EDIT: I checked it out, it IS difficult/impossible to find a standalone QT player. That does not change the fact that the guy is a fool.

Lately, newer trailers have been sending me to the iTunes download page saying that I need it to watch.

I think that's usually for the largest or full-screen trailer. Have you tried picking smaller sizes?

They're trying to recoup bandwidth costs from farming out high-quality versions of some trailers by charging, now. It's kind of insane how they're charging you for the ability to watch their advertisement, but at the same time, bandwidth costs are big for popular large video files.
