The Xbox 360 pre-order thread...

I don't know how many the shop is getting, but I have been assured that I will get one of the non-retard packs at the midnight launch. Perks for knowing the management cru.
 
Preordered it today at a TRU.

I'm number 4 on the list, they started to take preorders 2 days ago :D

And it was a good deal, Premium Pack + 2 Games for CHF 699.- (that's about 60.- per game, normal price is 90.-). I chose Kameo and PGR3.
 
Preordered mine back in June at the local GameStop here in Conway, Arkansas. Spoke to a clerk there the other day and he said they had 18 so-called "first shipment" preorders that were guaranteed one on launch day, all others were first come first served (amongst people that pre-ordered them). He estimated that they were getting between 55-60 premium packs.

I live in Switzerland, I don't know about TRU in other countries, they probabely started earlier withh taking preorders. Not a lot of people buy their games at TRU here, that's why I preordered it there.
 
You know, I'm not even sure if TRU does preorders in the states. Looks like I'll be driving all over town on the 22nd.
 
I should probably preorder my games this week, one of those they will probably have enough, but might as well.
 
I live in Spain, and I preordered mine last week. The official preorders started Oct. 10th. By preordering you get a DVD with videos (mostly from E3) and the King-Kong movie trailer (??) and you also get 50% off in one of the following games:

- Perfect Dark Zero
- Kameo
- Dead Or Alive 4

My choice was Kameo :)
 
i have a JPN machine preordered - no games available for preorder. Asobit in Aki - a bit of a trail, so may change it.

Will be looking to get a US machine no doubt as well.
 
I had to preorder at Game Crazy - EB/Gamestop had already sold out of their first shipment. I preordered the day the pricing was announced, and honestly, I'm amazed that people are willing to preorder a system before they know when it's going to come out and how much it's going to cost...

No games preordered, I can't imagine they'd run out of any games, and I haven't really decided which games I want anyway...
 
Mine's been pre ordered since May,I'm 2nd shipment,sad but true.
No games or perepherals pre ordered just yet,I'll do that this week. I'll buy the games at a BlockBuster which is a few miles away. I plan to rent alot of the games for the first month or two,but I'll be purchasing PDO,PGR3,and Kameo right away.

I hope its not a bitch to land a VGA cable around launch,I think I should have pre ordered one of those awhile back,shit. No HDTV for me,because I'm two years in with my 32 Inch Philips component set so theres no real reason to go out and buy another for a few years yet. The only reason why I even give a damn about HDTV would be for the games,but until then a VGA cable will be more than enough.
 
A local Gamestop has stopped taking preorders - they've taken 135 so far, which is apparently they're first shipment maxed out.

When the PS2 came out, I just waited in a line at Wal-Mart and had it that night. Might have to do the same with this one.
 
Btw-does anyone hate midnight launches nowdays? Can't stand them myself,but then I don't game into the wee hours so maybe thats why. I'd love to just go to the mall the next morning and pick it up when I'm fresh but then I doubt I would be able to sleep from launch anxiety. It would suck to hear that my reserved 360 was sold the night before.:(

the two gamestops in my area arent taking any more preorders so it looks like Ill have to check out the stores on launch day to try to get one.

on Wal-Marts web site they flat out say that the 360 will be available for sale at 12AM on the 22nd. I hope this means they are confident that every store in the country is getting some sort of substantial quantity of units. Id be more than happy to be at walmart in line all night just to be sure I get one and their bundles, if they make you buy them that way, are reasonable.

I checked Targets web site and they have a lot of info on the 360 but no sign of bundles or preorders. Im guessing they will have them launch day just be the amount of info at the web site already so they would be my second option.

Best Buys website now has a countdown timer for launch day but stil no sign of preorders. the timer makes me confident that BB will get 360s on launch day so this would be my third option since they would open after Target unless they changed their hours especially for launch in which case they would be my second option.

Circuit Citys web site has nothing significant and Ive never had a lot of luck at my local store so they are my last resort before hitting Blockbuster and Hastings and the like.

rang my GAME (UK) and they said 'what are you worrying about you tit' (or words to that effect) - I'm 2nd on their list after the manager of the shop.

They said they aren't contacting people yet, and will do so during November to discuss coming in and what games you want to preorder. (me=PGR3, PDZ, er, COD2?)

I think by launch day most stores will have started holiday hours, so they may be open earlier than normal anyway.
 
EB called me to say that the premium bundle won't include batteries or a charger for the wireless controller, so we have to buy the charger or spend tons on batteries. Sucks. :(
 
There's an even less desirable alternative to getting shut out completely on launch day. What if your only options are to not get a 360 at all or to settle for a retard pack? Either way you'll be pissed. If you don't get one after going out and looking, maybe multiple stores, it will piss you off while you're reading impressions around here . If you get a retard pack, you'll always be reminded of its inadequacy.

Spend $20 on a NiMH charger and some rechargable AA batteries. You get just as much life out of them as regular alkalines, they can be recharged over 500 times, and you can use them in everything.
 
I'm just going to Target/CC/TRU or Walmart (do the line thing). I didn't reserve one so it's the waiting game I play. I'll have operatives at each location. Oh, and I'm getting a premium pack. With f'ing Kameo.
 
I was told today by GAME (UK shop) that pre-orderers will get some sort of tin with vouchers off etc... and a DVD with game demo's. Sounds good.

I'm not sure of the specifics cause the guy on the other end of the phone sounded a bit vague.
 
When it gets closer to launch date, I may pull my $50 back from Gamestop and go camping. I've never camped before. Last time I got a gamecube at Walmart with no wait around 2am on launch day. The clerk said people were in line as early as noon ( the day before). :lol
 
You guys getting Pushed into 2nd shipment are really starting to scare me.
I'm going down to my Gamestop tommorow to see if I'm still on first shipement.
 
smallish independent games store just opened up this week in my neighborhood. they're apparently expecting at least a few 360s, and i'm now the second person on their preorder list. they plan on doing some kind of bundle, though. :x

i still have hopes for my gamestop preorder, cos the location i ordered at only opened a couple months ago. maybe i want two 360s...one will pay for the other through ebay.
 
Do you think it's pretty much impossible to get on a Gamestop first shipment list by now? I've been planning on going to a Costco or Walmart all along, but I've been thinking... hrm, why not preorder if I don't get forced into a bundle?

When does second shipment arrive in the US anyway. Is it still Dec 2005?

I've heard US stores are starting to see stock already. Is that true?

Well, I'm sure you know, unless 360 launch shipments get doubled at the last minute like with PSP, that's not gonna happen. Especially since MS essentially cut their launch numbers in half - which has fucked over people who pre-ordered MONTHS ago and were told first shipment.
 
I pre-ordered an Xbox 360 Fully Loaded Package at EB back in August which I will be taking home on November 22nd, in the first shipment of course. I also have Perfect Dark Zero and Call of Duty 2 pre-ordered, but I'm not positive I want CoD2, and we're not positive if PDZ will be available at launch, so we'll have to wait and see.
