TimeSplitters "Floaty" Aiming - More Realistic & More Authentic?

i was just thinking about this, since the game comes out soon...

some people complain about the way the aiming works...
i mean, the aiming has been like that since goldeneye, its nothing new, i guess i'm used to it...

it's not like i have any problems in other games where crosshair is centered and the screen always moves, i can play either way...

but when its just small movements, i like that the screen doesnt move, and just the crosshairs do, makes it easier to stay on track...

i mean if you were shooting a real gun when you readjust, you move your arms slightly...

you dont hold your arm straight out and turn your whole body every time you want to aim elsewhere...

and we all know but playing all those fps's trains you to shoot, so except TS, they've been training pretty poorly!

i mean, thats whats happening in a typical fps, you're turning your whole body, gun facing forward every time, but when you have a real gun, you move your arms, and if you REALLY need to turn, then you do...

thats what TS does! once you REALLY need to turn, it turns the view!

that's what was on my mind anyway...

The aiming may be more "realistic" but since when in the games world does realistic = better?

Standard controls > goldeneye controls

But in real-life you'd probably keep your focus on the target by moving your eyes. Thereby keeping the reticle in the center of your eyesight.

Plenty of times realistic = better. Just not all the time that is.

I thought that the professional way to shoot a gun was to keep the gun in the same position in relation to your head, no matter where you are aiming, so the head moves with the aim of the gun, like what happens in every other non timesplitters FPS.

well if you are holding a gun with two hands (assault rifle for example) you turn your whole upper body (shoulders) and not just your hands. Even when making just small aiming adjustments.

IMO the TS's aimiing style only makes sense if you have a scope on the gun. Otherwise the crosshairs should be on all the time without the weird sensitivity.

Just throwing it out but this game supports both methods of aiming. The traditional Time Splitters method (the aiming reticule is somewhat independant of view) and the traditional FPS method (your view is where you aim).

yes, they fixed that for people who complained about it in the old timesplitters, but you can change it to the original style in the options.

Timesplitters 2 is still my favourite current gen FPS on consoles. "Blasphemy!", I'm sure you're all cooing, but it's true. I've spent more time with it in multiplayer than any other FPS this gen. I don't really get into any of the war based ones, the strategy-shooters etc and I didn't really like Halo. But I found TS2 fun.
