TIL The Gorillaz are still around, and did a collab with Elton John

It's weird, I heard Feel Good Inc last week and it's just been stuck in my head. That song and Clint Eastwood are all I've ever known from them. That's all the radio ever played. I know it's like a fake cartoon band and I assumed they were long gone.

No, apparently they've been active this whole time. They've got like 10 full albums. The thing they're doing now is called Song Machine and it's all collaborations, one of which is Elton John. So weird.

Is any of this other music any good? How come only 2 singles ever made it to the radio?

I've been listening to their first album. It's an interesting mix of different styles of music. A lot of it is just kind of chill background music with no singing though. I realized there was a third hit I forgot about, 19-2000. That song was cool. Now listening to Latin Simone, very different!

M1A1 was a good one too. Great album.

I'll have to check it out. Also as I'm researching them, it seems the band is actually just two white guys? So who are the rappers on their big songs?

From my understanding, it's basically just one. Damon Albarn (who was the leader singer in the band Blur) handles the musical side of things and collaborates with a bunch of other musicians on each song. The other guy is Jamie Hewlett, who does the visual art side of things.

Really it's the guy from Blur?! I had no idea, that's crazy. I can hear it now.

Have you listened to the radio in the past 20 years? All of their new songs get played.
