Those with Multiple Platforms, where are you buying?

For those with multiple platforms, how do you decide where to buy your games? Does one ecosystem vs. multiple ever concern or bother you?

I have a PS5 Pro, steam deck and switch 2 and I feel like I'd like to consolidate into a PS5/Switch or a PC/Switch but I feel like I'd miss playing on my ps5 pro with those nice haptics on the controller for some games.

If given the choice always PC and prefer Steam. Dualsense haptics and such work on PC games as long as the game dev actually programs for them. There's even an official program from Sony that updates your controller on PC.

Main is PC

Purchases:
…Steam 90%

The other 10%:
…GOG 7%
…Switch 2 2%
…PS5 1%

But the majority are played through Gamepass.

I make sure to grab any interesting free Epic game too.

Live Service / MP games (digital) - PC
Single‑player games (physical) - PS5 Pro
Nintendo exclusives and some indies (physical) - Switch / Switch 2
BC titles and some games on deep discount (digital or physical) - XSX

if theres a cart release, switch or switch2

otherwise PC... if I really have to boot it up, tell windows my TV is still my primary display, reboot to get my razer mouse/keys working again, spend 30 minutes in the settings screen, play 10 minutes, spend another 20 in the settings screen before blowing my brains out

i'd really like a ps5, but i keep spending my gaming/food budget on carts... even switch1 carts i won't play... something's wrong with me 😢

That quintuple!

I have a PS5 Pro and Switch 2. My default is to buy games on PS5 but if the Switch 2 version is good and my backlog is light on the Switch 2, I'll buy it there.

usually PC, though thats getting scarier as its becomes clear that I will not be able to replace my pc so easily if something happens.

but also I am a dummy and buy the same game multiple times on different platforms just for giggles. ( and most games suck these days ... so I prefer to play a good game multiple times than a shitty one once )

PC is for anything with a strong mod scene, like Bethesda games, or titles that are clearly better with keyboard and mouse. I still play some MMOs occasionally, and prefer those on PC.

My PlayStation is mostly for Sony exclusives, and my Xbox is for Xbox exclusives and Game Pass. But exclusives are becoming more of a thing of the past outside of Nintendo, and I'm pretty much over Game Pass for now.

Switch is where I often double dip for the portable experience. Lately, though, I've found myself gaming almost exclusively on Switch because I've really warmed up to handheld play. For example, since the Olympics started, I've been watching them on TV while gaming in handheld mode.

It's gotten to the point where the new Diablo II update came out for $25 on all platforms, and I chose the Switch over PC simply because I don't really sit at my computer to game much anymore.

Switch 2 for most games including multiplats, because it's my favorite platform and I value portability and the form factor above all else, PS5 for PS4 games and PS5 exclusives, Xbox Series for online multiplayer and cheap digital games.

For me primarily PS5 Pro > PC > Xbox Series X > Switch (hardly use).

Before this generation started I always believed in having multiple platforms because if for example a game was on Gamepass I'd consider getting said game on Xbox over PS5.

Since having the PS5 Pro, I'd look at DF analysis even more for platform comparisons. If a game was showing minimal differences between the Pro and Series X and the game was on Gamepass, I'd just get it on the X. However, if the game was running significantly better on the Pro, then I'd buy it for the Pro regardless.

Getting games on PC if I don't mind being in my studio room where it is. As for the Switch, it would only be for exclusives, but I rarely play on it these days.

PS5: Action, FPS, Open World
SW2: Turn Based, Platformers, Visual Novels, Anime Style Action
Series S: Xbox 360 games like FF13, Skate, Metal Gear Rising, Silent Hill 2 & 3 collection
PC: Indie games, Visual Novels

All of them. More of a collector now and have never subscribed to the concept of a backlog. The only platform that has fallen completely off my list is Xbox games. I think I picked up maybe 20 games on that platform last year. And those were all small physical releases. Gamepass destroyed that platform from a collectors perspective imo.

Have a PS5, PC and Switch

Normally choose to buy on PS5 outside of odd circumstances with the game or exclusivity. Sometimes I double dip on PC too. Play mostly only Nintendo games on Switch.

Depends on the type of game but:

Mainly ps5
Rest, pc.

Currently playing games like EU5, farthest Frontier, etc on pc while playing Hogwarts Legacy, gt7, EA WRC on ps5( also waiting for a discount on yotei).

I do still play some game on other platforms but my purchases these days are PC only now

Got all the important platforms on PC. Steam is pretty much 100% with some smattering on the Xbox App if I see a good deal and Epic for the free games.

I do really need to start giving more of my money to GOG though. I like what they're doing over there.

PS5 mainly, Nintendo for Nintendo exclusives, Steam for PC only or games I have on PS that become really cheap and I might want to play on the Steam Deck or Mac.

Unless there is a significant performance discrepancy, I always buy on Nintendo Switch. Now that the Switch 2 is out I would greatly prefer to have Nintendo Switch 2 copies of games but they keep game key carding me so I will instead buy it for Switch, again unless performance issues persist. But I really need portability at this moment in my life but I've solved that problem with the PlayStation Portal which now turns my PS5 into a Switch. So basically the main motivating factor is where is it attainable in physical form and that's where I'm going to get it. Switch gets priority, PS5 is the fallback. Digital is the last resort and I'll usually wait until it's 10 dollars or less if I have to get something digitally.

So pretty much I never buy anything for PC unless it's already years old and on severe discount. Every blue moon I will pay when I have to, there have been maybe two cases or so in The Last 5 Years where I've been forced to buy it a full price or nearly full price digital item.

With Civ VII not being (that) bad with controller I'm using less and less my PC. I was thinking about buying a SW2 as well but my backlog makes that decision absolutely bananas.

It varies but I would say mainly PS5 and Switch 1 & 2.

There's certain series I started playing on Xbox 360 and always lean Xbox when new entries come out, but by and large, my Xbox is a dust collector now.

As a PC owner, I plan to buy a Switch 2 at some point. It's the only other platform that still has a lot of exclusives.

I'm gonna keep buying Playstation controllers to use with my PC, though.

Steam/PC.

Switch 2 only for Nintendo games. Same was true for Playstation back in the day before they started releasing on PC.

I will always take a Steam/PC release over anything else, because I can make damn sure to get the best image quality and performance for the games I like to play and I don't have to rely on developers patching their games when I get better hardware.

I am a PC, PS5 and Switch 2 owner.

It all depends for me.
I primarily play 90% of my games on PC. The exception being the few times I want an actual physical copy of a game I really love. Which would go to Either Switch 2 or PS5. There it depends on Game keycard or if its all on the disc. If both are a bust, PC it is. And Switch 2 is mostly Nintendo only titles, but I do have a couple extras.

After that if its a game that uses Kernel level Anti-Cheat (Been a Linux user for years now), I immediately move it to the PS5 if I really wanna play it. Which doesn't happen often as I primarily play single player games. However, I have dove into a few multiplayer titles from time to time, or even the random gacha like Wuthering Waves, since they have Kernel Level anti cheats.

On PC I buy about 75/25 to Steam and GoG. These days I've been buying from GoG a lot more often for titles I really enjoy. Then I've been moving the installers to my homelab server to have on hand locally.

I buy on Switch 2 if possible.

Exceptions i buy for PS5:

Graphically demanding games (which i barely play these days anyway)
Games that only come on GKC on Switch

Sony exclusives: PS5
Other AAA games: On XSX (since I have a 2 TB plug-in expansion card - Sony forced you to break the PS5 open to upgrade that and I'm not doing that....stupid design)
Indie games and Nintendo exclusives: Switch 2
Other indie games not on Switch 2 and early access PC games: Steam Deck

Usually PS5 Pro for most things.
Switch 2 for Nintendo exclusives.
PC for exclusives that interest me, freebie games, sometimes the super discounted stuff I already have but want on PC too.
I don't buy on Xbox anymore.

PC for most. PS5 for exclusives and some other games I want to play in the lounge, or look close enough to PC versions, Switch 2 for exclusives and some ports that are really good for handheld play.

I thought a fair bit about where to buy Hades 2, on Switch 2 or PC (mainly Steam Deck now.) I went with Switch 2 and am glad with the choice. I think if games give a good Switch 2 version, I'll pick things up there. I've sold my PS5 and Xbox Series X sometime ago, so only have PC and Switch 2 for now.
