The 'why I like Nintendo' thread.

How can anyone not like Nintendo. The mention of Nintendo alone causes so much reaction (good, bad, and ugly) here at GAF. Its a source of hours/days of pure unadulterated GAF entertainment even for N-haters.

Then for the fans, Nintendo constantly comes out with awesome games time after time.

Nintendo is a catalyst for fun and drama. I mean where would GAF be without Nintendo. :lol
Long live Big N! Viva la Revolution!

I grew up on Nintendo, and I will die on Nintendo.

If said Nintendo lasts that long that is.

Which I hope they do, but this last round has me scared.

I don't know if I would want to play Miyamoto games on any other platform.

I don't think you have to worry about that for a while. Even in their current state, Nintendo still makes money hand over fist. They'd have to really fuck up (which is always a possibility) to dip into the red. Even then, Sega bled money for a decade before throwing in the towel, and something tells me Nintendo would be a lot more stubborn about it than Sega.

Worse comes to worst, you'll get used to the idea of them as a 3rd party, so long as the quality is still there.

Why would you care which platform the games were made on assuming the games would still be the same and Nintendo didn't turn into Sega?

I will never understand the attachment people have to consoles (Sony, MS, Nintendo, Sega, Gizmondo, etc). Looks like gaming has grown up, but gamers have yet to catch up.

because nintendo is always right about stuff.

we think they are crazy at first... but it all comes together and then everyone steals their crazy idea.

example: OMG... WTF did they do to metroid!!!

2 years and some change later: Metroid Prime is one of the greatest games this generation and it's idea of visor effects have been seen in games like splinter cell and star wars: republic commando... first person shooters will never be the same.

Meh, I've played Super Mario 64 using a XBox Type-S controller (modded XBox), its probably actually bit better than the N64 controller because the analog stick is better.

I'd take Mario 64 on the PSP over the DS version too (bigger screen, analog nub, enough horsepower for texture filtering).

The N64 controller definitely helped bring about analog control and I loved it at the time because it was such a different experience, but it really is a piece of shit. It is cheaply made and is obsolete now. Just didn't age well.

The only reason I want to keep playing Nintendo games on Nintendo hardware is that I wouldn't want to risk a Sega-esque decline in quality.

Still, i must support Bionic here. Machine love or name love shouldn't exist. That's all.
Love the games and the gameplay in them. Love the game characters, it's still acceptable. All else is bullshit really. You're next Mario could be just as nice on Xbox2, Ps3 or Revolution. The quality of the game depends on who's making it. If it's Miyamoto the captain of the ship per example, i wouldn't fear for the game.

Without Nintendo, what would people complain/whine/bitch/troll about here? There wouldn't be anything interesting to read here, at all.
