My sister did that and her teeth are almost too white.

So I'm trying it now. I'm nearly half way through the set, and it is making a difference. They're supposed to last for like a year, and it costs about $20 for a set.

The strips I have only cover the front parts of your teeth. No one will see it but it feels cheap so I may get some larger ones if they're available.

I'm using Crest Whitestrip Classic.

20 a set? how many do u need?

As far as I can tell 1 set will do. You keep them on 30 minutes, twice a day (each 30 minutes strip is disposable).

The bottom of my lower teeth were kind of stained. Now its faded a lot.

But again, I'm likely to buy another because I want my teeth to be completely white. Not just the most visible parts.

There were Crest Premium strips at walmart for $30. I'm betting they have more coverage.

I tried them (too much Coffee :D ) and the Crest ones worked pretty good. I have heard that the Rembrandt ones that are use with a mouth guard thing work better.

I've been using the Rembrandt stuff for a few weeks now. Works great, but it stings like hell if it touches your gums or tongue.

I got through almost exactly half a pack of Crest Whitening Strips and they worked really well. makes me wonder what they would have looked like had I gone through them all. but ya, they're prolly worth it.

Do whitening products really wear down your teeth? Or is that just a myth.

Because I've had one too many Dr. Peppers and I show my teeth a lot. It'd be nice to get rid of the yellow, and I brush three times a day as it is.

It probably depends on the product and perhaps the current state of your teeth. My dentist is ultra-conservative about doing anything to my teeth that isn't strictly necessary, but he had no problem putting me on a whitening program. Ask your dentist for peace of mind, I guess.

Crest has two products.. the whitening strips and a whitening paste. The paste is a lot more of a pain to apply every night, but it's even more effective. Only like $15 for a box. Apply it for 10-14 nights and you're good for 6-12 months. Works pretty well.

I used the Crest Premium White Strips (30 bucks) for 7 days and I had a huge difference. Still lasting over a year later.

I won the kit, so I did it for free ;-)

I used the Crest Premium White Strips which cost $40 for a 10 day supply. It may be expensive, but it works as advertised. :thumbsup

Don't bleach your teeth! Your teeth are not supposed to be white. Why does everyone want to look like a vampire?

The white strips are perfectly safe, and dentist approved. They will not wear down your teeth.

I'm about due for another set. Haven't used them in a year. I drink a ton of coffee so it's hard to keep mine white.

Yea, you're teeth aren't supposed to be white just like your skin isn't supposed to be washed, or air pits have deoderant, etc.

All this positive feedback has me considering picking up a box this week. I've always wondered how effective they were.
They work unbelievably well. I know several people that has used them. All of whom, saying they've noticed a difference in just a few days. From my own experience, I noticed my teeth getting whiter after the second day.

Yeah, I heard that too. Enough to keep me away for a while, but after reading this thread I might try it. How bad was this "sensitive" period? How long did it last? O_O

Crap, well I'm sold.

It's almost as if this thread is marketing hidden in disguise, because I am so sold right now it's not funny.

ABC'S PRIMETIME: EXCESSIVE TOOTH WHITENING: said:
Teeth Whitening Product Abuse

Some people using over-the-counter teeth whitening products tend to use them too often and for too long and do not always strictly follow the instructions on the package label. Overuse or improper use of these type products may lead to gum problems and irreversible tooth damage!

If after using these type products you see that your teeth start to have a bluish tint to them and/or notice that the ends or tips of your teeth are becoming somewhat "see-through" or translucent then it may be a good idea to stop using teeth whitening products and consult your dentist.

Furthermore, if you are trying to whiten your gray-looking teeth due to the use of the antibiotic, tetracycline, then do not even try because over-the-counter teeth whitening products will not whiten teeth discolored by tetracycline.

SUPPLEMENTAL SOURCE: ABC-TV PRIMETIME LIVE 2/3/05

I watched it... that's why I haven't used those kind of products...

- Dentists have warned that tooth-whitening products may cause teeth and gum sensitiveness or worsen such existing condition. Whitening pastes essentially contain slow-releasing bleaching agents such as carbamide peroxide and hydrogen peroxide.

Amidst controversy that most teeth-whitening products sold locally contained between 3% - 6% of bleaching agent such as hydrogen peroxide and carbamide peroxide which in such concentration can result in enamel weakening, gum irritation and tooth sensitivity, the local promoter of the product has agreed to withdraw its televised advertisement on the product and said it would clarify claims which were said to be misleading to customers. In relation to the issue, the National Poison Centre at Universiti Sains Malaysia expressed its support on the government's decision to require teeth-whitening products to be registered and gazetted under the Control of Drugs and Cosmetic Regulations. It added that teeth- whiteners, especially those containing hydrogen peroxide and/or carbamide peroxide carries limited information on its safety aspects and is not supported by substantial pre-clinical and clinical data prior to their marketing. Experts have warned that unsupervised use of hydrogen peroxide may alter the normal oral flora and can cause the papillae of the tongue.

I've tried Crests whitestrips and this other Crest brand thing you paint on your teeth (sounds fun, but that one was a horrible mess!)

I don't need to use the strips as much as recommended. I still have a box from last year I'm using! Or not using, toothpaste w/ whitening keeps my teeth in check so I don't need to use the strips. I've only had to use them once since last summer- I went on a trip for a week and used toothpaste from the airline and I think it undid what I had going.

On sensitivity, I've only had pain when I forgot I wasn't supposed to use the strips right after I brushed my teeth.

Oh and yea, I dig the whitestrips.

...FOR A BRIGHTER TOMORROW!

Damn. This thread had me sold until that ABC quote. I have 'see through' emal damage to my 2 upper fron teeth, so I guess it isn't such a good idea to use these. Got it from coca cola alone though. :P

They made my teeth really sensitive for awhile.

My teeth and gums are fine.

BUT IT NOW PEOPLE....YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO.

I used them. They worked really well and I didn't have any side effects like sensitivity or anything. You should try them.

They made my teeth really sensitive for awhile.

Okay, I'm having this problem now.

Don't do two sets back to back. Seems to cause this. Good thing I stopped after 1.5 hours. Thought I was being clever by trying to finish them off in one day.

I'm definately going to have to give these a shot once I'm done healing from having my wisdom teeth out. My dentist offered a complete whitening/cleaning treatment, but it's $500 and considered cosmetic so insurance doesn't cover it >_< Think I'll be perfectly happy shelling out $30 though :)

Agree with this point, I do.

Thanx, interweb pixies!
