I'm not saying it will happen.....but Lego City Stories would be the perfect game to push the NFC tech at launch.

They could sell NFC Lego men,vehicles and even individual pieces to be unlocked in game.

Cheap to manufacture as well as they already have thousands of products that could easily be adapted for the format.

These are not exactly brand new (Filed: 5/12/11 - Published: 16/2/12) but I can't find if they were already posted here or not.

First what it seems the Upad's stylus (source)

Regarding the GTA V discussion a page or two back, I think people are forgetting that GTA V was one of the very first games rumored for 'Project Cafe' on 01.net, who have proven reasonably reliable over the past year or so. I would be surprised if it's not coming to Wii U.

Also just had a thought. What if the Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition is ported to Wii U?

I also would be surprised if GTA didn't come to the Wii U.

The fact that Nintendo is publishing also means that they'll have some say in the development of the game so you just know it'll be as polished as any other Nintendo title.

I do hope so, with DLC and online modes that game can be the only disk on my wiiU for a while.

that actually makes alot of sense !! but I hope I can have the option to buy the DLC only as DD and not have to go to a store and buy a figurine for it :/

also from the looks of the back of the Wiiu,,it will use the same Power adapter as the wii which is fine by me. I have 3 already ;) .....Good find btw ^_^

I would think that 01.net was confusing Lego city stories with GTA announcement giving the rumor also said that it'll be announce on E3 ,,but it didnt.
and when is Dark Souls:ptd edition coming out ?? if its at the end of year then maybe

Not sure they would mistake Lego for GTA, even if LCS is an open-world game. 01.net has been quite detailed in their leaks in the past so I would be surprised if that was the case.

I think Dark Souls PC is coming out in August. I think it's possible for Wii U at least, I don't expect it though.

I hope you are right at the money , GTA V anounced first on WiiU would be big,,,so big that it'll trend for a whole week on twitter lol
August launch for DS means it might come to the wiiu, who's publishing it btw ? and is it PS3,X360,PC title ?
 
Every time I think of GTA on a Nintendo system I'm like nahhh, could never happen...

But then I remember Wii got Bully which was pretty great, and though IIRC Chinatown Wars underperformed on DS it was the best GTA experience in years for me due to the addictive drug trade and winning a house via scratch-off game.
 
If Nintendo manages to secure GTA V for at least a month of two (I doubt investors greenlighted the waste of enough money to get the full exclusive), I'm going to be laughing for a week.

They got Manhunt 2 without any trouble (sans censorship by rating boards, not Nintendo itself) so I doubt there's any kind of trouble with GTA AT ALL.

I was hoping that the Wii U would get a port of the South Park RPG, if they let South Park on their console then they would let anything.

It's published by Namco Bandai and yeah it's PC/PS360, the PS360 versions came out last year, but the PC version is coming this August, so I don't think it'd be too much of a stretch for a Wii U version to come out at the end of the year.

You know I actually owned that game, I would have never remembered that if you hadn't posted that. When I think of Nintendo and South Park together I can't help but think of the two-part episode where Cartman want's the Wii so bad he freezes himself, to speed up time. As a gaming fan I always laugh about that, because as these threads have shown, that's actually how anxious people seem to get.

Hmm...doesn't make much sense to me but then again electricity is not my thing.

Correct me If I'm wrong but, if the power brick's output is rated at 12V DC/3.7A, isn't that "fixed"?

How can the console "ask for more" than that?!?

if its rated at 3.7 A doesn't mean that the Wii will suck all the 3.7 A ,,,,i dunno either I'll let the mic with someone who knows more about electricity cuz I sure dont ^_^"

The Wii's power brick is only rated at 50W. It's expected that the Wii U's brick will be rated higher.

What the power brick supplies is a set voltage and up to some amperage. Wii's DC power is 12V IIRC, so if the WiiU power brick produces 12V on its turn, you will be able to use WiiU's power brick with a Wii but likely not the other way round, as WiiU's power consumption will be likely higher than Wii's. Basically, whatever amperage the Wii's power brick produces it won't suffice for WiiU, but the reverse won't be true.

And the fact that it would be pointless for Rockstar. The company would probably make so much more money putting it across multiple consoles. It is not in Nintendo's interests to moneyhat GTA when the majority of the audience is on other consoles, what a waste of money.
 
The money required to moneyhat Rockstar and GTA in any way, shape or form, even just timed exclusive DLC, would be way more than it's worth. That kind of money would be better spent on pursuing new games.

Yep, you're absolutely correct here. The voltage is fixed but the current rating is actually a cap. The system is unable to draw more than 3.7A from the brick but doesn't have to draw that much current from the brick if it doesn't need to.

On a slightly off topic but related note, Power = Voltage * Current. So since the voltage is fixed, the systems power draw is directly proportional to it's current draw.

they are the same, u might have to flip one or the other to stack .

Oh, it's not a matter of letting. It hasn't been for decades. Nintendo isn't rejecting anyone from releasing M rated games, it's just that nobody does it for one reason or another. Wrong target audience, Nintendo doesn't give us enough money and support like the others do, etc.

This is true, the best they could do is getting the DLC episodes (if there are any) as timed exclusives, that way they could at least try to lure a few people from the PS360 audience over to the Wii U. Similarly, I think Nintendo should try and get COD map packs as timed exclusives as MS' deal runs out this year. Timed exclusives on DLC for big games like these would be within reach for Nintendo and could be effective in getting people to 'jump ship', the way I see it ports alone of these games won't do and full exclusivity is not realistic (at least for these examples) so offering some extra incentive in the form of DLC would probably be the most reasonable option for them to attempt to actually get PS360 gamers to go for the Wii U.

As I've been trying to explain, the Wii adaptor simply won't fit. Nintendo's engineers already considered this conundrum for you so you don't need to hurt your brain over it.

Chinatown Wars was a portable spin-off, the mainline games sell above 10 million on consoles so it's virtually impossible for a game like that to be an exclusive, especially on a Nintendo console.

Most people also thought Nintendo would never attempt at getting Monster Hunter and look what happened. Still, GTA is much bigger but I don't think they haven't thought about it before.

Wii U's most expected launch is November. Assuming that's the case, Nintendo paying for a "month or two" would push the PS360 versions into January. There's no way Rockstar would agree to that, almost regardless of the money offered. Actually, Nintendo better hope GTA V doesn't launch before the Wii U, because the situation is more likely to be reversed. IF Nintendo gets it at all.

I can picture Nintendo moneyhatting Rockstar to get a version at launch. I can picture Nintendo moneyhatting Rockstar to keep other versions from coming out until the U launches. Timed DLC? That wouldn't hold much value in a game of that scope, since most probably wouldn't have beaten the game by the time that exclusivity ends. Nintendo paying for bonus exclusive missions? Yeah maybe. But I picture Sony and Microsoft doing the same thing.

We'll see, probably by June what's going on though. It *would* be worth overpaying to a certain extent just to get something noteworthy (or get it at all) and to send a message to gamers and the press early. But I'm pretty sure Nintendo will agree that the sticker price of doing anything too interesting isn't worth the investment.

It would cost a ton to moneyhat a big western dev franchise though, it would probaly make Nintendo lose money after that bill.

GTA is much bigger than Monster Hunter. And MH became an exclusive in part due to the PS3's failure to sell anywhere near PS2 numbers, whereas GTA has a proven audience on multiple systems that are still available and will be in direct competition with Wii U for at least a year. For GTA to ever become an exclusive for anyone there would have to be a huge shift in the market to allow for such a situation.

Best case, but unlikely, is that they got the game on the system and Rockstar to come on stage to say so during their press conference, presenting a few unique features with the controller - basically just to say "this time we've got games like this as well".

This is really the attention getter way they need to go about things. E
veryone defacto goes haha COD will be shown at MS event. With the way some of the New COD features practically scream Wii U would be a hell of a coup for Treyarch to get up at the Nintendo event and demo the game and show those features being used on the tablet.
