Define people.
1. indefinitely or collectively; persons in general
2. persons, whether men, women, or children, considered as numerable individuals forming a group
3. human beings, as distinguished from animals or other beings.
4. the entire body of persons who constitute a community, tribe, nation, or other group by virtue of a common culture, history, religion, or the like
5. the persons of any particular group, company, or number (sometimes used in combination)

Hmm, so which of these definitions was in love with the Dreamcast as it was cast into oblivion?

Define people. I knew and was around a fair number of gamers at the time and the sole positive thing I ever heard about the Dreamcast was some guy saying the NFL game he was playing at the EB Games kiosk looked better than the N64 NFL games.

Also, much much less anectdotal, sales.

The whole Dreamcast situation happened just as I was getting back into gaming more heavily after college. I'd played maybe 10 games during the N64 years, didn't follow much gaming news, didn't read gaming magazines.. I was pretty much a NintenHermit up until around 2002, so I didn't get to read the story of the Dreamcast until years later.

I'm sure that the boards were a very interesting place to be when the maker of consoles withdraws from that scene. Kinda glad I missed it.

the second one or maybe the fifth.

That's what I was thinking, but then numbers above 2 aren't involved and I'm sure at least 2 people loved the Dreamcast before it was culled. So I grudgingly admit "people" could have been used there, techincally if not in spirit.

It was weird, I remember the return of Sega, Bernie Stoler, 9-9-99, and then.... not much. I worked in the JC Penny catalogue department that Christmas and the only video games asked for were Pokemon and Playstation (and Fubu which we were sold out of the entire time and I still don't understand). Later I find the Dreamcast was beloved beyond all belief, shame it wasn't while it was new.

while it was sega's decisions that were finally catching up with them, what it seemed like at the time, was that sony had forced sega out of the market, and they did it with a thing that had very few games worth playing and was hard to develop for, while sega had a machine with a bunch of great exclusive games and a strong first-party lineup.

2000 was an awesome year for the dreamcast, even if it didn't really sell much. however, i think it probably would have beaten the gamecube and xbox in worldwide sales if sega had the money to keep it going for another 4-5 years.

kinda strange that Sega had no money in the vault to tough this out. they deserve to be our here more than MS but hey we can't go back now

I had to google Stoler. One of my favorite sentences at Wikipedia about him:

Wikipedia said:
Stolar is remembered for his controversial policies on what games would be permitted release in America, most notably banning RPGs and 2D games, which he felt were "too nerdy" to represent the fledgling console's public image, and didn't properly demonstrate the PlayStation's processing power.

Wow. That is incredible. I knew that Sony was trying to push a new image for gaming, but I didn't know that that kind of narrow-minded thinking was already being pushed to such an extent. Holy crap.

microsoft was really desperate at the beginning of the xbox to just kinda buy any established studio and basically have them do all the first-party stuff. couldn't get nintendo. couldn't get sega (although they got a lot of exclusives), but they did manage to get bungie and that worked really well, and they also got rare and the stampers laughed all the way to the bank.

if microsoft bought sega outright, we'd probably essentially have had two more sega consoles.

also if sammy hadn't forced sega into that merger, we'd almost certainly have had at least one more sega console.

I'm worried about you, hoping you won't be banned but your word usage is too confusing for anyone to take offense.

(not making fun of you as I understand you always)

I get banned all time for spelling on here and I'am Dyslexic I can look all day and not see what wrong with a word I know what it should look like but alot of the time I try not to get OCD about, but then they other that like to point that stuff out ;/

best not to think about it or ill be here all day on one replay

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
If world premiere is June 8th for anything Unreal 4 related (3 days after Wii U's conference), then I guess it's safe to assume that Unreal Engine 4 won't support Wii U.

It's not going to get announced for the Wii U until they've sorted it out for other platforms first.

Oh, I don't care WHAT you are, I was just hoping you'd make it to E3, Nitnendo has lost too many fans here to bullshit.

Hmm. Color me skeptical that UE4 will ever have a major role in the U's lifespan. If it has any role, it will be late, scaled-down, and limited.

Boss Doggie

all my loli wolf companions are so moe
You think I should change my avatar? But the only Nintendo related avatars I have are Pokemon and Wolf O'Donnell.

lol I well so many stupid comments before they seen what at E3 already made up they mind, dont see what wrong with point that out

Nothing is wrong with making light of those predictable people, this is neogaf though, more likely to give leeway to Nintendo bashers than others.

Nintendo will always be the butt of the jokes, it's because they matter that much and are that relevant.
