the thread where we will talk about PSP until the wonky server problems resolve

I have spent all day trying to access the Official US PSP Launch Thread, and I wish to continue my PSP-related discussions. Therefore, I propose a surrogate thread!

Good.

Now, GameStop.com says that Twisted Metal and Wipeout are in stock, among others. However my order for Twisted Metal switched from "Processing" back to "Ships Within 24 Hours", and sadly, neither Twisted Metal nor Wipeout shipped to me today. Then again, neither did Phantom Dust - it is a conspiracy I tell you!

I did, however, find copies of Gretzky NHL and Soccer at a GameCrazy. Perhaps they will receive Wipeout tomorrow? One can hope!

Toys R Us was worthless, the fellow claiming, "Maybe we'll get them by the 24th."

Tomorrow will be a day of great adventure!

I hereby claim this thread in the name of Mizuguchi!

Lumines > Meteos!

Lumines is synaesthetic, gorgeous, stylish, cool, and the best pure puzzle game since Tetris ... this is how you know Mizuguchi is IN DA MOTHERFUCKIN HOUSE!

Meteos is spazzy, colorful, shallow (but with the promise of false depth) and overrated by Nintendo fanboys ... this is how you know the creator of Super Smash Bros. had a hand in its development!

I <3 Lumines with every party of my body (including my pee pee).

I stopped by Ebgames at lunch today and they had Gretzky in and expected more PSP games later in the week. They didn't say which games though

I was surprised sony told stores to put them up for sale as soon as you get them.

I hadn't played Lumines for the longest time, then went back to it yesterday and immediately beat my high score. How?

Since Lumines is so addictive and awesome, your subconcious was working out new strategies in your sleep. You may think you haven't been "playing" Lumines, but your gaming id begs to differ!

That happens to me sometimes. The other day I played Amplitude for the first time in months, and finally got a four-bar on Robot Rockerz, on my first try.

Also, I already posted about this in the encoding thread, but PSPVideo 9 is looking like a damn good program. They just put up the latest build which uses the new version of FFMPEG, so you no longer need to have Quicktime installed. It's just much more solid than 3GP or RaPiZ, has all the same options, etc.

Whoot, I'm glad to discover this thread. I blame it on the stupid lurkers. :D

I wasn't planning on getting Wipeout, but I might just cave in and pick it up. And I'll definitely get Luminies (the GAF hype is too overwhelming) once that hits the shelves.

Me gunna be so poor. T_T

:lol :lol :lol

You are on a roll good sir. Please continue.

I'm so tempted...

but the line up doesn't look so good beyond ridge and lummies

I know I know it has other uses...but....345 CAD is al of dough, it's more than a freakin new PS2 with mem card, games, and extra controller...but that screen on the psp.........*drool*

All these games should be in this week, not counting accessories.

NFSU Rivals
Spider-Man 2
THUG 2 Remix
Gretzky NHL
World Tour Soccer
Wipeout Pure
Twisted Metal: Head On
NBA
Dynasty Warriors
Darkstalkers Chronicle: The Chaos Tower
Ape Escape: On the Loose

The only thing street dated is the PSP. Everything else can be sold as the store gets them in.

Oh and the allocation numbers I posted in the official PSP thread were correct.

Edit: and Phantom Dust is NOT cancelled. :D

Your purchase of Darkstalkers does indeed jive with your taste for bad games, but Wipeout Pure is actually good. You're slipping!

I did the same damn thing like a week ago. I hadn't played for 2.5-3 weeks, then I picked it up and BAM...new high score.

I had the day off so I went on a PSP adventure. The first store, an EB at the mall, had both Gretzky and World Tour Soccer in stock. When I asked the guys if I could see the games (it was 2 older guys in their late 40's) one guy said that he couldn't break the street date. I moved on to an EBX (a smaller EB in the same mall) where not only did they have both titles, but the manager offered to sell them to me. My last stop was to the Gamestop where I pre- ordered my games. When I asked to see the games the guy told me to wait a bit, but I had to go so I confirmed that there was no street date and left. I know BuddyC is anticipating the games to arrive tomorrow, and so am I. BTW, when are we creating the TM:Head On online thread. The first thing I'm doing after I get the game is walking to the Starbucks next door to see if people are online.

I heard someone mention on another board that they purchased gretsky and the online servers are up and running already, obviously nobody is playing on them yet.

<sigh!> No games stories or psp stories to contribute. I hope to grab one at launch but I can wait. I did grab an EXIM Screen Protector for $13 including shipping on ebay.

It's looking like Thursday, at the earliest, unless local GameStop or GameCrazy gets it in tomorrow. Gamestop.com is torturing me :/

Lumines high score: 380,346

Holy shit! Keep us updated, I'll have to bum rush my EB soon, they better have Twisted Metal. Whoever gets TM early make a thread in the online forum so we can start battling each other before the lamers come (ie. non-GAF players).

wtf, Ridge Racer comes out on 4/6? According to EBgames at least. I thought it was a launch title?

It is a launch title, but supposedly its going to be in short supply (someone noted on this board), so who knows.

My EBgames called me a moment ago informing that I will be able to pick my PSP up next thursday, and the store will be open at 8am on that day....:)

And just so you guys know, the EB warranty for the PSP will be $31.99.
Did they just change this? Everything else I'd heard claimed $25.

It's always been $32. It's been that way ever since EB has been taking PSP preorders.

Maybe it's an old price from a few years ago, but it is $32 now.(warranty varies by hardware price range)

Are the warranties an in-store thing only or can they be bought for ebgames.com purchases also?

I don't think you can buy the warranty online. Try EBgames.com customer support and see what they say. Maybe you can take your online receipt, go to an actual store and just purchase the warranty.

Definitely give customer support a try.
