This guy figured out the best controller/keyboard/mouse combo for a couch PC experience

So I was looking for a wireless android controller(which lets you put your phone in it) and I found this guy's(RetroBreeze) channel. He was reviewing Gamesir G8 plus and showed this combo idea.

He inserted a trackpad+keyboard instead of a phone in it. Isn't it great?

Looks like the GameCube keyboard controller

Anyway the couch PC experience is still very much suboptimal and it's why I stopped trying years ago and am happier for it.

I've been doing it for years and it's totally fine after a bit of work, but definitely not anywhere near as plug-and-play as a console.

Hopefully the new UI software Microsoft is working on fixes that.

Couldn't have imagined anything worse by the thread title. Give up on physical keyboard and mouse and hope for a Steam Controller 2 (or just use any ol regular controller which is fine for the vast, vast majority of games). Something like a Deck without compromising form for a built in PC/screen.

I plugged the PC to the TV and shit just works.

Guess that must be too complicated for some people.

Yeah no thanks. Just keep one of those htpc kb/m remotes. Use a dual sense so you can push a cursor this way or than on occasion.

Weirdly using moonlight to play on a remote PC is a better experience than local as you can just hold down select or whatever to switch to using the stick as a mouse which is pretty much all you need to be able to click on a pop-up or open gamepass or whatever.
They need to build that functionality into windows.

I just use a small-ish keyboard, regular mouse, and light lap desk that I keep near my couch.

I have Windows set up to boot directly into Steam Big Picture mode so most of the time I don't even need it.

Nah, that's not couch M&K gaming for me, I'll just move to Switch 2 for my online gaming which is the only think I want with M&K...

BTW, someone will create a Joycons 2 profile for Steam Controller, if they haven't already, that will give the best of both worlds for everyone doing PC couch gaming.

Actually shit.

Best is a plank entirely covered with a mouse pad with an actual keyboard and mouse. Add your favorite controller for some games.

Done

See my comment above. That's essentially what I do and it works perfectly.

My only complaint is that, depending on the game, some text tends to be a little too small to read from the couch, but I'm old and wear progressive lenses, so it might not be a problem for other people.

I'm not sure I could ever go back to desk gaming at this point.

Desk gaming is a thing of the past for me. Pc is hooked on a 65 inch, i'm in 4k with 225% scale for the text and everything is perfect for my old eyes

I need to look into this. I need some more ideas. I see some already on this forum. I have my pc connected in my living room. Wireless mouse and keyboard. Everything fine as long I play games that use a controller real good. I just don't know yet when it comes to playing games with mouse and keyboard yet. I need to find a setup

I'm looking for a decent solution, closest thing I've found is the Nerdytec but it's expensive and huge. In the meantime I'd just use a controller and big picture mode.

I thought the same but then the recent Battlefront 2 mini revival had me install it on my 'gaming' laptop (GTX 1650) which is still at my desk. Made me realize how much more I prefer to play a lot of games using mouse and keyboard. Not enough to move my desktop out of the living room, at least not yet.

A pc is to be enjoyed from a leather office chair behind a desk. You will own both as you are an important business man during the day, gamer at night. Couches are for unemployed console peasants.

I use mouse and keyboard 99% of the time on couch, doesn't matter.

Home key + X or Square will bring up the keyboard in Steam in both desktop and big picture mode. Also in big picture mode hold select and you can bring up an option to map the joystick as a mouse. If still having issues i will use Rustdesk to remote into my pc. I use steam link to game like 90% of the time, mainly in my living room on a htpc with pop os installed. Never really need to use my logitech k400, steam is pretty good at handling random mouse and keyboard tasks.
