what is your current and most favorite sleep cd ever?

in my opinion, hopes and fears by keane is like the UTLIMATE sleep cd. they might as well have called it the sleep cd because its perfect for listening to with your headphones on laying in bed. from start to finish every song is sleep time perfection.

if its a mix cd that you cant sleep without please list all or the essential tracks.

side question: who else has gone to sleep listening to music so often for so long that they find it hard to fall asleep without music?

Side question: Me.
Further I like to sleep with a lot of triphop/electronic stuff. Ninjatune's Zen Relaxation series, Prefuse 73's Sleeping On Saturday And Sunday Afternoons, Coffeeshop series, albums from Fat Jon, Nujabes, Daedelus, Sixtoo (a bit too raw sometimes, but still great), Kid Koala, Coldcut, DJ Vadim etc.

I enjoy lying in bed listening to Tom Waits' Small Change album and eventually falling asleep. It's quite relaxing and chill

Anyone know where you can get CDs of white noise from?

Not actually white noise white noise, but more like the sound of rain on roof kinda white noise.

That would be the ultimate sleep cd for me...

but then I used to sleep with the radio on... nowadays I just sleep with the fan on regardless of temp, which is enough white noise.

i don't generally listen to music when i'm trying to sleep, but the rain dripping off the roof is drving me nuts tonight. i'm going to put on the new british sea power (which just goes to show how different the new british sea power is from the first british sea power).

Check out Mark Spybey and Ambre's Sfumato - it's a free download at archive.org (http://www.archive.org/audio/audio-details-db.php?collection=hushush&collectionid=hsh03)

It's sort of industrial ambient stuff, lots of gentle drones and hums, with the odd melody every now and then. Great stuff, and you can't argue with the price.

Other than that I adore Brian Eno's Ambient series, in particular volume 4, On Land. It makes for some gentle and occasionally nostalgia-inducing background sound.

As for a single song, the Smiths' "Asleep" is a good one, especially if you're feeling a bit down.

I don't really listen to music when trying to sleep, but my girlfriend likes this for it:

Can I have your gf? :lol

I HAVE to listen to music in order to fall asleep. I have been for the last few years, every night. Can this have any negative effects in the future?

My favorite are Sigur Ros, Rachels, Explosions in the Sky, and Mike Patton and Kaada's "Romances." But I'll listen to about anything I want to. Last two weeks I've popped in either an XTC or The Smiths compilation
