These headphones my friend just bought me are like SEX... IN MY EAR.

I would love to find some good canal-phones for the isolation, both for myself and to prevent leakage. I'm currently loving the PX100s though they leak like crazy, so I don't think I can bring myself to listen to much lower quality headphones. I think this rules out the Fontopias, especially considering the booming bass I've heard they have.

Does anyone here know of any good ones that won't end up costing me too much? I've heard the Sharp MD33s are good.

Yeah, as you said, the SHarp MD33s have a pretty reputation. However, I'm sure you've read about it's ridiculously retarded 4pole design and 1 meter long extension cord which is required if you want to play it on anything other than Sharp's Minidisc players. I've been looking for canalphones as well, and it's pretty difficult to find a perfect balance. IMO, the MD33s would be perfect if it were not for the extension cord (although there is a mod where you can scrape out the top black section and then put solder in and file it down to make it a regular minijack).
I would look at the MD33s, the Panasonic RP-HJE50s, E2Cs, and perhaps the Future Sonics EM3. these are all <$100.
Heh, but I'm really just regurgitating what I've discovered by wandering around Head-fi.org. Just go there. ;/

They are simply the best piece of personal audio equipment I have ever bought. You done well lad.

:)

I bought those headphones from my Iriver a couple of months back and I am totally satisfied with the purchase. They are probably the best headphones the I've bought. I find that you don't even need to turn up the volume that much at all. I usually listen at a volume at 20 on average on my Iriver. (out of 40) I'll listen at 10 to 15 if its real quiet or 25 if its real loud but never more than that.

the shures are generally seen as better than the ex71s. the entry level etymotics as well. (but you're looking at 100$ for these two). the other tradeoff is that the etys and i think the shures are true canalphones, the tips will go much deeper into your ears - better seal and more isolation, but not everyone likes junk in their ears
