These prices for airline tickets are insane right now. A 2 hour trip is easily going over $400+ dollars which is a rip off. My friends wanted to go on a trip soon but even when you plan out ahead in the next 2 months, the prices are still ridiculous. I guess this has to do with fuel prices going up overall thanks the Russian-Ukraine conflict?

Well it probably depends, which airline you are choosing. I flight with Ryan Air and it cost me 50 bucks to fly around 2 hours, but then I needed to to go to Switzerland and it cost me around what you saying in OP, for 1:40 flight, because only Swiss is flying there. They also forget my luggage on the airport, etc.

But yeah prices for fuel skyrocketed, since I am hobby flying small Cessna, the shit is getting out of the hand for that old leaded fuel.

Can't say I've noticed a difference in prices with Emirates tbh but it will depend on your airline, how much of a shortfall they need to make up from Covid and where they buy their fuel from.

You've got to go high risk/high reward and book within a few hours of the flight you want. Airlines will basically take whatever they can get at that point because otherwise it's an empty seat. However you can't use the same device and internet connection to keep checking the flight availability, not even icognito mode as they track that. Tuesdays, Wednesday and Thursdays always have lower flight costs.

I've saved 1000's over the years with this learned knowledge.

Eh paid $6,000 return from Australia to the US for super bowl was same price pre pandemic & flights where packed with travel resuming. Thought there would of been a larger jump.

Business and First class travel haven't been cheaper in years though. I went Hawaii for 2050 CDN$ and planned for Berlin/London for 2350 CDN$, Miami 1800 CDN$. Usually that would be double/triple that price.

It has mostly to do with the greed of the OPEC countries, but if you look around you may find that a trip to Rome is only a few hundred more dollars than a trip to Cleveland.

Seems if you plan ahead (2 months is not planning ahead) can still get reasonable prices. You buying short notice, you’re gonna pay more. It’s always been that way for myself when are, but that short notice tax is definitely higher than it used to be!
