Check it out. I've been seeing these ads on TV a lot over the past couple of days. It looks like Tiger Electronics has released a bunch of games this year that seem a lot ot me like Revolution games. Click on the titles to go to the official websites.

The Lord of the Rings: WARRIOR OF MIDDLE EARTH - Ok, so this one has you swing the sword controller at enemies on screen to attack them.

Star Wars Saga Edition Lightsaber Battle Game - Similar to the LOTR game, this has you use the lightsaber controller to duel with opponents on-screen in first person.

MX DIRT REBEL game - This one has you ride your bike by tilting the controller and turning the handle to accellerate.

Mission Paintball - Ok, I threw this in there because it showed up at the same time, so I'm thinking that maybe it's not a light gun game, but is using the same technology as the others.

Wild Adventure Mini Golf - This is a game like Zany Golf from what I can gather. It's not in first person like the other games. You aim your character on screen, and I guess it uses your swing to judge the accuracy and distance of your shot.

Following are from XaviX (thanks krypt0nian):

(these XaviX pictures remind me of the old Atari 2600 print ads. haha)

I know there has been stuff like this before, but I've never seen such a wave of it like this year. It's also very interesting that XaviX seems to be a console. You plug carts into it to change games. I wonder how they'll sell, and if they'll say something about the success of the Revolution.

What sort of technology is it?
I have no idea. I've just been seeing it all over TV recently. I kinda wanna try them out. Has anyone here played one? Store demo or anything?

I don't think those things can tell where the controller is in a 3d space
Yeah, I don't either. But it's a similar type of control nonetheless.

yeah, I wanted to ask about those. Apprently, you have to set up a sensor near teh screen (atleast the lightsabre one has a 'training remote' shaped thing you set on top of your tv.

Ah, you're right. I wonder what exactly it's picking up. Something as simple as an infared light at the top of the sword, maybe? So, when the tip faces the screen, you're making a strike.

edit:
I just saw the video for the Star Wars game. Apparently, it detects the angle AND X/Y axis of your light saber, as well as whether you strike or not. In the LOTR game, it looks like you can perform certain special moves by moving the sword in a certain way... but I'm not sure. Seems to be more complex than I thought.
