Thief (2014) PC performance thread

Very High preset at 1920x1080 :

GTX 770 2GB
i7 920 @ 3.8GHz
6GB DDR3

I only get an average of 7 FPS more on the Very Low preset.
Oh and I am quite sure SSAA is broken.

You can save anywhere in the game, right? Did you have previous save games in mission 1 you loaded? Did this happen every time you completed mission 1?

Nope. Playing on the harder difficulty without auto-saves. Only save was the second part of that first mission, and every time it loaded I instantly fell through the floor. Re-did the mission and got through to the second part.

SSAA is working, check one of my other posts out above.

Some nice performance so far. From some of the reviews and posts by others I didn't think it would even come close to this. I'm looking forward to playing it later on my GTX 780.

Damn that's pretty bad for a 7970.

It's comparable to everyone else and I had Vsync on...I think it was a few FPS' higher with it off but fairly similar....unless you are referring to the game's optimization and not GPU performance. Even if you are talking about game performance...SSAA can be a resource hog. I should do a benchmark with it off to see what I'd get.

EDIT: For comparison's sake, here is the benchmark with SSAA set to low and Vsync unlocked:

I am somewhat disappointed with the performance. Running a 3570k@4.4, 8 gigs ram, geforce 780 sli, win7. I was not able to get 120 fps avg, even after turning off ssaa completely. This seems like a game that should be played on my fg2421, but I guess my tv will have to do ...

1080p, very high settings on my fg2421, vsync disabled:

Amd 8350
Gtx titan

Everything on lowest possible settings and lowest resolution v sync off

Guess what

Don't know if I should laugh or cry.

2880x1800 Max settings without SSAA (custom sli bits and levelstreaming disabled, doesn't affect benchmark visually but clean up performance)

Min FPS shows 0.00 but I can't see that 0.00 during the benchmark ¿? Is over 60 for entire bench.
Max FPS 101.7
Avg FPS 73.2

2700K@4.9 Ghz
3x680GTX
32 GB

Kept getting Disconnected so I can no longer use the VPN for today:<

3930k @ 4.5GHz -HT Off
16GB DDR3-2133
2x 4GB 680s
Win7 64bit

1920x1080, vsync off
Textures very high
Shadow quality: Very high
DOF Quality: High
Texture filtering quality: 16xAF
SSAA: High
All boxes checked

No SLI (Dunno what the 0fps min was about)

Gotta love being Bottle-necked by a gpu that doesnt oc as well as the other

Weird. Seems all over the place even with people who have similar hardware. Wonder if driver version differences have something to do with it?

60 fps with FRAPS on, 680, 18gb ddr3 and a 3570k. Not demanding at all, which is very very disappointing, no game has made my pc cry yet. graphics are still decent though

Maybe the in game benchmarking system is broke? Do you guys get similar performance when actually playing the game compared with your benchmark results?

dude has a titan and posts a pic that looks worse than my cellphone from 2003 takes lol. and its upside down.

Wow, so sounds like having a 2600k @4.4ghz and 780 Ti isn't even enough to run max settings @1080p/60fps?

Easily enough. Bear in mind there's 0.0 FPS lowest in the benchmarks and there's stuttering in the benchmark too. Plus people are using SSAA on high which is probably using a lot of power.
Put it this way, I can play the game at over 30 FPS at 4K on a 2GB GTX 770.

FRAPs benchmark during regular gameplay with open environments.

4K resolution
Everything on/max except SSAA
GTX 770 2GB
i7 920 @ 3.8GHz
6GB DDR3

Avg FPS over 320 seconds
42.591

i7-4770k@4.6Ghz
8GB ram
GTX 780

Maxed settings w/Vsync & FXAA turned off and AFx4

I'm okay with that. Good job Nixxes. Performance will only improve in the future w/ the inevitable GPU driver updates.

edit:

im I ok guys?

i5 @2.7ghz
R5870 1g vram 13.1
8GB

playing at 1280X768

At that resolution you'll be absolutely fine.

I love this proc. Such a great value.

I know some people dislike FXAA, but it unquestionably improves things in this jaggie game. Even on the main menu at 4K with SSAA High, the swinging rope is a mess. If I turn FXAA on as well it looks much better.

Also, why run only 4x AF? AF is basically free on modern GPUs, so all you're doing is decreasing the sharpness of your textures.

Based on the first hour in the game, the benchmark is heavier on resources than the actual game. I've actually come across a few minor framerate drops (to the low to mid 50s) but its been only during cutscenes. Otherwise the game has yet to drop from 60fps for me.

I just tried playing the first few minutes in the game with fraps. Actually, in-game performance appears to be much better than in the benchmark. Ran att mostly 120 fps, with some hardly noticable dips here and there.

Edit: Don't forget to use vsync, the dips will be more noticable otherwise.

Mehh. I'd rather have a more stable framerate than a cleaner image. I'll bump AF back up. That and FXAA were the only things I changed that gave me a solid ~12 fps boost.

With the specs above?

I'm gonna destroy this game.

Yes, GTX 770 2GB, i7 920 and 6GB RAM.

How was your fps in fraps during the introduction? Is the first area that you play less demanding than the upcoming real missions?

The starting area and the area I benchmarked are comparable. The area I benchmarked is maybe a little more open I guess. Scenes with rain are more demanding too, but it's not exactly a performance killer. The game overall seems to run very well.

I wouldn't rely too much on the in-game benchmark. It's best to get an idea from 5 minutes of gameplay and FRAPS.

getting a cinematic average of 20 FPS on my i5-650 3.20 ghz, 1 GB GTX 560ti, 8 GB RAM.

guess it's time to upgrade :(

What resolution? What settings?

So this is apparently the version to get... I just watched some PS4 footage that I was hard-pressed to tell apart from PS3 footage, and it looks practically nothing like the PC version. Plus all the extra options? I may have to check this one out eventually.
