Well, 142 straight tournaments he played on the weekend.

Well, 31 of those were non cut events so the number was somewhat magnified.

The previous record holder was Byron Nelson at 113. All his tounaments were cut events.

If you subtracted 31 from 142, you get 111.

Whats funny was Woods was playing the EDS Byron Nelson tournament this weekend and Byron Nelson was the tournaments host.

Go figure. It was like it was meant to happen.

I believe in shit like this. :D

The media won't make too big a deal of this he's playing pretty well this season. If it happened last season though, he'd never hear the end of it.

That's interesting, I hadn't heard that 31 of the events were non-cut. I hope the media picks up on that if true. Kinda puts the amazing streak in a different light.

Either way though, props to Tiger for his 7 year run. Absolutely amazing.

First Dennis Miller fired and now this, I love when bad things happen to giant egos. :lol

Did I miss something about Tiger? Last time I heard he was quite humble for all that he has done... But if I missed something it is because I don't follow Golf so close...

Yeah, I'm sure both of 'em are suffering. BTW, what's your lot in life?

If we're gonna get all technical with the missing cut streak, it should be pointed out that the last previous time Tiger missed a weekend wasn't due to missing the cut, but because he flew home for whatever reason. The last time he truly missed the cut was at the Canadian Open in '97.

That's true as well.

Tiger's last missed cut was a tournament that was postponed for 6 months. It resumed the week before the PGA Championship I think (or some other huge tourney) and Tiger decided it didn't fit his schedule to go back and finish the last two rounds.

Thus he was credited with a "missed cut."

It should also be noted that the two times he has legitimately missed a cut, he bogeyed the final hole and missed the cut by one stroke. So it's not like he just sucked ass for two days, he missed it by one stroke both times.

However, pretty ironic that the tourney this weekend was named for the man's streak whom he beat. And even more ironic that technically, he didn't beat the streak (instead missing it by two). Sometimes I love sports for stuff like that.
