourself stuck in a room with no way out and have to start from the very beginning. That's what happened in one of these complicated puzzles and I say fuck this and looked up the solution. I was not going to spend 5 hours on one room. I want to move on to other games.

Not what I wanted to hear. I just finished the Red puzzles on chapter 2 and am moving to the blue puzzles before the big cube. I may set the DLC aside once I finish the big cube in chapter 2. I'll try out the 3rd chapter later on in the year.
I'm also working on the Riven remake, I'm about puzzled out.

Yeah a lot of the puzzles are connect lasers to open doors, then connect other lasers to the original connector plus the targets to keep the door open, then take the original connector and move it elsewhere, and some things I don't even technically know how exactly the doors stayed open based on mechanics, but once you get that chain going if you accidentally break the chain and the doors close on you, you can't get back to previous rooms again, so you have to restart the puzzle over. And it's easy to mess this up because these puzzles require a lot of experimenting to see what does what. If you hate the laser puzzles, these will drive you nuts. Also they seem to be random, they don't escalate in difficulty. Randomly a few in the middle weren't that hard and weren't as laser centric, but then it goes back to lasers again. This one puzzle was really long. The longest normal puzzle maybe in either Talos game, excluding the Hexahedron, that doesn't count. It required so damn much maneuvering and moving things back and forth, it took me like 2 hours to finish that room.

This chapter has a lot of puzzles I think 24 at least.
