This thread is for stupid GAMING questions that don't deserve their own thread

Is my PS3 slowly dying or is BF3 really shoddy on consoles?

It's the digital version and sometimes it would freeze up for like 3 seconds.

Will Crossfire / SLI setups ever be changed so all the GPUs work in-sync and are recognized as if just one really strong GPU, getting rid of the need for Crossfire / SLI profiles for games?

Another stupid question:

I'm tempted to buy a Wii U today in preparation for SM3DW. The only other game that interests me is W101.

Is there a credible game site with a release schedule for Wii U software?

That, and what exactly is there to look forward to going into 2014?

I'm not sure about websites but there are a couple of threads here that cover Wii U games

Here is something, there are leaks of Tomb Raider (2013) getting a port to the PS4/Xbone right ?!

So why not the other games !!, I mean can we expect Collections of franchises ?!

They said the building structure of PS3/X360 is different from PS4/X1, yet we may get something, I am not sure what/who to believe.

So I get that you can't get PS3 games on the PS4 Playstation Store, but how about games that were only released on PlayStation Network? Like Symphony of the Night, can you get that on PS4?

Speaking of that, how is the PSN version of SotN?

Can anyone link to some really bad "professional" reviews? I'm not talking about lowly rated game reviews, but reviews that have atrocious writing and/or are just ridiculous in a bad way. Click here for an example.

No. Copying the data to a PS4 would be trivial, but it will still not run any games that are made for a different CPU architecture. Maybe Sony will release a PS1 emulator or make it available through Gaikai streaming at some later point.

This is semi-gaming related, mostly PC.

Figured I'd try it in both threads since I didn't bump this one.

Hey, I have a Windows 7 question.

With my previous TV, I was able to connect to my laptop via HDMI such that changing the input automatically cut the feed to my laptop, and displayed it on my TV (with the TV's sound). Changing channels or input immediately flipped it back to my laptop screen.

Well, I have the same laptop but I have a new TV, 1080p this time instead of 720p.

The problem is that I can't figure out what I was doing to make this happen in the first place.

I can manage to display both screens, extend my monitor, or make one or the other blank at all times.

I cannot however make it switch to them seamlessly like I had it before.

Can someone help me?

first time in this thread asking a stupid question:

i bought rayman legends (US version from play-asia) for vita.

i have a german account and is the game:

-german?
-do i get the patch without a problem?
-i heard the game has some cross function if you have a origins savefile. is that true???

i hope someone can give me a nice answer.

iam GERMAN, bought in HK a game from the US and i sent it to my temporary home in SOUTH KOREA.

this is globalization.

check out the review of godhand for ps2 on ign.

also dead or alive or soul calibur got a perfect review, which is partly right but i think giving out a perfect review is ridiculous...

also, hoping for the other answers. i ordered it and realized, that maybe i have to encounter these problems...

It's long gone but maybe someone will have an archive link or something but IGN US' review of Football Manager 2009 was an utter shambles. The guy reviewed a football management game as if it was FIFA and gave it 2 out of 10. It was unbelievable how wide of the mark they were. The review was pulled pretty damned quickly.

Hopefully someone can track down the shallow grave it was buried in and we can dig it up again for research.

If I would buy Gran Turismo 5 in these days, is there a "definitive" edition which includes all DLC and whatever extras were released, or would I need to buy more than the basic game (if yes, what?)?

academy edition(in europe, in other parts its called XL?) has already everything included. there was a race included, which was dlc, but it was part of the competition, so it already expired and cant be activated.

but i would buy 6. i played it on on a convention last week, and it does look like an updated gt5. it has all cars from 5, a few more and also better physics and other shit.

but price is maybe the problem... so its up to you.

5(academy edition with everything) on the other hand is less than 20€ in germany.

Thanks. Since I expect GT6 to have even more DLC, I'll pass on that until they release a complete version again (even if it's a couple of years). I don't mind the older stuff. :)

My wife and I both have profiles on the PS3. If I download DLC from my account, will she be able to play that content when using hers? 360 allows this

we both have PSN ID's

Hoping someone can help me out here, but I just picked up a Wii to HDMI converter on monoprice and when hooking it up, everything looks and sounds great, but there's a split second lag on all games, making games like New Mario Wii just about impossible to play. The converter has a 720p mode and 1080p mode and both had the same lag.

I have an LG HDTV (sorry I know nothing about the model or type at this time), but I made sure to shut off all of the picture processing options the display offered. TruMotion is off, all of that.

Is it possible I'm just out of luck here with my specific TV? Is the lag due possibly to the LG's own upscaler or something?

The only reason I was hoping for HDMI was because the TV is wall mounted in a way that makes component hook-ups not quite fit behind it. All HDMI hook-ups are on the side.

I can't download my Tearaway preorder.

"Could not download.
The payment process for the pre-order is not complete. Please try again later.

If your wallet does not have enough funds, add funds to your wallet.

I had forgotten to add money to my wallet yesterday, now there is enough in there to cover the costs but I'm still getting the same error. Anybody got any idea what to do?

Can anyone please tell me if Tekken Tag Tournament 2 for the PS3 requires an online pass?

How about Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition? I am buying both of these used, I like to know if they have Online Pass dilemmas.

Thanks in advance

Does anyone know if the PS4 supports playing .mkv files?
hope this isn't the stupidest question.

I want to know as well, most likely not now. Hope for a patch later, but ppl asked for a patch on PS3 forever and never got one.
If a PS4 user can check that would be great.

EDIT: After looking about, it looks like playback is limited to streaming services and DVD/Blu-ray.
Hopefully more playback options are patched in later.
Still getting a PS4 eventually.

Thinking about picking up a Wii U and although I know I can play Wii games on the U, can I control them using the U gamepad? In particular, can I play Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 on my TV and not need a Wii remote?

I'm trying to remember a couple art installations made by a game designer. At least, I think they were by the same game designer... They were both in featured in American art exhibits. They happened a few years back, maybe in the mid aughts.

One was a game that took place outside, on the sidewalk in front of the exhibit I believe. There were little squares on the ground that had lines connecting them, and the lines kind of spiraled inwards to a center square. People would stand on certain squares and slowly try to make their way to the middle square, while the person in the middle square (who I think was dubbed "King") got to order people around on where they could move.

The second game took place inside the exhibit and had three people trading money with each other. I also think each person had to hold a rock in one of their hands at all times? I'm really fuzzy on this one. I think they were standing around a triangle, trying to trade real money with each other. I forget. Maybe they were betting on how heavy the rocks were?

Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

I'm 35 hours in and it's not lagging for me noticeably whatsoever. Only time it's lagged terribly was when I had practically all the guards in the city on the far left of the map chasing after me through a building.

I think the PS3 has the DLC on the XMB, under the game icon as a disc benefit, like what LBP2 does for example. You can presumably pick and choose what DLC you install from there. You can only use the Legendary edition DLC with the Legendary edition disc though, although you can use your original save if you have one.

I was wondering... could I buy a cord that converts HDMI to USB for use on a PC anywhere? I recently purchased an All-in-One PC with no HDMI-in, and I was trying to think of a way to play PS4 on it. There cord that let you output from USB to HDMI, but I can't find one that does the opposite. Any help?

I'll ask this here and see if anyone could help me. I'm playing Uncharted 2 for the first time and It seems like something is wrong. I've played the game for about 5 minutes and when it gets to this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6eLsYkPhicU cutscene at 7:00, the game freezes and goes to a black screen. You can still here the snow and ambient noises in the game but it's just a black screen. It's happened about 8 times now.

You press start and the option to skip the movie shows up, if you press that the PS3 freezes and you nothing responds anymore. I eventually have to shut off the PS3. Went back to Gamestop and swapped it for another disc and it's still doing the same thing. I then thought it was the PS3 so I tried all the other PS3 games I have and those seem to be working fine. I played through Last of Us and this didn't happen once, played some GOW, worked fine. Put in all other games I have and they also work. This only happens with Uncharted 2.

What the hell is going on? I already did the rebuilding database in Safe mode.

Sounds like you need to delete the game data (not the save data) and try the game again. It could be part of the HDD is faulty. I'd maybe try deleteing the game data then adding or taking away a couple of GB of game or film data and try again.

Uncharted 2 mainly runs off the disc afaik, so maybe the lens is faulty at a part, try watching a whole bluray movie if you can.

Also, just in case, make sure your PS3's firmware is up to date and the game downloads all the patches again.

I just talked to customer support and I did all that. Deleted the game data, then he told me to restore some files. It found some corrupted data and deleted those. Restarted the console, downloaded and installed all the patches and craps out at the same spot. I'm gonna go borrow a blu ray and see if it's the lens. The thing is other games work though.

How's BFBC 2 online community, is it still active ? I've been thinking about buying it on origin since it's $1 but if the online is dead I'd rather save that for something else

edit: nvm just logged into origin and saw that it's no longer $1. Guess I'll just use the money for any possible steam sale purchases

Quick, Soul Calibur IV or V? Need advice, gaming tonight with my bro and i'm willing to buy one of the two. Single player and local multi player, no online. Which is better? Ps. Loved the hell out of SC II.

Why not just play SC II HD instead? If you don't care about the characters or how older SC played, then definitely go for V, if you do care, then go for IV.

Okay my question.

I'm playing catchup for my PS3, and here are the titles I'm considering.

- Deus Ex: Revolution (I usually don't go for FPSs, but I played about an hour or so and really like it. As long as they continue to focus on exploration and stealth gameplay I will definitely get this.)
- Bayonetta (Been on my list for a while, but the Xbox verison is superior, is the PS3 version still okay?)
- Demon's Souls (I have Dark Souls, and as much as I like the exploration, I find myself put of by the difficulty and controls, but I think that has to do with not knowing how to play the game correctly.)
- Nier (I haven't investigated this game alot, but people tend to praise it. It looks like an action RPG with a good story?)
- Castlevania: Lord of Shadows (Looks like a great adventure/platformer, but I find myself put off by some of the animations.)
- Okami HD (Don't know a lot about this game, just that lots of people compare it to a Zelda-esque type of adventure. Haven't beaten a Zelda game, but had a lot of fun with OoT and MM.)
- Vanquish (Probably the title I'm considering the least, looks to actiony in the demo and the gameplay I've seen.)
- Uncharted 2 (Only played the first one, and had a semi-enjoyable experience, bar the QTEs, and shootouts.)

I will probably only have enough money to get two or three, but in which order should I get these games? If you have any other recommendations I would like to know.

Am I remembering wrong, or was (is) there a topic on neogaf where people were naming games from severely distorted box arts? Where ever this topic was, the guys were getting the game names off of completely unintelligible pictures, and I need to see this topic again!
