I'm looking for any excuse to skip Witcher 2 and jump straight to Witcher 3 (if only to lighten my backlog).
Can Witcher 3 be considered such an exceptional refinement of the Witcher series' mechanics that someone could skip Witcher 2, and then play Witcher 3 for 100+ hours and not miss too much?
To get an idea of exactly what I mean or exactly what kind of answer I'm looking for, here are some analogies:
I would skip Viva Pinata 1 and go straight to Viva Pinata Trouble In Paradise because Trouble In Paradise is a sequel that is more like a definitive edition of the Viva Pinata experience. There is no point in playing Viva Pinata when Trouble In Paradise is available.
On the other hand, I read an article that praised the incredible/detailed lore in Dragon Age, and because of that article, I've decided I will definitely play Dragon Age 1/2 before I ever tackle Dragon Age Inquisition.
I do have the Witcher 2 disc on 360, and I even own the game digitally thanks to GWG, so playing it will come at no cost. I'm just wondering if I should retire it from my backlog and go to Witcher 3 or if I should stick to the game.
