GRoDT totally fucking sucked, but EVERYONE loved it. 50 was much better on mix tapes (though still not a great rapper), and even better on the G-Unit album. But despite having great beats and probably the best emcee skills yet seen on anthing related to 50, everybody hated Beg For Mercy because it was "too hood". *rolleyes* To me, subject matter doesn't count, just the flow. Complexity gets props from me too. I don't care about subject matter, just if it sounds good, but apparently what is being rapped about is the #1 thing for a lot of people. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, but I do wonder why some people dismiss something that sounds good just because they don't like the subject.
NOT sticking up for 50. I think he's the most overrated rapper out right now, next to Jay-Z. But I do think he's capable of decent stuff, and I wouldn't trust the opinion of someone who says something that could mean they liked GRoDT, cause those are the same people that hated BFM, a good album. I won't be buying the new 50, but I'm sure my friends will be playing it a lot for a while, so I can judge then.
