TLOU2 Thread. But ONLY haters please

It's easy to hate the game when you always recognize that the gunplay and character movement in all ND games is clunky trash.
It's been like that with Uncharted too, but I know, that I was cool about ND before it was cool.

Well it's a 30FPS game so what to expect? But yeah, controls are the sole reason why UC1 is the best in the series for me, UC2 is when the controls started to decline, with UC3 controls being absolutely chore to play, I even kept mentioning that on all the gameplay reveals, you could easily tell how hard time the developer had aiming at things, but of course there were kids saying "have you played the game??", and after the release guess what, the same kids complained about the controls, so hard that ND actually had to patch them. I'll keep saying over and over, at 30FPS, the gameplay can be only so good, the input lag can be only so low no matter how hard the developers will try.

It's a good game. 8/10 or so.

Beautiful visuals, average gameplay (although better than the first) and a crap story.

Starting to struggle with it though. Forcing myself to play.

Well so far what's happened with TLOU2 release on par with what I expected: which was that a couple days after it hit stores, the internet would explode over the game breaking some record or another.

But here's the thing. The game did 1% better in the UK than Uncharted 4. Given that the PS4 install base is much larger than it was when that game released, these numbers are not as hot as one would think. Now consider that Sony almost certainly spent more money to promoting the game than Uncharted 4 because of that larger install base, and things look even less hot. And here's one final kicker. A good portion of the word of mouth folks who would have otherwise sang praises about this game are feeling alienated from this Culture Wars nonsense that Sony has waded into. That's going to affect those legs. The only question is by how much.

Nobody doubted this game would succeed. The real question is how much it will be held back by this ideological shit show that's in everyone's faces at the moment. I personally think the right barometer for success is a comparison with Spiderman and God of War sales over the period of several months.

0/10 - Amazing game. Not the sequel I expected. Not the sequel I wanted.

But the sequel i didn't know I needed.
It left me with the same hopeful meloncoly as the first. Fantastic sequel to the first.

ND somehow keep getting away with it.

Great, now the Thread is missing for those who love the game, and cannot criticize or expose the errors and minimum score is 11/10.

How do you give an 8 to a game that, by your own words, has a crap story and average gameplay?

I've been searching on the net trying to figure out if I should get this.
Naughty Dog games without a good story is a non-starter for me because their gameplay is highly generic. For example, Tomb Raider eats Uncharted's breakfast and shits all over it.
The first last of us I thought was OK gameplay wise, but the story was cool.

So which are more honest, the 5/5 star user reviews? Or are they just a bunch of Sony fanboys?
Or the 1/5 star reviews? Or are they just a bunch of butthurt political correctness/virtue signalling haters.

Fair enough.

Because I can recognise the craftmanship that has gone into it and there are certainly millions of people that do really enjoy that type of gameplay.

But sure, maybe it's more of a 7!

Hate is a strong word. I don't hate the game, I just feel like it was written with malice towards fans of the original. Almost spiteful (See Disney Star Wars films as another example).

Can someone do a Big Rigs Racing pic? 3.9 from 1,100 users.

I want to like this game so bad. About 7 hours into it and... hoo boy.

Honestly I really like Dina and her dynamic with Ellie. Ellie is still just as funny and charismatic as she was in the first game and the voice actors are great. Wholesome Ellie and Joel moments are good too. Gameplay is good. Graphics are incredible. But it's bogged down by the bad stuff, because the bad is BAD.

I already know what happens and how the game ends and it's just so nihilistic and seems to spit on the fans of the first game, and storytelling in general. Abby is incredibly unlikable and unsympathizable, even though the game wants you to feel bad for her.

This game should have had a lot more Joel, even if they had to kill him at some point. I expected it honestly. But do it the way TWD game did with Lee and Clementine. Make it count. Give the player closure. These are beloved characters.
You're better reviewer than all of the critics on meta combined!

But I wouldn't go so far as "graphics are incredible" though. I think game looks just a bit better than tlou ps3 remaster, but still a good review. :messenger_ok:

I tried to play the first one and didn't really like the moment-to-moment gameplay, got stuck pretty early on and ended up selling my copy. So, I guess I hate the sequel too. :D

As the creator of Zelda, fuck your moment to moment gameplay in BotW. Fucking raining and shit causing me to fall off a mountain. FUCK YOU DUDE.

I'm finding that TLoU2 is retroactively lowering my estimate of the first game. I'm not sure why that is happening, but the trainwreck of the second game seems to be casting a pall over the first game in my mind. I used to rank it in my top 10, but I don't think I can do that anymore. Druckman has retroactively soiled the memory somehow.

I would say the environments are incredible, I was super impressed by the forests and the snowy areas and the rivers but I'd agree that the character models actually aren't that groundbreaking. Sometimes they looked awesome and sometimes they weren't really anything to write home about, especially in some scenes where the facial animations seemed a bit off, not anything big but we aren't in "is this real life" territory for game character faces yet. The game never looks bad, that's for sure.

I prefer watching a Cockroach running after some girls rather than watching a muscle girl being fucked in a rainy weather ..

Story is very flawed but the gameplay, when it works (combat), is amazing and visceral.
I just hate that they take control away from you for EVERYTHING, all the time. For talking, or opening, searching, walking through tight places. Most of the time playing, they take away the control and camera. It's like rdr2 or worse. They slow you down, limit your movement speed. It's so infuriating

Ok so big fan of part 1, didnt buy part 2 yet knowing it will flood the 2nd hand market soon enough. I just had a major spoiler from youtube, but even that didnt elicit any strong feelings from me. Im more looking for confirmation that it's a bad story, it's unnessecary to a game that ended really well, and full of lesbian crap. It it hits those 3 ticks, I dont ill even bother.

Oh and if theyre written a spiteful story for the sake of "surprise", then I'll file it alongside the Bioschock Infinite DLC as fan canon bullshit that never happened.

I'm so sick of everyone saying this is a virtue signalling game.
The fact that they are fucking CIS-lesbians and not xenogender trans rabbit lesbians show what a complete BIGOT Druckmann and all his Stormfront-loving nazi collegues at Naughty Dog are.

-10/10 not inclusive enough.

From an extreme to another bad extreme.
Better just close Metacritic
I was wondering why the score was going up. My initial impression was that Metacritic was deleting fake negative reviews, but blocking negative reviews in general makes sense of you look at how negative reviews haven't really gone up all that much in the last couple of days. So now they can't delete negative reviews because almost all of them actually come with valid criticism (even if they give a game a 0) so they only allow positive ones, just wow.

This is probably my most despised gameplay element. If you give me inputs then arbitrarily change the outputs, I'm going to enjoy it a whole lot less. Make it a cutscene and let me watch it for the interaction-leas sequence it is or skip it for the likely boring scene it is. I didn't enjoy the opening of MGS5TPP, and I don't enjoy the opening of RE3make.

Maybe it's just there to mask loading and PS5 will kill that off. Probably not, though.

I think there need's to be a TLOU2 sub-forum or something now.

Nah, it will eventually fade away just like all those SSD treads, it's just a temporary damage control after another messiah has fallen down. But give those guys some time, they can bend/deny the reality only for so long, sooner or later they'll suck it up and learn how to live with it.

You just gave me an idea for a new thread where to discuss if PS5's SSD would improve TLOU2's downgraded visuals.

Ooof lol. Now you know you're only opening the doors for the same handful of TLOU2 defenders to derail this thread. But I'll sit back and watch with my scooby snacks. This week be entertaining.
I'm posting here now, because my thread is no longer open, but all I want to say is you were clearly wrong. As you can see there werent any wars here, because fans werent defending this game in this thread. This thread is a place for people who want to express their hate for this game, and you guys have the right to do so. Decent people dont need to force their opinions on others.

Well there were some people defending in this thread, but can no longer now, due to console warring... But for the most part, this thread didn't have the same handful of defenders as all the million and 1 TLOU2 threads. TLOU2 is the new SSD if you haven't noticed...

Two of the sequel movies were written to appeal to the fans of the original trilogy though, the one that wasn't got the best critic reviews and i think ticket sales.

The sequel series overall are slightly dissapointing because they not have a coherent vision, no planning just movie after movie made to appeal to Star Wars fanatics but with less worldbuilding to focus on the feels.

Maybe the next trilogy will be better executed
