My monitor is already only 1440x900, so the prospect of dropping to 1336x768 is pretty unappealing for a game where the visual fidelity is such a big deal.EviLore said:You'll be able to play with tiny black bars at the top and bottom, unless that's a huge deal for you.
Preload is tomorrow for GOG onlyJWong said:Can we preload now?
Doesn't look like it. I want to be wrong though.Dizzy-4U said:Really hoping that there's a pre-download on Steam. It will take me like 3 or 4 days to download with my current ISP and I want to be there day 1.
It's kind of lame/weird. They are supporting the Steam version with Steamworks but not preload. I can wait a few hours for it to download but it would had been nice for CDPR to allow preloading on the Steam version.Dizzy-4U said:Really hoping that there's a pre-download on Steam. I'm assuming it'd still output at 1440x900, only the black bars would reduce the rendered resolution to 1440x810.Dance In My Blood said:My monitor is already only 1440x900, so the prospect of dropping to 1336x768 is pretty unappealing for a game where the visual fidelity is such a big deal.

I might be wrong as I haven't been keeping close track but I think I've had 3 permanent ones thus far. It definitely doesn't happen often.MickeyKnox said:Avatar change, I haven't done that in fucking forever.
Dice said:The videos I have seen make rolling and whatnot seem like a big deal, almost Zelda-ish in some parts. I might want to try pad even though it's always nice having spells, map, inventory, etc. all with dedicated buttons on KB. If they're making it so you can flip between pad and KBM on the fly, they are truly the new masters of RPGs.

jaundicejuice said:I know people like to whinge about Outer Vizima but I didn't mind the pace of that section because it allowed me the time to come to grips with The Witcher's mechanics, specifically figure out how important alchemy is. You learn to make potions fairly early in TW1 that you will be using and abusing throughout the entirety of the game.
Meh, the "story so far' bit in the OP does a good job of recapping the first game. Each paragraph is an act (prologue -> act 1-5 -> epilogue, ending movie). Considering the first game takes 30-40 hours minimum, during which there's still a lot of general jankiness and tedious segments - I'd say fuck it.Guardian Bob said:So, are people going to recommend the first game? Nothing too concrete. There should be mod tools released eventually, but not at launch.piratepwnsninja said:<-YOINK
BTW, has there been any word on mod tools?
Vasilisk said:In fact I loved Chapter 1, I didn't know much about the game and I was certainly impressed. And yeah, about TW1 potions, Cat & Swallow & Blizzard FTW. Even in Hard, with those potions you would defeat anything.

What about people who have monitor with aspect ratio of 4:3
