The Witcher 3 Is Reportedly Set To Receive New DLC

Or is it just one of Adam's balls in my throat?

CD Projekt's 2015 action role-playing game, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, is set to receive brand new DLC, according to a report.

During the latest episode of the Rock and Borys podcast, co-host Borys Nieśpielak claimed that multiple independent sources within the Polish games industry have confirmed to him that new DLC for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is set to be released. He believes now is "the best moment to announce this expansion," adding that he would be genuinely surprised if CD Projekt didn't reveal it soon. When co-host Remigiusz "Rock" Maciaszek asked whether an announcement was truly imminent, Nieśpielak reassured that his claim isn't based on speculation.

Nieśpielak explained that he had verified the information via "several other sources, including one of the biggest," and asked his audience to remain calm because the DLC is a "sure thing." Rock responded that he trusted his co-host but still felt "a bit up in the air" without access to the same sources, saying he's waiting for an official confirmation from CD Projekt.

The podcast co-host's comments are noteworthy because he has long-standing connections with game developers across Poland, and his credibility within that circle lends extra weight to the claim. While he did not reveal any details about the nature of the DLC, such as whether it would be a small number of quests or a full-blown expansion, his confidence suggested that the project is well underway.

The discussion also led to speculation regarding where the new DLC for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt would get announced. Rock talked bout CD Projekt always being present at major events. , Michał Nowakowski, Joint-CEO of CD Projekt, recently stated that the studio won't be bringing any new content to The Game Awards this year. That said, he added that him and the development teams are, as always, excited to watch the show and celebrate the industry's great night alongside the fans.

Long story short, Fool's Theory aka the studio working on this rumored expansion was contracted to work on Witcher 1 remake which is supposed to be developed on the same tech as Witcher 4. There are some theories that CDPR was still working with Epic on their updates to UE5 when Fool's Theory wrapped up their own project and have to wait to start working on TW1 remake and because they didn't had anything else going on so this expansion kinda happened as kind of a stopgap to keep them going

Wasn't there supposed to be a kinda user mod Skyrim type system added to consoles?

If so, these could come together, to beef out the release. Searching now.

Edit: Gemini 3 says I'm right, "Yes, The Witcher 3 is officially bringing user mods to consoles (PS5, Xbox Series X|S) via an official update, but it's been delayed from 2025 to an unspecified time in 2026, using the mod.io platform for cross-platform sharing, though some PC mods won't be available due to content restrictions. Players will access mods through an in-game menu, but creation is still PC-based using tools like the Redkit. "

I bet this is a clue! Could be true! They are still trying to coddle us completely back into our good graces by pulling off neat shit like this so it tracks. They will have us all back at this rate. Maybe the Geoff statue is Witcher 3 xpak!?

And who is actually going to be making it? CDPR are pretty transparent about who is doing what at their company. Everyone internally is already occupied with TW4, CP2, project Sirus (multiplayer Witcher) and project Hadar (new IP). There's like 20 people unaccounted for doing 'other' work not specified, which is not enough to make a good DLC. Unless they are also outsourcing it to Fools Theory, a developer made up of ex-CDPR devs who making the Witcher 1 remake for them.

Meh, I'd prefer they'd be all hands on deck to have TW4 release as soon as possible
It never fails to get these types of posts.

Do you honestly believe its being developed at CDPR? I'd wager anything it is being outsourced.

I would temper expectations on this being anything truly great.

Although, when used new DLC for Borderlands 2 to promote Borderlands 3, it ended up being quite good.

Pretty cool. Witcher 3 is one of my most played games. I enjoyed it a lot.

It will be great to go back and play it with a new set up, RT and all with a smooth framerate and 4K resolution.

Hopefully this means they'll actually optimize the newest version more. It's crazy how great Cyberpunk's CPU utilization is while this is still dog shit. There's really no excuse, and if they're gonna go back and work on it, the least they can do is finish the optimization pass they never did when the RTX version released.
