not sure what xbox fans defend that conference.

also, i don't know where microsoft goes from there. halo 4 will be a centerpiece of their conference this year, and destiny might be as well. do they back down on kinect? i am not sure on how well it's been selling. they have an hour to kill, so there will probably be a small showcase of kinect stuff at least. microsoft doesn't have a dedicated gaming handheld to share space in their conference. and despite the good and solid sales, those have been declining over the last few months, so i'm not sure what they have to crow about either.

The pace of these threads are amazing. I honestly thought the 5th would last until tomorrow morning for me... But damn you guys act quickly. I heavily doubt this will last. The question is, will we have an 8th thread before this is all said and done?

Realistic I think. Wii launched at 399 vs the US price of 249. Our dollar is stronger so that's going to make $499 more realistic, especially when compared in the local market to $450 360s and similar priced PS3s.

$399 Aus would be nice though.

As long as speculation is needed, there will always be a speculation mehathread. Although, after launch it will transform into a Wii U general advice thread. :)

So...Nintendo pretty much did what most would consider impossible(by the close minded anyway) and made a quality fighter in Smash Bros that is based around analog inputs and a completely different archetype from what is the ordinary. Not only that, but it had options galore, stages that were actually different and not just backdrops, etc.

Now, that said...can anyone come up with a control scheme and mechanic for a new type of fighter than can utilize the Umote and it's feature set? It would obviously have to be different from Smash, SF, as well as Tekken/VF. I can't come up with a single idea for what it could be. Well, maybe something with Mechs. They could each have their own unique uses with the screen such as special weapon control, stationary/mobile/flight cameras, maybe hacking others cockpits...stuff like that.

Eh...I just keep thinking about a REmake style Virtual On now. Or that one Mech game that is going to be free on PC.
Or Custom Robo.

I really hope Nintendo hits it out of the park this year after the unexciting, somewhat confusing 2011 show. I'm mainly a PC gamer now, but the 12-year-old in me that was blown away playing Mario 64 on December 25th, 1996 wants to see journalists say "yeah, Nintendo figured it out this time". I hope they shock the doubters.

It's annoying that shipping costs probably cancel out the pure currency advantage of importing. The warranty would probably be void too? It's going to be a pain having to wait a couple of weeks before a game arrives from England or where ever, hopefully there's a pack in.

Won't happen and not interested anyways. The games were designed for 480p and some parts aren't scalable, such as 2D HUD interfaces and menus. Nintendo is not one to allow their games to be viewed in a wonky format.
