Hey all, i was thinking of importing the DS lite. I understand that games have no region lock. However, i wanted to know whether or not its wireless capabilities are compatible here (i.e. would a japanese ds be able to link up with my american router or nintendo's US wifi usb dongle). The only reason I ask is bc I do not know whether or not there are any different protocols or whatever as far as connecting to the internet is concerned.

My japanese DS works fine here.

My Euro DS can connect to Japanese and US routers/servers... never had any issues.

I heard it dicks around with the "regional" setting in mariokart or whatever (in that it treats you as a japanese player) Can't confirm that though, just something I read. Although apparently they work online fine wherever you are.

Well in that case i may preorder myself a white one off of lik sang. Anybody else preorder already?

Oh and keep the impressions coming, I'd still like to know if anyone has had any discrepencies with a japanese DS

My Japanese DS has not had any problems connecting to US networks or with US players. Nor has the regional settings produced MKDS opponents that appear to be based in Japan.

The only game that gave me a problem was Feel the Magic. The US cart automatically loaded in Japanese -- but that was easily fixed in the options menu.

My US DS works just fine in Japan so I don't see any problems.

My japanese DS works just fine with all other "PAL" DSs over Wifi.
Never had any issues.

I have a japanese DS, and an european Mario kart, and I'm connecting to european gamers... The important thing, if you want to connect to your own region is not your physical location, nor the origin of your DS, but the one of the game.

By the way, there's no regional lock, but games from different regions don't always work together (for example japanese Meteos can't see US Meteos).

Yes, it as all six langages (English, Japanese, Spanish, French, Italian and Deutsch IIRC).

yeah a japanese DS is no problemos. I just hope to get a japanese ds lite at launch. Guess it will be difficult.
