So what exactly happened after the end of the Season 9?

When the TV series concluded the aliens were coming.....they were all going to replace us with alien-human hybrids (I think?). The world was going to end in 2013, and Mulder & Scully were going to quit the FBI and eke out the rest of humanity's existence on their own.

Then they made a movie that contradicted pretty much all of that, and had the two characters still working at the FBI and investigating non-alien paranormal stuff.

Are they just going to continue retconning Season 9's conclusion, or somehow try to explain what happened with the alien invasion?

No, the movie shows them not with the FBI, living partly in isolation, and they are called in to help only. S10 picks up further down from that. They aren't with the FBI to start with, I believe. (Pun not intended)

I think Carter's said in an interview that the colonisation was
either postponed or failed

or maybe the show's going to tell us that it happened covertly?
(That's speculation, not spoiler I hope but flagging just incase)

The aliens were supposed to invade on December 21st, 2012. A date so feared the Mayan calendar ended on it. I don't think the 2008 movie ever dismissed that date, did it? I'm hoping we get an explanation during this season as that obviously didn't happen.

God I am excited for this. Please let it do well so we can get more then just these six. Everyone is on board for making more if the ratings are strong and Fox says YES!

I'm kind of expecting the invasion to have happened and they're all living in the Matrix now or something to be honest. "The invasion got postponed!" would be lame.

Also the static is a bit generic and the damn thing chews through batteries in less then a week (kept burning up rechargeables too) and that is why I figured I would look for a pair more suited for what I do most which is watch movies and tv shows as well as some light gaming and music listening.

Hopefully as well as the 24 new season, but I doubt it. Honestly, probably pretty high for the first episode, then a drastic decline for tomorrow's episode.

Sadly that is what I am expecting. Not a lot of buzz around this outside of media websites hyping it. Not a lot of people talking about it. X-Files has always been my favorite show because I love sci-fi and horror and X-Files found a very realistic and freaky way of giving us what felt like a movie-quality episode every week. Beyond X-Files there isn't much left on tv that does this for this particular genre (other then Supernatural). Fringe was great too!

Subbed. Since this will air like 2-3 AM here in Germany, I will watch it tomorrow. I am so damn hyped, especially since I only saw the whole show 1-2 years ago.

Also OP there is a typo in the OP on the 5th episode it says JAN 1 you probably meant FEB 1.

I'm halfway through S3. I may just have to go back to watch these because I want to get my first watch done before I explore the new stuff.

same lol I watched each week live back in the day then I re-watched them sometime around 2004-06 and still dont remember anything..lol


funny the only episode I really remember one of my favorite ones is when they have to go to a house in the burbs and pretend to be married, it was about the ground eating people or something like that I just remember it being one of those funny episodes...

I'm so psyched for this, it's unbelievable. The X-Files was always my absolute favorite show back in the day, and it's still up there. First new episode in 14 years.....more like 16 since the last real Mulder & Scully eps.....ahhhh

I love X-Files, but I didn't watch the last few Seasons. I hope there is a catch up at the start so I don't get confused.

Probably. It's been 15 years since two FBI agents named Mulder and Scully investigated strange supernatural and paranormal cases labeled the "X-Files". After some shenanigans with a government conspiracy, the X-Files department was shut down and the two agents left the FBI.

The show opens:

Mulder and Scully have split up after Mulder's crippling porn addiction went to new levels following his discovery of the Internet. Scully finds him holed up in a small apartment, passed out in front of his computer, covered in sunflower seed shells, his pants around his ankles.

I am hoping that this is enough to get people to watch it so that we can get much more then just these six episodes. God I missed this show way to much...
