The Trial of Elizabeth Holmes

Four years after her indictment on fraud charges for masterminding the Theranos house of cards, Elizabeth Holmes is finally going on trial. Her trial had to be delayed six weeks because of her surprise pregnancy, and she has now given birth to a boy.

Curious to see how the trial plays out and who she tries to pin the blame on after taking all the credit for her scam company every step of the way.

She's a legit sociopath.
Legitimately one of the creepiest humans on the planet, with that dialed-in wide-eyed smile.

Some women have these eyes naturally, and it's weird but not necessarily creepy.

Example, Hellblade cutie:

I think just like with the voice, Holmes does the eyes on purpose. Maybe she thinks it's persuasive, or that she can "hypnotize" people with the eyes and the low voice. So weird.

Given the way she purposefully lowers the tone of her voice, I wouldn't be surprised if her stare wasn't also a calculated (and overdone) attempt to seem more assertive and powerful

Does it matter tho?, people act all kinds of different in professional enviroments.

Stand up straight, look in the eyes, be accurate, don't stutter, don't yawn. if she thinks another voice works better or force your eyes to open that far to be taken more seriously, more power to her.

Sure, but have you seen the way she does it ?

reminds me of christopher "Dr death" dunstch in that in that she will just blame everyone for her mistakes that led to her downfall and will never be able to take any accountability for what she's done. complete sociopaths

The really scary part about the Theranos story is that compared to other frauds in the so called “small cap bio” market they did a rather small damage to investors. Even scarier is the fact that her scheme only got exposed after she and her CFO boyfriend were stupid enough to cook the books and claim revenue which just wasn’t there. Without that very dump mistake she would still be selling the dream of a “needle-free” blood-testing device to the clueless investor crowd.

I mean, it clearly worked. She scammed seemingly intelligent people off 700 million dollars.

This sham was sketchy from the start. Some university student inventing a tiny blood test module that could work wonders every other huge biotech company couldnt do in 100 years.

Even possibly a bigger sham were companies involved. The tests were supposedly outsourced to other blood testing companies and secretly earmarked as done by her device. Any company involved should be tried too to see if they were in on it, or they did it as just normal business with another medical company and didnt know.

She commited the crime of stealing money from rich people.
Which is the worst crime someone can commit /s

She should have stolen from someone else and nothing would have happened to her.
White collar crime is prosecuted only when it affect the rich.

This, and the bigger failure than Theranos (I enjoy a good old scam once in a while) was how medical community and regulators allowed it to persist for so long.

lol the best part about this story is how so many billionare investors were fooled by her and gave her millions. Probably just to try and get laid. What a bunch of simps.

I love it.

P.S If she doesnt go to jail for at least a decade there is no hope for the U.S Justice system. She fabricated test results of thousands of real patients. This psychopath should be in prison for life.

I'm sure it was under the guise of "we need to make sure our data is accurate". I'm sure if these companies knew what was going on they would be the first to throw her under the bus as she would be putting all of them out of business if her product panned out. I think everyone knew there was something sketchy going on but not to what extent

Get your facts checked, her machines were routinely misdiagnosing samples and putting out false readings. Imagine you getting tested for a potentially lethal disease and not catching it in time because the machine they did the test was rubbish.

everyone wanted to believe so badly
That blood diagnosis machine, if it ever worked, would be a massively useful invention.

And it came exactly at the time that technology seemed to be going at the speed of light. The first smartphones came out which combined a TV, computer, camera, MP3 player, GPS and a dozen other gadgets in one. Why would it not be possible to combine all types of blood analysis into one box as well ?

Even after reading so much about this Holmes is still a bit of a mystery. There seems to be no financial motive, just a delusional idea that making this magical box was doable if she just pushed hard enough, even if it drove at least one person to suicide. What is one death and a pile of lies compared to the thousands saved by the Theranos machine ?

Why do these kinds of people always seem to have wide open eyes? It seems like a good indicator of some mental issues.

Do the tiniest bit of research before posting drivel.

The concept doesn't pass hold up against a modicum of scrutiny because of the amount of blood drawn from the patients.

This is such a fascinating case, because people who build up these cults of personality always seem to have all the same red flags and creepiness to them, but people still fall for it over and over again all the same.

The company misdiagnosed hiv in one case and in a couple of cases, made a couple of couples believe that they had lost thier baby. I probably need to do more research, but it wasn't just stealing money from billionaires.

Her eyes, smile, and general demeanor remind me of that one woman from Kitchen Nightmares USA. It's just so damn unsettling.

I always wonder what type of wound a person like this must have experienced to be so broken...assuming no other physical/chemical mental issue.

I know this is serious and that she's awful and I hope they throw the book's whole ass at her.....but something about all of this is pretty hilarious too. I mean, look at that fucking person...look at her! If this was a comic book movie, she'd be revealed as the villain 8 minutes into the flick! Batman is coming her her, Spideys swinging into her penthouse window, she poisoned the water supply, she built a device that mind controls folks, she has an ancient evil power inside her, that is a Supervillain and if this was a movie everyone would have pegged her as the baddy in her first scene.

Sometimes....sometimes life is funnier than comedy.
