Titanfall Beta now taking applications, the thread of begging and whining

Quit playin' games with my heart.

Sounds like there will be a steady stream of codes, a gradual rollout if you will. I'm ok with that, as long as I get a little fix before release I'll be good.

House of Cards S2 and possibly a beta invite for Titanfall. Alright fellas, let me hear those excuses for your significant others...I need a good one.

You just made me remember that Underwood plays shooters. Given HOC's penchant for product placement, I'm now fully expecting season 2 to show a clip of him playing Titanfall.

Impossible. The show is fully streamed on release date. We could possible see him raging at Ghosts and saying it's the worst, than whomever saying they all look the same, how is this one any different. He could also comment on battlefield crashing.

Frank is a Playstation man. I'm sure he will pimp out the Vita some more.

So this has probably been answered but I can't be bothered to sift through the thread, but when it says you have to sign up for the newsletter, does it automatically do that when you register, or is there another place to do that? I'm on my phone and the mobile site isn't that great.

Is that a shop? Is it a parody account? Was it hacked? Or were the PR guys like "uh that's probably not a good idea."

Now this might be a dumb question but do you need xbox gold to participate in the beta? I've been in some betas that allowed me to play without live and some that didn't allow me to play without live. I don't really have any xbox one games that I play online at the moment and I wanted to try out the titanfall beta to see if it really warrants me buying gold and the game in march.

Got any games on Steam you would want to gift to me? I have a couple 1 month codes I would be willing to trade with.

Well, I've signed up for PC.

I'm honestly on the fence on the game, I would love to get in the beta to see if it's actually fun. If so I may as well get it, if not, meh.

Signed up for PC, I didn't even know I already have an Origin account. Would be cool to test it before buying, but I'm already convinced to get it at launch, if beta/early reviews are positive.

For everyone having trouble registering on Chrome, try using IE, works much smoother.

Thankfully I don't have to do that.

My SO is off to Reykjavík, Iceland on Saturday morning and knows all about Titanfall. Heck as a present for abandoning me for a week she's pre ordered the Xbox One version for me. Can't ask for better than that. Although that unfortunately means I can't watch HoC S2 until she gets back. I'm OK with that trade off.

Signed up for both platforms. I don't care which I'd get it for, I just want to give the game a go. It will be an intolerable wait to see if I get picked, as I'm actually excited for this game.

Anyone find it odd that you can log-into the Beta App site for the PC version using a PSN account?

Everything goes to Origin, but you can "log-in" using Facebook and PSN...

PSN?

Not a prude by any stretch of the imagination, but really not needed.

Do you want Microsoft to give a shit about PC gaming? Nope...

Games for Windows Live

Exactly.

I'm assuming that it's logging you into Origin through your PSN account.

And now we wait.
I came in here looking for the gif from Kotaku's page, and I found yours. I don't even own an XO or a gaming PC, I just wanted that gif.

And then I got yours, I feel I win. No no, YOU win for posting it. Nice.

Uh..on topic..uhhh..I want a XO for this game, especially after that Kotaku gif.

I don't usually care about betas, but I really want to get into the PC beta for this. My purchase is contingent on if it plays well on my PC and this will at least let me test that out. Although its not a game I'd want to play with a KB/M honestly, but no way am I going to spend $500 to play this game.

Just played for 2 hours on the Xbone beta.

It's a lot of non-eye blinking fun. Tons of polish everywhere. Battles feel lively with the grunt fodder. Titans feel badass when you drive one, but not OP as a pilot taking one out. Titans are actually pretty weak, you need to maneuver in and out of fights a lot. Lots of customarily options. The burn card system is interesting.

My ping wasn't very stable, but I had fun anyway and did well enough.

Source engine shows it's age though. They do an admirable job of trying to nextgen it up, but it's not going to win in beauty patents. I feel it's not even up to last gen standards against titles like Last of Us. Sure it's mp only, but it's also Xbone.

For an online shooter experience it feels like a lot of fresh blood has been added. I had to pry myself away and it was only 2-3 maps cycling on 1 mode (no one seemed to be playing other modes for me to join with)

How did you get in so early?=O

Some of my favorite MLB players are playing this right now...Those bastards. Next they're going to tell me they've already played The Show on PS4 just to piss me off more.

Hype truly is contagious. I'm anxious to try it since I used to like COD and would love another good shooter but I'm skeptical at the same time due to the guns feeling similar and some other things. I really want to try it and see if it lives up to the hype but all this talk is somehow getting me excited anyway.

Cautiously optimistic I guess. I just wish it was a game that focused on teamwork. So tired of these games breeding new FPS players as KDR whores and nothing else. When will a game go balls to the wall and introduce a MASSIVE XP reward for doing the objective? Developers always talk a big game about teamwork but never deliver which is why I miss the days of SOCOM and pray that H-Hour will be good. If Titanfall had some good team-based modes with an absolute shitload of XP rewards for completing the objectives in those modes, I think it could help turn around the modern gamer's mentality in games. Instead of a competition between teams, people seem to play them like Golf where they just try to get to the top and in most games, kills are the best way to do that. By putting so much XP into objectives which will help unlock new gear (instead of relying solely on kills for certain unlocks), then we might see more competitive games instead of most games today where one team is just dominating the other 90% of the time.

Seems like most gamers want to play TDM anyway though.
