Well if it's a GE at least (presumably) corbin will leave after this. Hopefully he has that much shame anyway.

Just worried about how many labour mp's will even be left after this.

A politicial party were I lived actually called an early election once and they got destroyed in that election by two of the opposition parties. The fear with an early election call is that the UK conservatives may not end up doing as well as polls predict since people in the UK may be tried of voting in elections since they have voted in one election since they went to the polls in 2015 and 2016. I don't think they want to go to the polls again. Also it's questionable if labour will as bad as some of the polls saw in an early election because voter fatigue may help them a bit.

Just to clear up, the PM generally does not announce royal deaths. Probably announcing she's putting a snap election to Parliament.

Yeah, basically. Going by polls I believe she'd emerge with a bigger majority from a fresh election (?), which I guess she'd view as helpful wrt Brexit and all that. She must be very confident if that's the plan anyway.

Hopefully remainers would actually come out and deal her a blow though, if it is actually a sizeable constituency. Enough twittering - here'd be the chance to demand a change in direction, at least in how Brexit is approached.

We'd need a party vote for though.

Lib Dems are never going to see power again and Labour...well Labour is pretty much dead until Corbyn either retires or dies on the job.

Vote Greens? The Loony Party is still around right?

Not anything to do with the Queen according to Buckingham Palace.

Resignation or more likely snap election.

So how fast will a GE happen? Isn't that kinda shooting yourself as Brexit clock is ticking?

Legally, she could hold an election with 17 days of triggering the FPTA, iirc. Could be done with very quickly, although I doubt it would be done quite that quickly for PR reasons.

The lectern doesn't have the 10 Downing Street badge. Should we panic?

A GE is likely to happen in the next 6-10 weeks if she calls for one if she is not roadblocked in parliament.

That's pretty fast.

Was expecting atleast 3 months to have a good campaign.

"It was 52% remain. We made a horrible mistake" (That's the only good thing I can think of.)

Apparently no No 10 Downing Street crest on the podium.

Could signal she is speaking as leader of the Conservatives...which would suggest election.
