I didn't realize you were linking to some strap seller's account. I wanted to check out the watch, not normally into square watches, but that does look good. Not into watches that expensive though. I would not be comfortable walking around with it.




This was right below when I clicked on your link and I absolutely love that strap on that black watch. Makes me want to find a black watch to match that look.

It's a statement piece that I wouldn't mind having one day. I'd also get it to serve as a reminder to myself that hard work pays off.

If you get the opportunity then slap it on your wrist (2019 model) and see if it does anything for you.

I understand all the arguments for the fancy watches, but it can't overcome my own feelings of anxiety to wear something that costs over 5k on your person. I can afford something technically. I just have overwhelming paranoia about it. Especially when you understand how easily someone who knows watches can identify something at a glance.

I'm also not hanging about in affluent areas, so there's that. If I was guy in office work and socializing with other office worker types. I'd definitely have a bigger watch collection. Embody the American Psycho watch battling lifestyle. Like that Key and Peele hat bit.

My worry is about getting mugged. If I was going to fancy event, which is not something I do, I wouldn't have a problem flaunting.

Currently rocking a seamaster 300m, well normally I am, but its currently getting serviced (cant upload images for some reason so have to link to watch). https://www.omegawatches.com/en-gb/watch-omega-seamaster-diver-300m-chronograph-41-5-mm-22258000

Looking at getting another watch for my 10th wedding anniversary, started looking at doxa and certinas, but then started to expand my search by upping the budget, and now really tempted by the longines zulu spirit (and get a leather strap separate)

There us a new Zulu time. It's got Henry Cavil plastered all over it, or the other way around. You can't miss it. Caramel bezzel.

I actually tried it on today. It's flashy like a Rolex. Feels like a statement piece.

Yeah that looks nice, but bit too much though. Hoping to go trafford centre at weekend to have a look, think im set on one of the following:

Spirit zulu (one with either green or black bezel) on bracelet and then get a OEM leather strap to swap out. Was looking at the 39mm, but the 42mm seems to be showing up in a few sales, but will come down to how they fit.
Or
Tudor black bay 54 with bracelet, and then buy 3rd party leather strap.
Or
Tudor black bay 58 with leather strap, and then get 3rd party bracelet; OEM bracelet isn't supposed to be that good on the 58.

Interested to see if I can get any discount, as the wifey is getting a ring at the same time.

So tried on a few watches today, ended up with the black bay 58, stunning watch and was no contest between this and the longines zulu time in the end.

Finally got my seamaster back from its service, feels so different to the tudor. Going to pick up a nato strap (and maybe a zealande rubber) for the seamaster for something different.
Now have to decide which to wear each day.

Next watch will be slightly less fancy, perhaps another gshock or smart watch like the amazfit t-rex or a garmin instinct 3. Then in the future a more dressy watch like the Omega globemaster, Omega aqua terra or a Rolex date just (I can dream).

When I got my Omega back from service (through Omega) they included a little baggie of the old parts. Pretty cool that they do that.
 
Just bought my 4th Tag Heuer SEL chrono. I don't know why, but the Tags from the 80s to early 2000s got me hooked by the balls. I look at all their newer models, and they look like jewelry, which they're obviously. But you then check at their older models, and it's like you're wearing a style, not a watch, and there's so many different ones.

I didnt get any replaced parts, but it wasn't omega directly servicing it, but it was an accredited omega service centre. Wish I did though, would be cool to see the parts.

Going to check their fb/ insta accounts to see if they took any pics of their work, as would be nice to see the guts of it.
 
I've been wearing an Apple Series 10 46mm, aluminum, pretty much since they launched. I like it a lot. It makes some work tasks more convenient, and overall it's very useful in general. A charge lasts a surprisingly long time, and has held up over time.

I opted for the silvery metal band, and the watch body is silver/grey - so I think it looks nice.
 
impulse bought a new Citizen Zenshin 60 in that khaki sunburst. pretty much a "luxury watch" without the luxury name or price and in line with my stealth wealth vibe. always wanted to try a lightweight scratch resistant titanium watch.

I bought my newborn/firstborn son a Seiko Prospex Alpinist SPB199J1 back in 2020. I don't even have any kind of watch myself, but I'm going to give the watch to him when he turns 18 years old.

I own 3 Garmins atm. Venu 2 for work, Venu 3 outside of work, Forerunner 255 for running.

That is a touching gift but personally, I would wear it till he turns 18. I bet it would mean a LOT more to him if he's seen it on your wrist (bonus if you ever get a legit change to use the compass features) all those years.

In 12-13 years from now we are gonna have heads-up displays and shit, a wrist watch, ESPECIALLY a mechanical one, just just gonna be jewelry. Even more so if you don't wear a watch now and try to encourage him to do so at an early age. So make it a family heirloom rather than just a gift. I have a watch my grandfather wore, then my father, and now me. It's a (for the modern era) dainty dress watch but in the 70's when my GF got it, it was cutting edge practicality for men.
 
I'm a simple dude, I don't want to make "statements", I just need a watch (or 2) as a tool 'cause at 47, I'm too tired of the "always online" bullshit and getting notified even when wearing a watch.
I (mistakenly) bought a Samsung Galaxy watch Ultra last year and...I think it's time to go back to basics, you know, having a watch as to be actually able to see what time it is without getting worried about my heartbeat, whether I passed gas 4 times instead of 5 and getting notified about the everyday menial bullshit.

Anyway, i 1st looked into Tissot and I liked the Gentleman with the green dial but, upon visiting my local shop, the watch isn't for me since I'm a casual person and this one can only be dressed up but not down.
The PRX is nice since I love its simplicity /minimalistic look, plus, that bracelet is gorgeous.
I have a 17.5cm wrist so I'd opt for the 40mm one - the hell with the recent small size trend.

I also like the Longines conquest but, spending 2K+ Eurodollars ATM is not something I'm looking towards to.

Finally, there's the Hamilton khaki field which I'm very much into - either the black or green dial on the auto works for me but I'm leaning towards the black one.

Heres the thing though, I'm not an auto guy, I just need something to wear in a hurry and even the ones with an 80hour power reserve...I'd rather not bother with that, and then there's the service costs every few years which I'd also not bother with since, again, I just need something to put on my wrist to be able to tell the time which i also find esthetically pleasing.

My final 2 choices would be the PRX at 40mm quartz and the Hamilton Khaki field - heck, I could get both of them in quartz for the price of just 1 automatic which is tempting tbh...

Hamilton quartz gets my vote.
Automatic great too if you are basically going to be wearing it every day. Great choices all around!

Man, that quartz khaki is very close esthetically to the auto one but...the dial on the auto is really something else (to me), plus, the price difference isn't that big since the quartz goes for 550-something Eurodollars while the auto can be found online for only 100€ more (discounted), the Tissot PRX auto goes for literally double the price of the quartz which - IMO - isn't worth it - spending 2/3's of the watch's original price for servicing is idiotic for such a budget watch...

Anyway, back to the khaki field : automatic watches need servicing every...what ? 3-6 years ? I suppose it depends both on the mechanism involved and the usage, correct ?
I won't be wearing it every day so, again, even with a 80 power reserve, it won't serve me well since I'll have to keep winding it.

This why I'd prefer a quartz one - just put a battery in and be done with it for 3-4 years...

Then, there's the fact that I'm a greedy asshole since I could get both the PRX and the Khaki field if I opt to get them both quartz, it's 300€ and some spare change for the PRX and another 600 or so for the Khaki which, to me, sound like a good deal...

This is probably terrible advice, but I have automatics that have never been serviced for 20+ years, and they run great!
You really can't lose either way!
 
For me, it was automatic alllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll day long as soon as I actually beheld the smooth second hand sweep. I've never looked back. Then I beheld the ANGELIC second hand glide of a spring drive and half of my low-beat automatics feel cheap :P

FWIW you still need to service a high end quartz because whilst it may have a battery, there are still lots of jeweled bearings and gears that need lubrication and seals that need replacing. You can go a looooooooooooooong time between servicing for most automatics, decades really, so they are not that different from quartz for the most part. Now some mostly plastic quartz motor stuck in a fashion watch, yeah you just throw it out when it's done.

I get why quartz doesn't have a continuous sweep second hand to conserve power, but with a solar charge capability I'd totally get a quartz with a gliding second hand that would run down in a week without sun light.
