What's it all about?
Move a 'magnificent space eel' swiftly and precisely on a 2D plane to crush crystal sticks/orbs with its pinpoint titanium head and keep away from the red stuff!
I adored Thumper back in 2016, platinumed it on PS4, and have been patiently waiting for its successor ever since.
So here it is (kind of): Thrasher, the latest creation of Thumper mastermind Brian Gibson, released on Steam on November 7th.
I tried playing it with a controller, but that's a pain in the ass and definitely not as intended (did not test the VR implementation; that stuff makes me sick, sadly
Just to be perfectly clear: it is not Thumper gameplay-wise (no high-speed rhythm rollercoaster ride), but both games share a similar psychedelic nightmare setting and soundscape. It's quite mesmerizing after getting used to the new play style.
I doubt that Thrasher will be able to impact me as profoundly as Thumper did, but after being a bit skeptical at the beginning, I'm enjoying it quite a bit right now.
