This Vita bundle is insane... (Vita, mem card, AssCreed $179.99 WOW)

3DS got its price cut because retailers informed Reggie they would not be ordering for Black Friday; nor would the 3DS be given much focus.

So it seems this is a short term fix just to stay relevant on Friday.
Panic Button? Am not sure - but PS+ if done right is surely a way to make losses back.

Hopefully. I think the Vita is the wrong tech entirely but the handheld market will be healthier with 2 systems, not just 1.

This is the first time I'm hearing this. But then again... it doesn't seem like 3DS is getting much focus this year either.

Oh I think its too powerful and if Sony pull things out the bag, some of the best Vita games will never use its full potential. They'd have been better being similar to the 3DS imo. They'd have been able to undercut Nintendo too.

Software problems would remain, but they'd have shared more third parties with Ninty.
With the touch; Vita could have had its first Layton game etc.

There is nothing stopping Layton from being on Vita ... it has a touch screen. Level-5 has ported PSP, and 3DS games to Vita before. The only reason they probably wouldn't do it is because Nintendo publishes the game abroad and no Vita port is going to make up from the lost revenue brought by Level-5 having Nintendo market the game in the west.

When are we gonna find out when this deal is going live? And is this the same as the other gold box deal (all day) they were talking about?

Don't we have a member that works at amazon.

That is an amazing deal. already promised a guy I would buy his tomorrow for $180. I get Madden 13 and MLB the Show 12 with it, but I'm still good because I have 7 months of Plus to take advantage of the free games on there. I also have tons of digital PSP games on my account so I'm all set for my Vita. Kudos to Sony for at least trying to breath some life into this thing.

Omg, I would totally get this if I didn't think it would price collapse further early into next year. Insane deal though.

Saving $70 on the system, $20 on the card, $80 in brand new games, and a month of PS+ which gives you access to 3 full Vita games, 2 PSN games, and a PSP game. I don't know how much lower you think the price will get.

Excellent deal, this is what Sony needs to do to regenerate interest. Now just focus some unique titles that take advantage of the system's strengths and drum up some third party interest.

Nintendo help localized them too. Ahh the bundle is so temping , fuck local warranty ps vita cannot die within 15 months right? Some one answer this ! Really want to get this now, even plus shipping to sg its really cheap...

Don't forget GAF.
The best reviewed game of all 2012 is on this system.

Persona 4 Golden is currently tracking at 95% on Metacritic after 18 reviews.
The gaming elitist in you should compel you to buy it.

He is one of crowd who think Vita will be dreamcasted ;)

Subject header also needs to mention PS All-Stars and 30 days of PLUS before the WOW.
We should also have screenshots featuring all of the free PlayStation Plus games in the OP.
Let's jazz this up a bit. Drive GAF into a frothing frenzy.

You think next year Vita is going to be 99$ with 2 new 80$ games and a month of PS+?

Nah, I see more a increase in the memory card capcitance which is more important to me since I want so many PSP and PS1 games.

Edit: Holy shit, I didn't even notice the PSASBR and PS+

Can't really remember where I heard it; but it was certainly put across factually.
Retail confidence worldwide would have been low so it was just one of many examples am sure that led to the change.

We'll see what happens this year I suppose. XL/NSMB2 didn't set the US alight; whilst Europe seems to be going into Christmas much stronger. But its Holiday season where the 3DS was truely successful in the West; maybe that cycle will be repeated.

But the Vita is struggling for reasons like the price.
Undercutting the 3DS would have allowed for more sales, even if they'd have still struggled it would be much more competitive.

Am just using Layton as a 'for instance'.
I know its not going to be popular but I don't think Vita has given reason for that extra power its pumping.

So the article says this is happening today, but the reddit page discussion says it's going live at 12:01AM PST Friday and will be active for most of the day?

I am confused.

No thanks, waiting for a real system seller to hit the console, like Braverly Default for the 3DS. Sony please.
Square Enix may not even localize Bravely Default for the West.
They have no plans to right now and hate money.

Can't sell portables with a game that doesn't get released.

Going to have to import this I think, love the white Vita but still no news of a UK release :(

Does mean I'll have unneeded Plus + Allstars codes if I can get the bundle!

... too powerful? How is that a problem for the consumer, specially when you can have that "too powerful" device with games and mem card for 179 in deals like this one. That's what a normal 3DS costs on Amazon, almost 40 dollars less than the 3DS XL. :|

If the only distinguisher between Vita and 3DS were to be first party software libraries Vita wouldn't exactly be flying off the shelves either as Sony's marquee Vita releases pride themselves in regards to intense visual fidelity. The super powered handheld gives them a selling point and provides games that can't be done on 3DS. It limits the potential market due to price, but ultimately as a gamer who owns both platforms I feel I'd benefit from two separate platforms with different philosophies behind them.
