Times you didn't "save yourself for marriage" on a game series, and just played whichever one was in front of you.

I told myself I was going to wait for marriage on Kingdom Hearts (Aka, start from the first one). Everyone said I should too, for story and character growth reasons.

But 1 - I don't have access to the games that came before Birth By Sleep (I don't own a PC or console, poor gamer, bla bla. I play on my not-strong-enough-for-PS2 phone)

And 2 - I didn't want to wait any longer.

So I played BBB. It was my first Kingdom Hearts. Loved the gameplay, can't say much about the story.

What is your moment of infidelity? This is a no judgment zone.
You can say Metal Gear Solid 4.

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife
Started Yakuza with 7, then went to 0 and from there on chronological order.

Same with SMT. Played IV, then III and V. Still have to play I and II.

Ask me about my Stream Deck
Many times it's best to play a more modern (later) entry before trying to go back and play an older title. They can serve as a gateway that will help mitigate the pain of any jarring aspects of playing retro games because you are already familiar with core elements of the series. Imagine jumping in with the first armored core game instead of just playing 6.

Also that thread title just sounds cringy af.

I've been gaming since the 80s but was never really into RPGs before that game.

My best friend came over, taught me about RPGs and the rest is history. We're still friends and play FFXIV together.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
I've never played a Shin Megami Tensei game before recently saying "screw it" and diving into Vengeance head first.

I've really enjoyed it. I'm near the end and I've put in almost 60 hours.

Telling myself “I really wanna play this game but I’m going to start with the first in the series and make my way there” is like the perfect way to guarantee I will never make it there.

Forget it. If I want to play a game, I just play it. If it’s interesting enough to make me want to play the earlier ones, I’ll go back and play them after.

You should mind your own damn business!
Play the damn videogame, or else.

Trails. I know it's this huge interconnected story and you're supposed to get more out of it if you play from the start. I liked the look of Trails through Daybreak so I started to give Trails in the Sky a go on my Steam Deck and said... nah. Jumped straight in with Daybreak and really enjoying it, it's the start of a new arc or whatever so I'm getting by. Maybe I'll go back and play the other ones still.

A lot of things. Backlogs are too long, I consciously gave up on trying to start from the first in a series. I started at Ace Combat 7 recently.

That is a weird analogy OP but sure, I have a few examples:

Witcher, started with 2.
Dragon Age, started with Inquisition
Yakuza, started with 0

I'm sure there's more.
