Those with Multiple Platforms, where are you buying?

Xbox is my preferred platform for multiplatform games. For me it has the best overall ecosystem – I love the MS Rewards loyalty program, the controller is the best in the business, Quick Resume is fantastic, and it's the system I end up using the most. I go 100% digital there.

PC is mainly for the free games on Steam/EPIC/GOG.

PS5 is for the PlayStation exclusives. Around 90%digital.

Switch 2, just like the original Switch, is my Nintendo machine. About 95% physical.

PC/Steam deck for my primary one two punch.

Xbox for comfy couch big screen stuff. (Probably my last generation buying any console)

I purchase most games on PC by default. GoG is my preferred storefront with whatever has the best price following. Openness is PC's core benefit so I am more than happy to desteam wherever possible. I use the Microsoft store for certain multiplayer games since it's family sharing allows simultaneous use of a single copy.

I buy physical copies of Nintendo games as well as any games I enjoyed that received a physical release on switch. I long ago sold off my playstation and Xbox because everything I enjoyed playing ended up on PC.

I might be selling my switch 2 with pro controller soon. I think that'll be down to ps5 and steam deck. I miss the Xbox ecosystem but I would wait for the magnus at this point. That or go with a PC… but those upfront costs……

PC 95%. (mostly Steam, except games exclusive elsewhere, like Alan Wake 2.

PS5 and switch 2 for the few exclusive games. Last one I played on a playstation was Death Stranding 2, and last one on Nintendo was Donkey Kong Bananza.

I definitly prefer PC.

The only multiplat I'm getting is Gta6 on the Pro, otherwise we sticking to Xbox for most everything else. Switch 2 if the game is great handheld. Otherwise we only getting first parties.

PC for any games where I just wanna play and not have the physical copy.

Physical - PS5, used to be very heavy buyer of switch physical copies for collection, but ever since switch 2 and the gamekey card nonsense, been buying my physical copies on PS5. I have not bought a single gamekeycard on switch 2

Sucks doesn't it? I got my Switch a few years after launch, so I was a little late. But I loved it so much my collection exploded way past Ps4 etc. I thought for sure the trend would continue with Switch 2 since they were sticking with carts and there would be one last good physical generation... instead this bullshit so now I'm buying still original Switch games and also more Ps5 than ever. Insanely frustrating.

I own two whole games for Switch 2 because of this and one of them I don't even like, so really just one.

Pretty much PC has taken over this gen for me near entirely, with the only exceptions being Switch exclusives + a few PS5 games before Sony moved to timed exclusives. I did also get some multi-plat games on Switch for portability, but the Steam Deck killed that off, and I don't have a desire to pick up a Nintendo Switch 2 until the OLED version.

Reasons & Desires:
  • I want all my games to be backwards + forwards compatible.
  • Use whatever controller I want for the given game
  • Paying for cloud saves + online multiplayer is a scam
  • I like being able to offload games to my NAS over the network, built with older parts I repurposed.
  • I bought consoles for Japanese games, now 95% of them are on PC.
  • Love getting older PC games DRM-free on GoG + collecting older physical console games to emulate. Empty DRM-check blu-rays + game key-cards are killing physical ownership anyway.
  • The same games are regularly cheaper on PC, and I can play them at a desk, couch or on the go now.
  • Steam is a better discovery tool for games, and better tools to sort my library.

Yep, exact same situation as me. I am playing a lot more on ps5 now even though I am mostly a handheld guy

I even bought Dragon quest 7 reimagined for ps5 and that's definitely the sort of game best played handheld

The worst part is I own multiple switches in addition to switch 2, and after the switch 2 released, they came out with the virtual game card system for my digital switch games. It's been a real headache trying to play my games on the system I want.

I remember downloading a game and trying to play it on my flight, and no, I had to eject it from the system I have docked at home.

I don't like using my controller on PC, it always has issues connecting, I forget to charge the battery, it's just an inconvenience.

So I basically play all strategy games, shooters, and sim games on PC and everything else on my PS5 pro.

My switch 2 I buy some of their exclusives but if I shared my year in review I max buy like 1 game a year from them because Nintendo charges $100 base prices for their games in Canada. They're a scam of a company.

I've been doing pretty much this for a long time and it's the best experience imo

Yup, exactly me. I want Dragon Quest VII for Switch 2. Instead I'm getting it for PS5.

Hell this whole conundrum has got me to the point where I actually bought a PlayStation Portal with the intent of Switchifying my PlayStation 5 and IMO it worked really well and I'm super happy with it and it's solving a lot of my problems as now I can have it physically on the PS5 in this case and still play it remotely on the Portal like a Switch. Do I still wish I could just buy a game on the cartridge for Switch 2? Yes, I would prefer that, but this is a serviceable work around. Crazy how Nintendo's decisions results in me not only buying more software for a competitor and additionally hardware I never intended on purchasing as well. Lol 😆

game by game basis but mostly PC/Switch 2.

Got Resident Evil 9 on PC, getting Pragmata on Switch 2. Smaller games if they're available I get on the Switch for the portability.

My PS5 was mostly my FF7 machine, but with the games being multiplatform now I don't really play on it much

I am looking forward to the playstation handheld, now that I have amassed quite a collection on ps4/ps5. My question is how they are gonna implement backwards compatibility. The rumours are that the portable can play ps4 and ps5 games, which is a great proposition for existing users, but what if most of my ps4 and pa5 library is physical?

Thought that will probably be all digital, but at least they probably would be upfront about it and not come up with some shenanigans like gamekeycard. Though given their history with the PS vita memory sticks….

Since last December I have a PC and this will be my main plattform for here on in. PS5 only for the occasional Platinum trophy. Series X has been collecting dust for years and now with the PC is even more useless.

Yeah, I'm kind of down about this too. It would be awesome if it was compatible.. for those with digital libraries. My Ps4 and Ps5 library is 99% physical, so I would basically be able to play nothing on a Playstation Portable in that case. So to some extent, the PlayStation Portal is my PlayStation Portable.

Got a Deck and a Switch 2.

Bought a lot of Nintendo games but this is the second Nintendo handheld after the N3DS which is giving me photosensitivity issues. Didn't have the issue with GBC, DS, DS Lite, OG 3DS, Switch or Switch OLED.

I have similar issues with certain panels but not others. Never got to the bottom of it. Not sure if it is to do with flicker or what but I'm mightily pissed that this is the second Nintendo handheld that I've had issues with.

No issues with my original Steam Deck OLED, or now my LCD Deck - so I'm buying more games on that for now and am just using my Switch 2 docked.

Just bought DaS, DaS III Deluxe and Kena yesterday on SD.

I thought I was the only one with issue with the switch 2 display. Curiously, switch 2 is the only display I have had a problem with. None of my gaming handhelds have given me this issue.

PC and Switch 2. Mostly PC, though. I am quite happy that I escaped the total fucking disasters that are Sony's and Microsoft's ecosystems. Unfortunately, I can't escape Nintendo's shitty ecosystem as well as Steam's bullshit. Although Nintendo might be next if they continue with their Game Key Card retardation. Physical is the only way I am buying Switch 2 games. If that goes away, Switch 2 might be my last Nintendo console.

What type of GPU can I expect to get if I wanted to go PC that can go mano e mano with the ps5 pro or ps5 pro for example? I'm using a 4k OLED TV with up to 120fps and I don't really play online games enough to care about 240fps.

PC. My Xbox is collecting dust downstairs and my PlayStation is collecting dust upstairs. My kids and I play PC while my son and I also play Steam Deck. At this point I don't feel it's worth buying anything on a console I can get on PC so this will be my last gen I'm multiplat.

The thing about my PC is i'm on it quite often for reasons other than gaming. And then Steam is right there. And there's a sale. And oh no, I just added another game to my library. Damn it Valve, you sneaky fox.

Portability is a HUGE boon for me (I refuse to be tied to a TV if not necessary), so unless it's a PS5 exclusive or runs/looks like complete ass on Switch 2 I'm almost always going to for the Switch 2 version.

Being able to play JRPGs and games like RDR, Yakuza 0, Cyberpunk 2077 and MGS2/3 (now running at 60fps on Switch 2) Freed from the TV, will ALWAYS make more sense to buy and play on Switch 2.

Mainly PS5: all third-party games I buy + Sony games

Switch for Nintendo games and some retro games

And soon the Switch 2, but only for Nintendo exclusives.

PC for games not available on consoles and for GP, free Epic games, etc.

PS5 99% (physical as much as possible)
Switch (some random JRPGs)
XsX (he'll no, not buying anything, get GPU for free)
PC(can't remember last game I bought)

Pc majority. Having a capable rig and a windows handheld means I can game 95% of my games anywhere. Means I can game wherever I want. Its so freeing I have to say from being a console only gamer for the last 10-15 years.
