Are there plans for DVD's of the Wonder Years??? Amazon.com has a "best of" DVD but I heard that is shit and just basically contains the pilot and the finale. On Ebay there are VHS recorded to DVD collections of all the episodes, but the quality is probably pretty questionable. BTW, feel free to turn this into a Wonder Years love thread and go ahead and post pictures of Whinnie Cooper in those bathing suits. :D

Greatest coming of age show of all time. I'm sure i'm not the only one that had a thing for Winnie Cooper back in the day

Winnie was the shit back in the day. She's even gotten hotter over time. I would love to see this in DVD quality. I guess I'll just buy it off of ebay. I loved how epic the story was, like Boy Meets World, from child to adult. Seriously my favorite show ever made. It also had the best finale, no cheese, it was fucking perfect. That is the one show I was ever disappointed to see cancelled. I'm pretty sure the Simpsons will be the second one day.

Best show ever if you ask me. I don't think there has been a show since with such good acting, writing, and plot. It's the only show/movie to ever make me cry (the episode where his math teacher dies, Mr. Connors I believe his name was and the last episode were tear jerkers).

I think ebay has some 8 DVD sets with all the episodes and I am going to buy one soon.

I don't remember for sure, but I do remember it was a tear jerker and really really really really effin good. That's one of the reasons I want to buy it again. I just remember their car breaking down in the rain and they end up going into a barn and making out and whatnot and basically implies that they didn't end up together. Then they did a quick reference to each family member. the brother ends up doing something important, the dad dies like two years later from a heart attack and i don't know about the mother.

Thanks Mupepe.. shit, it's been almost like what, 12 years that I last watched that show and you know what, knowing about the ending now has gotten me really sad...

Whinnie Cooper heads off to Europe, while Kevin remains in the U.S. and has a family. There's a narration from the adult Kevin and that's about it for the series.

and isn't it the greatest? god, i just knew the basics really, been so long. i also liked boy meets world. that show was awesome.

Most series cost around $50 per season on DVD but I'd easily pay upwards of $70 a season if The Wonder Years ever came out on DVD (to cover the cost of the music). I'm sure I'm not alone.

TWY is easily one of the top 5 shows to come out on network television in the past twenty years.

IAWTP!!!!

I loved the wonder years, and I even bought the best of DVD, and I love it. Its a cool little disc, and I thought the series finale was superb and well done. I remember getting a little teary eyed when the narrator said that his older brother took over the shop after dad died, and they show you the dad smiling and laughing at the parade. That was sad...

I would like to see some kind of Wonder Years Reunion show

I actually knew a couple of guys in college who thought Boy Meets World was the superior show. When they told me this, I just proceeded to stare at them as if they were shitting from their mouths.

Boy Meets World was an awesome awesome show, but I didnt like the last couple of seasons when they made Corey into an old Jewish guy. I mean who spoke like that??? He had this sort of whiny nasaly speech pattern, and it was like listening to an old Jewish guy tell stories about his youth.

Also, Boy Meets World, can never compare to TWY!!!

Not to derail the topic or anything, but i'd rather them hold off on releasing The Wonder Years and eventually doing it right rather them doing the hack job that a lot of TV shows are getting these days. There are a ton of shows that are getting altered because of music license fees. Rather than putting out the money to get it done right, they change it. It's a damn shame too and it's amazing how common it is. I had no idea it was so widespread. I heard about a few shows but there are by far more than I expected.

Some of the more well known ones include:

American Dreams
Angel
A-Team
Cheers
Dawson's Creek
Felicity
Freeks and Geeks
Greatest American Hero
Happy Days
Las Vegas
Married With Children
Quantum Leap
Scrubs
Wonder Years(Best of DVD)
Wonderfalls

Yes, exactly. If I needed to give someone an example of over-acting, I would point them to this show's later seasons. Anyways, I always thought Boy Meets World was an okay show, but nothing close to The Wonder Years. It had way too much fluff (no, not as much as say, Full House or Step by Step, but still too much for me). The crap with Mr Feeny was just too much.

about how much do the dvd sets go for? i don't want to pay an arm and a leg, although i might have to.

Last time I checked (like a month ago) they were around $40-60. I remember last year seeing them for $115 though, so I'm was real interested last month, but I'm still hoping they go down a little.

The only problem about releasing official DVD's would be having to buy all 7 or 8 seasons. That would be mighty expensive even for those bonus features that I know I'd have to have.

Currently sets of The Wonder Years are being sold on eBay....7 discs with all the episodes. My guess is that the quality is going to be assy and/or they won't play on a normal DVD player. It's all available on torrents anyhow, so you're better off just doing that rather than letting someone else profit off the show.

Where'd you get that list from? I'm pretty sure that Freaks & Geeks has everything from the original airings intact. That was one of its selling points, even.

Yeah, music licensing is a huge hitch on TV-to-DVD releases, although mostly for older shows. Now that season sets are pretty much expected for even the crumbiest of shows, all of this crap is hammered out beforehand.

Anyone know if there are music issues with the Knight Rider sets?

Joe Cocker was the artist who sang that song.

"With a Little Help From My Friends"

Which version was the original, Cocker's or The Beatles?

For the record, I think JC's is by far the better version.

All Maxim's best airbrushers really can't do much for her screwy looking face. She has a pug-like cuteness, but trampy photographs of her just look weird.

www.tvshowsondvd.com

That was just a list of noteables that had listed music changes. There are a lot of shows with minor changes to the footage including stuff like Buffy and Angel.

Oh good god, she is hot. Pug like face my ass. :P Haha, I think she has a cute face, very unique to say the least. But you can get the episodes on torrent? that would be sweet, I'm going to have to find it.

People don't want to pay more than $50 for a DVD season set.

LOL... My gf has just finished her X-Files collection, and she has paid 100€ (around 125$) per set. In Spain, Europe... And you Americans keep on complaining about game and DVD prices... Come over here and you'll learn the true meaning of rip-off.

X-Files sets are $150 in the US.

Well they gladly did it for X-Files, Star Trek, Farscape, and virtually every single drama that HBO ever made (and those were tiny 13 episode sets). The Wonder Years has such a big following and nostalgia factor that I think people would still pay a premium price. I'm still pretty astounded that Freaks and Geeks came out with the vast majority of licensed music intact.....if they can pull that off for something with such a niche following, certainly something as well-loved and long-running as The Wonder Years could do it. The first season is only 8 episodes -- they ought to at least give it a try and see what the response is. Anything is better than no releases at all, or crappy budget priced "Best Of" sets.

I don't really care about the replacement of music so long as the music isn't integral to the show (as it is in the case of Wonder Years and Ally McBeal). The replacement of background tunes for something like Scrubs or Married With Children is ultimately irrelevant.

I bought seasons 3-5 of the X-Files for AUS$80 the other day (buy 2 at $40 get 1 free) . Some places have them as cheap as $30 a season before. Also only paid $20 for Arrested Development.

Why exactly are Star Trek DVDs so expensive? I mean I haven't seen TNG, Voyager or DS9 DVDs (though I know they exist), but TOS and Enterprise DVDs are over $100 per volume.

This happened with WKRP, a really good sitcom about a radio station, in reruns on TV. Though some stations still air the originals.

Because completist (the sort of people who collect all the stars in Mario games) Star Trek geeks will pay that much for them, and there are enough of them that the increase in revenue from that segment is greater than the corresponding decrease in revenue from normal people who would never think of spending $100+ on a set of 8 or 9 plastic/aluminum discs.

holy hell
winnie is smart

Danica took a hiatus from acting for college, and she graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics!

Ouch, really sucks how they change music and stuff. =( Never actually really knew that.. and I was thinking of buying some of my favorite shows on DVD too.. Eh.. As for the Wonder Years, I loved that show.
