Well this brings back many memories...
Town Hall meeting with all of the Gamestop/EB Managers. I remember when I was at the Gamestop/Funcoland Meetings - one of the most awkward (not for me at least, I had a whole bunch of EB friends) situations I have ever seen. Funcoland people on one side of the room, Gamestop people on the other side. All the key higher ups were present and were asked a lot of questions – and did not have many answers. Should make for a few good hours of being uncomfortable knowing that you will probably not see half the room at next years meetings and/or conferences.

Such as life with mergers/buyouts …

I don’t miss it for a second. Life after Gamestop/Babbage’s Etc/NeoStar/Software Etc. is so much better

Amen man....I can't think of any reason that I would ever work Videogame retail again. I went to the EB games manager meeting back in 03, when they introduced the whole "expert gamer" sales method. Does anybody that used to work for EB remember that bunk? And who can forget the push to sell baseball games a few years ago because our upper management promised MLB that we would sell x number of baseball titles, it equated to like 6 a day for my store, I was threatened that if I didn't sell 24 baseball games one day (to catch up), that I would be fired. Of course I wasn't....luckily I quit a few months after that.

Nobody ever goes into the GameStop where I live. In fact, I don't even think it is still in the mall - everybody just goes to EB.

Yeah, fuck EB Games and Gamestop. All they try to do is sell you preorders! I was like "I want to buy a copy of Resident Evil 4", and they're all, like, "You want to preorder a PSP?"

Yup, I don't shop at EB/Gamestop unless I absolutely have to.

I went in there asking about the Nintendogs trade in deal and they didn't know about it and tried to pressue me into pre-ordering Madden and swore I would never get a copy if I didn't pre-order it right then. It's MADDEN. You can probably get a copy at 7/11 on launch day if you want one.

btw, the pre-order on game is basically how EB/Gamestop determine allocation, you shouldnt really mind it, the people are being quite honest with you there. Also, the "push to preorder" x whatever thing of the moment comes down from the top and those people MUST to do it to keep their jobs, they dont like it any more than you do.
