Shortly after launch in March 2015, PlayStation Music featuring Spotify quickly became one of the most downloaded apps in PlayStation history. And as of January 1st of this year the app has been downloaded nearly 11 million times, with more than 190 million hours of listening through Spotify on PS Music. We’re thrilled to see this level of engagement from the PlayStation community for a music experience all of us here are passionate about.

So here they are – the top 10 tracks of 2015 on PS Music featuring Spotify:

1. 679 (feat. Remy Boyz) — Fetty Wap
2. Know Yourself — Drake
3. Nasty Freestyle — T-Wayne
4. See You Again (feat. Charlie Puth) — Wiz Khalifa
5. Hotline Bling — Drake
6. Trap Queen — Fetty Wap
7. Watch Me (Whip / Nae Nae) — Silentó
8. Post To Be (feat. Chris Brown & Jhene Aiko) — Omarion
9. B**** Better Have My Money — Rihanna
10. The Hills — The Weeknd

Many of you like to listen to music while you’re gaming and with the exclusive background music feature through Spotify on PS4, you can easily soundtrack your sessions. It’s interesting to see that FIFA 15, NBA 2K15 and Destiny were some of the top games for background music in 2015.

I must say that I have used this app a lot on the PS4. You can get some interesting personal stats about what you listened to the most in 2015 by following the link in the last paragraph above.

I don't think I've heard any of those tracks.

I mainly use Spotify to listen to something like acoustic coffee house or some light piano tracks in the background. I must be so out of touch with the rest of Playstation 4 users.

Edit: For example...

I only know number 9 and 10, so I am too :)

Good to hear it's doing well.
I wonder if Sony could do something to make PS video more appealing, or maybe it already does really well for them.

I haven't listened to any of them either.
It seems obvious to me the rest of the community has bad music taste, me and you are the only people who know whats up.

Usually I can at least understand the allure of artists I'm not personally into, but Fetty Wap's popularity is absolutely perplexing.

Once you stare into the eternal eye of Fetty Wap you will be absorbed into his-siren like charms and join as another member of his infinite concubine

Also Trap Queen is dope as fuck

Fetty Wap has come and conquered PlayStation music. Next he goes for the Grammy. The only song of his I know of is Trap Queen.

I'm sure most people have at least heard a part of Hotline Bling. Song shows up all over the place.

This human knows what's up! Though, I still don't get the appeal of Watch Me (Whip / Nae Nae).

Proud to say I contributed nothing to that top 10 list. Blech.

I loved Spotify on PS4 when it launched, but over the past 5 or 6 months it has sucked. It plays parts of songs, then advances on, or just straight up stops. Thought it was the iOS app, but I switched to Android and it's doing the same thing. Never have a problem when running Spotify on my devices.

When it works, though, it's one of the best new console features this gen. Makes grinding in Destiny far more tolerable.

I try to stay current with what's popular and have heard most of these songs using Spotify on PS4, usually while playing Rocket League or Spelunky. Some of them are okay, some not so much....opinions, etc.

I wish they would add Google Music as a service. Spotify is great, but since I have Youtube Red it doesn't seem necessary anymore.

Kendrick Lamar should be on every list.

Yep.
Best game of the year was definitely Kendrick Lamar.

I imagine they would need to wait for the exclusive deal with Spotify to end first before they add other services.
Or that would make the most sense anyway.

Agree with this. Apple should add their service to it as well. I love Spotify, but a little competition would be nice. Especially if it meant Spotify would be incentivized to fix the problems with their app.

You and me both! I'd be all over that. All of my music is currently uploaded to Google Music and any new music I've purchased in the last couple of years has been through the Google Play store.

What we trying to say here?

I love music threads on Gaming Side because it shows how out of touch most gamers are with music and the comments usually devolve into YouTube-grade fodder.

Whats funny is that these songs are the top 10 of what "gamers" (super nebulous grouping) were listening to this year, so even gamers are out of touch with the music that gamers listen to.

My guess is that these skew more towards particular users, like people playing something sports or a multiplayer shootbang where they aren't particularly interested in the original soundtrack or audio mix (probably because they've already heard it a zillion times).

I use Spotify all the time thanks to the app, but its usually doing less story intensive stuff, like Crucible in Destiny or Chalice dungeons in Bloodborne.

If this list were at all affected by what I had been listening to it would have been a combination of Sonny Rollins, Built to Spill and MF Doom, hah.

I usually set up a station on my phone. Then send it to my PS4 to play. But the Discover Playlist is the best thing on Spotify .

Same. The app itself on PS4 is absolute garbage. But Spotify Connect is great (when it works). Much easier to control the music with my phone than to use the native PS4 app.

Some bangers on that list. I absolutely love having Spotify in the background on PS4. Honestly its a huge thing for me.

love playing a game and then use my phone to instantly activate music or change tracks with ease. The PS spotify UI though is terribly designed though

Everybody knows PlayStation Nation is the top consumer of porn and mistook the top hit for Wetty Fap.

Woah that year in music thing is pretty cool. Apparently I listened to 542 hours of music, 628 different artists last year :-O. That would be mainly on my computer though since the PS4 app is very poor and the sound quality on it is terrible.

Roku doesn't even support Google Play Music, which pisses me off.
