The Witcher 3 PS4 gameplay

On easy and medium HP regens very slowly and very little at the time, but meditation instantly gives you all HP back. Potions and food can be used to regen HP too, e.g. during combat.

On hard and dark HP doesn't regen anymore automatically and meditation doesn't give you HP back either. You are forced to use food and potions and such to recover any lost HP.

Hard it is! Well, it was gonna be anyway, as this game is supposedly easier overall than TW2.

Was going to play on hard but hearing your health doesn't regen after fights or from meditation kinda makes me feel it may get annoying.

I don't normally like playing games on hard. I wish they'd do the stuff listed here for hard without making combat super hard.

I love having to worry about my hp overall and keeping track of health potions cause that's the only way to heal and playing like a survival game but I kinda suck at combat usually so I don't like playing too difficult bosses. It's kinda like I love how hardcore mode in New Vegas wasn't tied with difficulty but was a seperate thing (because I love that kind of thing but I am not big on combat that is too difficult). I wonder if it will let you change settings mid game? I may try hard and move it to medium if it just gets too frustrating to me.

What streams have shown you can find quite a lot food from various places and eating even e.g. one chicken leg seems to give you quite a lot HP back over X seconds. I think you guys should give Hard a try, if you have considered it until now, as game allows you to adjust difficulty level on the fly.

Edit: Watched Mendrox stream and
Yennefer seems to be an quite a character :b

Definitely picking hard then

What use is meditation if it doesn't regen health?

From the Hitbox stream. About like the other one I made of the same area, but a bit longer.

lol gif from my stream? I tried to look at areas etc to give an outlook of the world :o

Anybody else got some heavy micro stutter when they slowly turn the camera? It also happens while riding, really distracting!

To hasten passage of time. E.g. some events may be triggered only at specific times of day or monster you are hunting isn't in its nest during day so you can use meditation to quickly get into night time.

You can change stuff midgame. Besides some stuff (No destination markers, only clues etc) can be switched on/off. Just that higher difficulties force stuff on, like less EXP etc..

The only thing pushing me away from Hard is the whole mission marker thing. I don't want to wander around not knowing where the fuck to go every other mission.

Apparently you have to do a lot more work/research for a mission marker to appear on the map on Hard+. A bummer, really. Sometimes I just want the enemies to hit harder :(

Has that aspect been detailed anywhere? Like, has anyone detailed the difference between normal and hard for the quest markers? I'd like to know before starting...

I think I want to start the game on hard based on what everyone is saying...you can still lower the difficulty at any point I assume right?

Not sure, I'm in the same situation as you. I'm torn between Normal or Hard. I've heard Normal is pretty easy. But it sucks if I have to do more work to get quest markers to appear.

Any info in this? Any confirmation?

Ha! I'm totally opposite. I don't want the enemies to hit harder, I just want the game to make me stratagize more (and a more survival feel to it). I think New Vegas did it mostly right with them having a hardcore mode and a difficulty that were seperate from each other. That way you could have your harder hitting bosses without having to deal with more work/strategizing/trying to balance stuff out and I could ahve my more survival aspect and force me to think more about what I'm doing (like what I'm carrying for example) and make me work more to get those quests (more research) without having the harder combat.

I wonder why more games don't separate difficulty of combat with the other things they'll throw in to make things harder. It can't be that hard to implement (or at least make difficulty affect combat only and also have a seperate mode to make other stuff more difficult).

Mission marker as in part of the quest or marker as in quest available.
Dont mind the former do hate the later.

I just want to know when i walk into a town if a quest is available.
The sub parts of the quest i don't mind doing more work for it.

Are you saying that I could turn on the stuff like hp not regenerating and requiring food/health potions to regain HP without having to up difficulty? Or is that tied to difficulty only?

This sounds fantastic.

I'm sold. Now to research whether or not I should buy on PS4 or PC. People are saying I'd get much better performance on PC, but if I can't hold close to 60fps with decent settings (medium would be fine), then playing on PS4 is more convenient.

What are your specs?
