I'll be posting these in chronological order (oldest at the top to newest at the bottom) because they have been cleaning up the visuals more and more every trailer:

Thula:

Rex Splode:

Robot and Monster Girl:

Anissa and Lucan:

Powerplex:

And most recently, Dupli-Kate:

Still not sold on this game...I actually really like the concept i.e. Invincible fighting game, but the mechanics seem kind of been there, done that (but better). Looking forward to actual previews.

Also, where's the "Batman" like guy (forgot his name)? He seemed pretty cool.

I thought this game was DOA, but after being totally underwhelmed by Tokon… well it's still DOA just not because of Tokon.

I'm starting to think that unless you are Tekken or SF you have no chance in this genre.

Darkwing? Yeah he seems ideal for this game with his shadow ability.

So many of the show's roster seems ideal honestly, so I'm hoping that along with a good starting roster they will have a good character roadmap. I'd even be fine with a few alts, like that one crazy mohawk Invincible or Future-Immortal, with their own separate movesets.

First I will say that....I agree with you 100%.

Fighting games are best with local co-op.

I know people hate when I talk about AI but this is the one genre imho that AI could actually revive, and it could do so for older games in the genre as well. No need for AI in development or even NPCs or any of that shit. No currently percieved of as "bad" use of AI at all.

Just an AI that can emulate a local co-op partner a bit better than just playing against an NPC bot would go a long way. Looking at the MS document the other day on what they have planned for AI, it's basically a local co-op AI partner that runs separately from the game itself and controls player 2.

This and the beat em up genre(think double dragon) could be revived with local co-op AI standins and it would be even better if they had memory and voice chat, but I digress. A shit talking player 2 can make the genre better and actual AI is capable of playing like a real person instead of like a robot so the cadence/quality of the matches against npcs would also likely improve/become more humanlike. The value of playing against a computer controller partner would also improve and one could concievably build up PvP skills in a PvE environment with real AI. Since it is installed on the computer and not in the game the partner could persist across different games.

If this was pretty much anything but a fighting game I'd have been super interested…so often with IP like this they'd make for excellent action adventures or rpgs or just straight up action games, but they nearly always just turn them into usually bang average fighting games. Such a shame.

Don't miss the Titan Gameplay Trailer for Invincible VS, the upcoming action fighting game developed by Quarter Up. Players will rock any match with Titan, the family man willing to do what's necessary to protect his family through the ability to cover himself in dense rock.

Get a look at his heavy defense and hard-hitting punches in Invincible VS, launching on April 30 for PlayStation 5 (PS5), Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam), with an Open Beta running from April 9 through April 11 on PlayStation 5 (PS5) and Xbox Series X|S.

I agree. The way the show plays out, this should have been a big button masher brawler or turn based tactics game, not a vs fighter.

Conquest:

He seems to have some sort of conditional instakill move, but maybe I'm reading into it wrong. They'll post a gameplay explanation on him soon.

I have to say I'm really surprised at the amount of little tweaks to the art style that made it so much better looking than the initial previews.

And either this game is should o match the comic and shows art style to a point and go full cel shaded/cartoony because those backgrounds and impact effects are really showing its lack of a budget.

Definitely not lack of budget, but maybe not as peak as an AAA fighter like SF6.

Look again at that latest Conquest footage. The stage floor and backgrounds are either bouncing from impact, or crushing apart, or being moved around a ton during certain moves.

Those are small details that takes budget. The only thing they are missing are background characters doing emotes, which is something SF6 excels at more.

Story trailer is up:

It has it's own original story, Battle Beast joining in to fight Viltrumites earlier than usual, Nolan not swaying on his conquering of earth and bringing in Viltrumite ships, and Invincible seems stronger(?) with his fight vs Conquest.

There's a scene where Allen flies next to a Nolan in Viltrum gear and smiles so that could mean a lot of different things.

Sounds like this leans into a different dimension per Angstrom Levy.

So some version of Nolan who stays evil.

Wondering if they make Thragg an ultra-tier boss character who has super armor, insane speed etc, like an SNK King of Fighters boss (Rugal, etc).

Been scrolling a lot of instagram and I know he didn't get a lot of screentime but Lucan is one of my low key favorite characters.

I can't view the videos, is Tech Jacket in this and if so is he genderflipped(aka Zoe) or...?

No sign of techjacket yet. My guess is that they included every character up until the end of the show's Season 4 (depending on when they started their development roadmap), and since TJ was just a small cameo at that time, that person did not make the cut.

However since the story is based so much on Viltrumites, there is a slight chance that they could use a more comic-based Thragg as a final boss though, like boutrosinit boutrosinit said.

I intend to get the game but half the roster being Viltrumites is so boring. I desire some offbeat selections like Darkwing II, Dinosaurus, or Donald...

More about the story mode + extras:

  • Alternate story starting point at season 3 (so everything beforehand remains the same)
  • Story crafted by the creators of Invincible
  • Tried to get as much of the show cast as possible
  • Confirmed J.K. Simmons (Omni-man), Gillian Jacobs (Atom Eve), Michael Dorn (Battle Beast), Tierra Whack (Ella Mental)
  • Host moved to new topic before more voice actors could be confirmed
  • Worked with the Skybound animation team for the cutscenes
  • Story mode has a fleshed out tutorial (first fight is 1v1 to introduce mechanics)
  • The developers created Ella Mental themselves, had to ask for greenlight
  • Robert Kirkman liked the story concept behind Ella Mental so much that he added her and her backstory to his new comic 'Capes'
-------------------------------------------------------------
  • Arcade Mode also confirmed
  • Characters have distinct arcade mode endings
  • It has it's own progression system
  • Host pitched adding Oliver to the game and have him getting 'older' from round to round, with a potential moveset change
  • Dev likes the Oliver idea
  • Playing any mode will help unlock new environments, soundtracks, comic panels, comic art
  • Dev and host randomly talk about liking pinball for a minute (not sure if this is a hint or just fun banter)

Capes is OLD and I did enjoy that series (basically, a comedy set in the Invincible Universe, like The Office with superheroes), but Robert is updating it apparently.

The game is not high budget from what I'm told (I don't mean that as a negative), so I'd assume varied characters will come in a trickle.

I'm disappointed they haven't given Best Tiger more screentime in the show, and that's he's absent in the game as he has no fanbase. He was in the Invincible Universe / Guardians of the Globe books and only in the show a few times.

I'd wager Brit makes it in the game later, and maybe Science Dog if they're feeling ballsy.

Full disclosure - I worked at Skybound from 2011-2014, so I read everything and still have much of those worlds and stories chilling in my brain.
