NISA Store only just got back to me and said my order was fulfilled. This is kind of disappointing since it was billed over a week ago and I live outside of the US. Now I play the waiting game...
Watched a friend play this and we were both kind of put off, then I read some reviews and it doesn't sound promising as far as getting better later in the game.
Don't think I'll be opening my copy actually.

I'd heard this was sort of a JRPG diablo-like which sparked my interest, so I played a few hours of it this week.
- Mechanically, there are a ton of systems at work with all the stats-porn I'd expect for this type of game. The combat pacing felt very strange at first
until I figured out how you're supposed to arrange your weapons for maximum chaining.
. Enjoying it more now.
- The enemies scale to your level. As with the Disgaea games, it seems you are expected to overcome this with improved gear.
- The camera is a bit of a pain. It's going for the overhead Diablo-cam, which is fine, but there's a ton of foreground stuff in the way. Half the time I can't see my dude because of all the tree-branches in the way. I end up just chasing the enemy health-bars which render through obstacles.
- Artistically, the field artwork is quite nice albeit repetitive from what I've seen so far. It's nice to see an NIS-published game that tries to push the rendering quality a bit.
- The script is frankly just strange. While I get that the situations and tone are darker than NIS's usual, I'd love to know to what degree the translation is exacerbating things? Kinda feels like some junior-high school kid's idea of edgy writing. I wonder if they were gunning to try and get an M rating but didn't quite make it? TBH, I'm not sure how they avoided it after seeing the
second
Act where
Visco is captured.
All in all, I'm having a pretty good time with the mechanics at least. We'll see how it fares after a few more hours. I could see it getting old pretty quick if things don't switch up
(just got my first Tochky thing which opens up a few new areas and seems to hint at a zeldavania progression structure)
The BF got me this game and I'm just now playing it. I'm struggling through the pacing issues at the beginning. It's very stop and start. I love the world and characters, but the story has no forward momentum. Like there is literally no reason for me to be attacking with woman in the forest other than Metallica telling me to do her bidding. I'm really hoping it opens up more because I want to enjoy this! I have faith in Nippon Ichi, it's just been a weird three hours or so with this game.
It's a quirky little actiony rpg game. I liked what I had played of it so far but there's a glitch with the game where it will randomly close the game and exit out to the XMB without warning. Which means you can easily lose a lot of progress even if you save diligiently. It pissed me off so much that I'm not picking up the game again until they patch it.
