haha, ESPN and yahoo sports have the same headline. "Y.E.S."

I hate this shit. Golf and tennis are two totally different sports. I can make the opposite argument. In tennis, you always play on the same court, with almost the same conditions.
In golf, the golf course are always different and sometimes they just don't fit your style very well. Even on the same course, holes are often totally different from each other.

It's also a lot easier to lose your game (or part of your game) with golf than with tennis. A small detail totally change your golf swing or your putting game. Just look at Vijay Singh. He played great yesterday, but his putting was atrocious. Today, he changed his putter and bam, suddendly he's making putt on the first nine holes. Same player, same weekend. There is nothing remotely comparable in tennis.

Why can't we just agree that they are the best ever in their respective sport and stop comparing apples and oranges.

There are five different surfaces in tennis: Rubber, Hard courts, grass, clay, and carpet.

Djokovic changed his racket this year and he has never been the same player since. (he can't change it since he is under contract).

I am not the first guy to bring up this debate, but I have seen other people do it, and I find it entertaining to be honest. :lol

They do it all the time on ESPN. And I agree with you, we should just drop the debate and say that they are the best in their own sport.

Except the Niners in the 80's - 90's?

They're my favorite team, that's different. When the Pacers and Niners play, I always root for them. Just about any other team or person, I root for the underdog. I can't help it.

Not that I follow Golf much, but that's ESPN's picture on the front page.

RE: Federer vs. Tiger.

Very different sports. The one thing about golf is that you really never know what kind of swing you're going to have the moment you wake up to play that day. It doesn't matter if you're an 18 handicap or a scratch golfer; your swing can leave you suddenly. Tiger will have a pregame warm up session on the range and may find he's pushing his driver whereas yesterday he had the tendency to pull it. Or he may find that his cut isn't where he wants it to be. His putting stroke can leave him (like it did Sunday) after having the best putting round of his career. The golf swing is so complex. Every time you head out to the course you have a different swing. If your release is millimeters off it could be the difference between center cut or 20 yards left.

The fact that Tiger is so consistent in a game where day-to-day consistency is hard to find is remarkable. Lots of guys have streaks in golf. Lots of guys win majors and then fall apart and disappear forever. The scary thing about Tiger is that he gets more consistent every year he plays. Sure, he's not winning by 10 strokes anymore. But he's a much, much better and more consistent player than he was 10 years ago. And he's only going to get better!

This is the fourth year for Tiger where he doesn't win a major, ever since winning his first. Roger Federer has yet to have a year without winning a major under the same conditions!!

Federer>>>Woods

Nope, in golf, even the no name players can win a major (as we just saw). In tennis, only the top 7 players generally have a shot.

Tiger just had an insanely good round - went 9 under today at the BMW Championship to take a 7 shot lead going into tomorrow.

One of the better rounds I've ever seen him play. Michael Wilbon said that it was a privilege to watch Tiger play golf, and as odd as that sounds I totally agree. Every time I see him do this I know that I'll likely remember it when watching golf 50 years from now.

Presidents Cup starts tomorrow! Pairings for Thursday's foursome matches:

Geoff Ogilvy, Ryo Ishikawa vs Tiger Woods, Steve Stricker
Mike Weir, Tim Clark vs Anthony Kim, Phil Mickelson
Adam Scott, Ernie Els vs Hunter Mahan, Sean O'Hair
Vijay Singh, Robert Allenby vs Lucas Glover, Stewart Cink
Angel Cabrera, Camilo Villegas vs Kenny Perry, Zach Johnson
Retief Goosen, Y.E. Yang vs Jim Furyk, Justin Leonard

Jordan told not to smoke cigars at Presidents Cup. :lol

A city official has asked the PGA Tour to remind Michael Jordan that he can't smoke cigars at Harding Park during the Presidents Cup.

Jordan, inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame last month, is serving as an honorary assistant to U.S. captain Fred Couples. A photo of Jordan smoking his cigar during a practice round, published Tuesday in the San Francisco Chronicle, caught the attention of city officials. Harding Park is a public facility, and smoking is banned.

"I've already sent an e-mail to the PGA Tour director," Recreation and Park general manager Phil Ginsburg told the newspaper. "It was a gentle nudge reminding them that smoking is illegal and that we would appreciate their support."

Jordan apparently is aware of the regulations, saying in an interview with PGATour.com that he "heard this is a public place, so they limit what you can smoke. I'm not even supposed to be smoking, but this was a practice round and no one said anything."

Ideally, Jordan said, he would like to smoke "a minimum of three" cigars per round, according to PGATour.com.

In 2006, the city Board of Supervisors voted to include public golf courses among the parks that would ban smoking. A violation could net a $100 fine. "But don't expect me to ask him for it," city attorney's spokesman Matt Dorsey told the Chronicle.

I'm looking for an rss feed that pretty much follows just Tiger Woods news. Any suggestions? Anywhere I can get feeds on just specific players? I wouldn't mind following Phil too. PEACE.
